to think that christmas isn't over yet?

Popped in to the co-op for a few bits to find them ripping down the decorations as 'Christmas is over'. Well not in our house it isn't and I was really angry with the miserable shits. Surely we're not the only ones with family staying, and parties and meals planned? When did Christmas become one day?

Christmas wasn't a day, the bloody decorations have been up since October.

It's over as far as I'm concerned.

What else is there left to do in regards to Christmas?

It didn't. It was pretty much all of December. It's over now, though. Today and tomorrow are the last days and then it's the build up to New Year and back to normal for services, etc.

Plus the shops need to start getting ready for Valentines Day.

When I was a student (mid 90s) I worked part-time at Currys.

Xmas decorations went up at the end of October. We took them down on Christmas Eve, ready for the sale on the 26th.

It was truly depressing having to take down decorations before Christmas Day had even happened.

Calling retail workers 'miserable shits' is not very nice either.

Do you think they have a choice as to whether they can keep the decorations up just for you?

I know what you mean, loads of my FB friends have got their trees down now (mind you a lot of them had theirs up from late November so are probably bored). My tree only went up on Christmas Eve (it was supposed to go up a bit earlier than that) and won't go down until January 6th, the end of Advent.

There are twelve days of Christmas, not just one or two. People who take them down early are often those who put them up in November, which makes no sense at all.

Most people are going back to work by now and as usual said the retail workers don't make the decision. Your language and attitude are both horrible.

When I worked in retail the decorations came down from the shop on Christmas Eve, as we were setting the sale up ready for boxing day, that was depressing for us staff. I think after Christmas Day is fair game though, I want my house back to normal now too.

But I AM really angry with the co-op! There's really no need to be binning things just yet, and the two blokes doing it were miserable shits, and no, they weren't very nice!

It became one day when retailers started opening on Boxing day and everyone just regarded it as just another day which is a shame.

If you want to carry on with your festivities then good for you, don't blame you.

Christmas is over on 7th January, but in retail world, it's dead and buried. They need to make room for Mini Eggs and Valentine's stock.

YANBU. To me the festive period carries on to 2nd January. Still have our tree up, still enjoying Christmas food and looking forward to family coming over on NYE.

Feel sad by all those that have torn down their decorations already. Especially those that have children. I read on another thread that one poster had taken down their decorations on Christmas Day!

It is the best time of the year and I don't know why you would want to end it early.

Lots of people don't stop work for Christmas! But you're a bit OTT for moaning about a retailer taking down decorations.
