To ask you about gay saunas

workadurka · 24/02/2015 22:39

We've booked a hotel in Brighton to stay with my DP and our DC which has a gay sauna, and I'm wondering if the sauna is likely to be open late and be noisy. I'm a bit naive about saunas and don't know how they usually work - do they often play loud music like a club or are they fairly chilled? Appreciate it probably varies from place to place...

Everything you need to know about gay saunas.

NoArmaniNoPunani · 24/02/2015 23:15

I'm not so sure that one works in this scenario AnyFucker :)

AnyFucker · 24/02/2015 23:18

I just like it, Armani Smile

ephemeralfairy · 24/02/2015 23:32

Right. I live in Brighton. A gay sauna is basically a space where men meet in order to have sexual contact with each other that just happens to have sauna facilities. I think the possibility of loud music might be less of a concern for you in the light of this revelation.

This. This right here is why I'm on Mumsnet now instead of asleep like I ought to be.

Free lube? Sling rooms? Glory hole cabins? Confused

Whatever happened to missionary and the odd blowjob?

SantasLittleMonkeyButler · 25/02/2015 00:22

I may regret asking this - what is a sling room? Confused.

SantasLittleMonkeyButler · 25/02/2015 00:26

Don't worry - I've just googled it. Sounds very useful for the disabled.

TheCatsFlaps · 25/02/2015 00:27

Think hammock meets sexual intercourse, SantasLittleMonkeyButler.

missingmumxox · 25/02/2015 00:31

Trip advisor is your friend, lol, what an arse you are, in the really you are either a stupid troll or stupid parent.
Sorry still chucking.

Ahem, I live there too and I think they wouldn't get away with 'gay' sauna any more than they would be able to say 'straight' sauna.

So, OP, I hope you haven't left a huge deposit... for your booking, you may want to retract.

Sling Room is pretty much Soft Play for grown-ups.
Rubber lined and water proof.

AF it is exactly the home life of the dear Queens in my end of town Grin

fluffymouse · 25/02/2015 01:03

This is not the best place to ask, I doubt there are many gay men on this forum.

From what I understand they are a place for casual sex.

toffeeboffin · 25/02/2015 01:34

Hilarious!

Qwebec · 25/02/2015 01:37

wow mum'n net really wild tonight with all those wedding threads and now this is it the full moon?

CarlaVeloso · 25/02/2015 01:47

What's a sling room? Is it like a bouncy castle? For slinging each other around? Why would you do that???

Also, what's a glory hole cabin? I mean, clearly it sounds sexual, but, um, what's it for? Is it like hiring a room by the hour? Confused

CarlaVeloso · 25/02/2015 02:20

Ah. Ok. Have googled both, am now fully informed.

Lovely I'm sure.

TheNewStatesman · 25/02/2015 02:42

Glory role: I think you get a peephole show. Or, in the case of a slightly bigger hole, the other guy puts his willy through and you have a bit of a play. Personally, I would be a bit worried about the other person being a lunatic with a pair of scissors, but then I am not exactly the target demographic for gay bathhouses!

Galvanized · 25/02/2015 08:20

Please come back OP. I want to understand the decision making process. How old are your DC?

workadurka · 25/02/2015 08:22

Ok let me clarify:

We did not book the hotel! It was booked by my DP's company as he is there on business. If you look at Tripadvisor there are no obvious references. It was only when I googled it and had a nose I saw the reference to the sauna.

Yes it is the place referred to above.

I don't have a problem with staying in a gay friendly hotel. Should I??

OP posts:
Galvanized · 25/02/2015 08:28

There is a marked difference between a gay friendly hotel and a gay sauna, that's all.

We're not staying in the gay sauna bit! (I hope)

OP posts:
SantasLittleMonkeyButler · 25/02/2015 08:38

Really OP? From what you have been told here you really think that a "gay friendly hotel" is the same as a gay sauna? Confused

Mrsjayy · 25/02/2015 08:40
