to think that christmas isn't over yet?

Popped in to the co-op for a few bits to find them ripping down the decorations as 'Christmas is over'. Well not in our house it isn't and I was really angry with the miserable shits. Surely we're not the only ones with family staying, and parties and meals planned? When did Christmas become one day?

I love this period too. Dh is able to take AL and I only have a little work to do. It's so nice just to 'be'.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 27/12/2014 22:43

Usual you sound really cross but people haven't been talking about fairy tale Christmases. I'm sorry if yours has been rubbish. Mine hasn't been fairy tale, far from it, but I'm really grateful for this period of things being quieter for us. I know in that aspect we are fortunate.

Garcia10 · 27/12/2014 22:44

Usualsuspect333 - of course everyone realises that not all have a good time at Christmas (and at other times too). It doesn't mean that those of us that do enjoy Christmas shouldn't wish it to carry on as long as tradition states (6th January) or to 2nd January at least Grin.

I have great sympathy for you that you do not enjoy the festive season. Maybe you should avoid threads such as these as this one seems to have made you a bit aggressive.

GazpachoSoup · 27/12/2014 22:45

I went to the local shop an hour ago. They've got a Mini Eggs and Creme Eggs stand. For Gawd's sake. It's still 2 days after Christmas Day! YADNBU.

juneybean · 27/12/2014 22:45

Co op workers are usually miserable, it's a prerequisite!

HoHonutty · 27/12/2014 22:49

Thinking that Christmas is over isn't aggressive.

But let's be honest, Christmas is over. Just NY to come now.

Sparklingbrook · 27/12/2014 22:55

I like this bit with the no deadlines and still having a full fridge etc. But it can be a bit Groundhog Day especially when you have teens. I have no desire to go to the sales, and it's a bit chilly for outdoorsy stuff.

usualsuspect333 · 27/12/2014 22:55

I am bloody cross.

I'm fed up of being told I'm miserable because I choose to do what I like in my house with my decorations.

I did have a nice Christmas , sorry to disappoint you all. So stop being so bloody condescending .

nachohousekeeper · 27/12/2014 22:59

Maybe the miserable shits were miserable because they're working while some people are still enjoying days and days of Christmas.

DustyCropHopper · 27/12/2014 23:00

They had a display of Cadbury mini eggs at the till in the range on Tuesday and had taken down most of the Christmas decorations!

Gingerfudge · 27/12/2014 23:03

By Boxing Day, I'm over christmas....good on the co op! I do like the lazy in between christmas and new year bit though...

bunchoffives · 27/12/2014 23:05

Yes, don't worry OP, Christmas has just begun
This is the holiday until at least next wknd imho.

CassieBearRawr · 27/12/2014 23:13

In retail land you don't get Christmas. If they could find a way to make us work on the day they would!

Our sales start on the 24th, sometimes earlier. So yes, all our christmas pos was taken down and binned on the 24th and it's all sale stuff now. And too right I'm grumpy about it, they don't allocate any extra hours to get all these extra tasks done either!

b584 · 27/12/2014 23:21

Maybe us miserable shits that work at the Co Op are miserable shits cos we have had no choice in our working hours over xmas,

Have had hours taken from the stores
so whereas alot of shops get extra hours to cover the xmas rush, We have to work more to make you lot happy and not be waiting in a queue, I bet most of the people working in your local Co Op havn't been able to plan parties or have a big family xmas due to work,
We have no control over when decorations go up or come down, Head office decide, You have a problem with it then Let them know.

juneybean · 28/12/2014 00:23

What's your excuse the rest of the year?

Sparklingbrook · 28/12/2014 00:26

Can I just say that the people that work in my local Coop are absolutely lovely and chatty and not 'miserable shits' at all.

usualsuspect333 · 28/12/2014 00:29

Dealing with customers with snotty attitudes like yours,Juneybean.

b584 · 28/12/2014 00:37

Is that question aimed at me juneybean cos I work for the Co Op. I am not The Co-Op, What has the rest of the year got to do with Xmas decs being taken down now?

Sparklingbrook · 28/12/2014 00:39

I think juneybean was insinuating Coop staff are miserable all year round b584. Certainly not my experience.

LadySybilLikesSloeGin · 28/12/2014 00:42

Christmas isn't over yet, we're still eating the goose and drinking the wine Grin

Co-op staff here are bloody miserable all year round too so it's not just the staff in yours, OP. I almost made a complaint after one threw my change at me Hmm I used to work in retail so I know it's tough, there's no need for rude staff though.

b584 · 28/12/2014 00:47

Lol, LadySybilLikesSloeGin

LadySybilLikesSloeGin · 28/12/2014 00:50

I turned her into a character in my book Grin

LadySybilLikesSloeGin · 28/12/2014 00:52

'For' my book, not 'in' my book. I should bugger off to bed!

kitnkaboodle · 28/12/2014 00:52

YANBU. Another one here who only puts decorations up a week before and considers Christmas to be the period dec 24th-about jan 2nd. The first day of Christmas is Christmas day. Lovely long week and a half. Anyone saying that it's over after boxing day is just plain wrong ...

hehehahahoho · 28/12/2014 00:59

I only put the decorations up on the 22nd or 23rd. This year the xmas tree went up late on the 23rd. It will come down tomorrow morning.

I really don't feel xmassy after a few days.

Bah humbug. Xmas Confused
