People that everyone knows on mumsnet. Do you remember posters names?

OP posts:
FuckItBucket · 19/03/2015 18:35

I do yes but I haven't seen many that I recognise lately

StarlingMurmuration · 19/03/2015 18:38

I remember clever names, and those that refer to books/films I'm familiar with.

Pyjamasandwine · 19/03/2015 18:39

I think if you are that recognised you may need to name change but the ones I remember are worra and bumbly

StarlingMurmuration · 19/03/2015 18:41

Oh, and sometimes when you you read a post that really makes you roll your eyes, then you see the username and think, "Oh, it's you! No wonder."

LikeIcan · 19/03/2015 18:42

It was possible a few years ago, but not anymore.

WomenVsbarbie · 19/03/2015 18:42

I think you probably can get mumsnet famous I would not want to be though

I think if you post a lot in places like Chat and AIBU then you're likely to be remembered.

I definitely remember certain names for good and bad reasons.

I miss scottishmummy .. except that's not a popular view on here by some.

Does anyone remember LadyBeagle? I think that was her name.

Who was the poster that had all of their posts deleted because she said her husband had cheated at university?

EveDallas · 19/03/2015 18:49

The names that never change are the easiest to remember, whether for good or bad reasons. Or the names that have the same basis with little tweaks.

I like the non-namechangers. They feel more friendly, like I really know them (of course, some of them I do 'really' know, but most are MN mates rather than RL mates). I don't really get constant NCing.

Bowlersarm · 19/03/2015 18:51

I think you can be Mumsnet famous. Although maybe some peoples idea of famous posters aren't the same as other peoples, because they hang out on different boards. Familiar names to other people might not be familiar names to me.

Mintyy · 19/03/2015 18:53

Yes, but you have to post a lot to be recognised.

Or post like an arse.

Nearly everyone I "know" has left or namechanged now.

LikeIcan · 19/03/2015 18:57

I remember scottishmummy & her 'it's only words on a screen' - that's like saying the Magna Carta is only words on a page.

FireflyChild · 19/03/2015 18:58

Mintyy you're a name I recognise straight away.

BsshBosh · 19/03/2015 18:59

Where's Xenia gone? I'll always remember her if few else.

IamtheZombie · 19/03/2015 19:01

Xenia is still here under a name change.

CuttedUpPear · 19/03/2015 19:02

I'm not me.

knackered69 · 19/03/2015 19:02

What happened to Scottish mummy?

I didn't know scottishmummy had left! Did she announce she was going? I must have missed that thread.

Alisvolatpropiis · 19/03/2015 19:04

There's a fair few I remember. As Eve said, it's the non-name changers.

ILovePud · 19/03/2015 19:05

I'm fascinated by the people who know who so-and-so is despite name changes, is it because you PM each other or just because you recognise posting style? I can never pick up on nuances like this but then I can never spot trolls until it becomes blindingly obvious.

DrankSangriaInThePark · 19/03/2015 19:05

Did you mean to out Xenia there?

Cariad007 · 19/03/2015 19:05

I like the one-off bonkers posters who we never see again. Like the one who started out asking where she could buy all-white clothes for her baby and ended up insulting most of the other posters as well as the midwifery profession in general. And the 18yo who wanted to get pregnant and got very angry when it was suggested she wait for a few more years.

holeinmyheart · 19/03/2015 19:07

I think if you lurk on MUMSNET often enough you do recognise some names.
I personally only comment on what I have experience of.

There are a couple of others who regularily reply to the same subjects as I do.

Bellerina2 · 19/03/2015 19:08

I hardly think that Terra is outing Xenia - she makes no secret of who she is and her posting style is pretty distinctive. Not many other MNetters who talk about their island and their "graduate postman" sons!!

MuddhaOfSuburbia · 19/03/2015 19:09

I not recognise noone

cept Mintyy

I don't mind though

It's a bit like being really, really OLD
