That's it really. Find him an abhorrent, sanctimonious, hypocritical prick.

OP posts:
RattieBagTheOldHag · 18/12/2014 18:59

He is incredibly stupid and irritating. He is ridiculously arrogant and I have an awful feeling he thinks he is clever and witty. He talks shite. Confused.

What's worse is that the press and the TV keep giving him interviews. Having him on Newsnight once was one time too many but yo have him back again is unbelievable.

I've stopped watching newsnight because of it. justine, please have a word for me

XiCi · 18/12/2014 19:01

I agree noddyholder
And it's also getting really boring seeing a Brand bashing thread every fucking day.

Sparklingbrook · 18/12/2014 19:05

YY XiCi. It's all getting really tiresome.

I often find him irritating, but that's not actually a bad thing - at least he means enough to me to warrant an emotion. Whereas Cameron/Clegg/Miliband don't even register with these days. If I vote next time (last time I spoiled) then it will be for the Greens - not that it will do any good. There just isn't anyone out there that seems to care. Greens are by far the best of a bad lot. I completely understand Brands apathy.

He is trying to do some good in a crappy world. Making people think about what is wrong with the system and what needs to change. The letter from Jo was just a whiney arse moan from an entitled wanker who could probably do with missing a few meals and seeing how the other half live. I liked Brands reply, put the guy nicely back in his box and hopefully embarassed him.

ghostyslovesheep · 18/12/2014 19:25

lots of famous people do good stuff to support others - he's just one. I often think his 'causes' are just his latest obsession and he'll move on when he gets bored

I dislike him but I think some of the press reports about him are totally unnecessary - such as attacking him for having money and caring about the poor - it's like saying you can't care about homelessness if you have a home

I just really dislike his silly flowery distracting a pointless way of talking and general misogyny

taxi4ballet · 18/12/2014 19:53

We already have more than enough arrogant, attention-seeking, egotistical, self-obsessed smart-arses who think they have the answer to everything.

We don't need another one.

Sparklingbrook · 18/12/2014 19:58

or another thread about him taxi. Grin

RojaGato · 19/12/2014 05:05

Fingers crossed this happens- looks like the New Era estate is about to be sold to an affordable housing provider:
www.theguardian.com/society/2014/dec/18/us-investors-set-sell-new-era-estate-london-protests-westbrook

Still hate him OP? I know it wasn't all or even mostly his doing, but he put his shoulder to the wheel when asked and took a lot of grief and flack for it...

Springheeled · 19/12/2014 06:59

I like him, I think what he is saying is right regarding the crisis and the fallout from it and I like the way he dug in over the New Era estate.

Anyone who read what was going on at the New Era estate could not possibly have thought it a good thing and it's great that he was able to help publicise the case. Sad that any cause needs a token celebrity, but that's the way of the world, unfortunately.

I think he writes very well and is always worth a listen.

The Jonathan Ross phone in thing was sickening and I thought he could never redeem himself but I do think he's trying.

Sparklingbrook · 19/12/2014 07:18

BallsforEarings · 19/12/2014 08:05

Yanbu - what was Katy Perry thinking!!!!

championnibbler · 20/12/2014 14:40

Yes- he is a hideous charlatan. but its better to ignore him, as he's an out and out attention seeker. he reminds me of what Gore Vidal said of Norman Mailer:
"A filthy animal that has found its way into the house."

Sparklingbrook · 20/12/2014 14:43

Sad He isn't a filthy animal. Poor Russell.

CatWreathkeith · 20/12/2014 16:07

Actually Sparkling, yes he is! Wink

Op yabu, I knew him for a long while, and whilst we have lost touch in the last few years, I can assure you that he is genuinely a nice guy.

Sparklingbrook · 20/12/2014 16:12

In what sense keith?Wink Grin I am fed up of sticking up for him on MN, it's getting really boring.

CatWreathkeith · 20/12/2014 16:17

Sparklingbrook · 20/12/2014 16:19

Sparklingbrook · 20/12/2014 16:23

I would expect nothing less Be. Bit of a disappointment if he wasn't. Blush Grin

PhaedraIsMyName · 20/12/2014 16:28

Of course you are not. Telling people not to vote is in the top 10 of the list of most idiotic things said.

CFSKate · 21/12/2014 08:04

It's being sold to the Dolphin Square Foundation? That's an unfortunate name!

TeatOwl85 · 15/11/2017 19:51
