To Think Carole Middleton is the Royal Family's karma

I rather admire her actually. Anyone who can wield that much influence while over riding long established power & traditions of the 'Suits' as Diana called them is staggeringly alpha and probably scares bejesus out of the them. If social climber is best they can come up with , so what. She's a bloody good one if so. Its karma, they were bound to meet a more alpha female than Diana eventually. I am not anti royal BTW but i was staggered at its bordereing on medieval/backward culture reading the biog of that ex naval guy who ran Charles' household. Its way past time for a new broom. So what if she is over protective of Kate, who wouldnt be, looking at that dysfunctional family?

Is there some recent news about her, then?

ghostyslovesheep · 14/03/2015 11:51

do you know her then? or are you basing all this on the tabloid press ?

personally I couldn't give a toss about any of them

Sazzle41 · 14/03/2015 12:11

Yes recently, Daily Hate Mail arent a fan of her it seems. Recent critical articles. No I dont know her i know someone who knows a relative of hers and I find the monarchy as a UK billion dollar tourist industry and an institution, interesting. William is a future monarch and i think monarchy needs modernising, too many hangers on we subsidise. Calm down Ghosty, think about the income they generate tourist wise for the economy even if you arent a fan.

Did we switch to Dollars when I wasn't looking then?

Salmotrutta · 14/03/2015 12:15

And the "hangers on" list was drastically reduced a couple of decades ago...

WorraLiberty · 14/03/2015 12:15

No I dont know her i know someone who knows a relative of hers

Sorry but... Grin Grin Grin

Salmotrutta · 14/03/2015 12:16
Grin

I bet they just know the dog.

Sparklingbrook · 14/03/2015 12:21

Don't believe everything you read in the papers.

I virtually know her, I ordered something from Party Pieces about ten years ago.

RandomNPC · 14/03/2015 12:22

The French knew what to do with aristocrats: to the guillotine!

clam · 14/03/2015 12:24

If William and Kate are both happy to spend a lot of time with her family, who the hell's business is it apart from theirs?

Salmotrutta · 14/03/2015 12:24

I know her too because someone I know went to an event that William and Kate were at and waved a flag at them.

TooMuchRain · 14/03/2015 12:28

the tourists would still come even if we didn't subsidise them though

wearing · 14/03/2015 12:31

I don't understand why the press are so vitriolic about her.

I read a piece in the Times about her last year. It was pure bile, some really horrible, personal attacks. In The Times no less! Smile

I don't think she asked for any of the attention and I don't think she has particularly milked it unlike Pippa.

I think she seems a pretty good egg.

Salmotrutta · 14/03/2015 12:35

I'm not an expert on the Royals finances but I do know that the Civil List is pretty short.

And I'm sure I read that the Queen actually puts more into the country's coffers from Crown revenues than she takes out?

Hubb · 14/03/2015 12:41

Agree with Random "to the guillotine" Grin

Hubb · 14/03/2015 12:43

There's too much secrecy around the royals and associated finances for us to say that it generates £££ for our economy.

When we become a republic Buckingham palace will still be there for the tourists anyway

Aeroflotgirl · 14/03/2015 12:48

I think that Prince William feels closer to Kate's, more loving and normal family, then to his highly dysfunctional one, and it shows. He tolerates Camilla for his dad's sake, but she was the other woman who is mother so despised. If Diana was alive, there is no doubt that she would be very involved with Kate and William and their children.

RandomNPC · 14/03/2015 12:49

We can sit there in the front row, knitting, Hubb
Here comes Andrew Windsor, hurray!
Off with his head!

ghostyslovesheep · 14/03/2015 12:53

I watched their wedding - I am practically Kate's best mate Grin

Bettercallsaul1 · 14/03/2015 12:55

Do we have to knit? I'd prefer to update to Candy Crush.

RandomNPC · 14/03/2015 12:58

Suits me, I can't knit anyway

derxa · 14/03/2015 12:58

I would not want their life. However Carole Middleton is looking after her daughter- Diana's mother was a useless waste of space as far as I could see. The vitriol spewed towards Mrs Middleton is pure snobbery- I remember the 'doors to manual' jibe which was part of a Daily Telegraph feature every week. The families of other spouses of members of the royal family were firmly sidelined.
Carole may or may not be an absolute nightmare but I admire her.

Bettercallsaul1 · 14/03/2015 12:59

I'm heartless, me - I'd happily Candy Crush while they were all beheaded even though I know them well. They were on my TV last night.

Bettercallsaul1 · 14/03/2015 13:01

And I've seen Carole at Wimbledon.
