To absolutely hate Russell Brand

That's it really. Find him an abhorrent, sanctimonious, hypocritical prick.

I'ts a safe bet that RB has done more good in the world than every poster on his thread combined.
His 'don't vote' comment had some more words on the end but they are often conveniently forgotten.

"Russell Brand: You don’t have to listen to my political point of view. But it’s not that I’m not voting out of apathy. I’m not voting out of absolute indifference and weariness and exhaustion from the lies, treachery, deceit of the political class that has been going on for generations now and which has now reached fever pitch where you have a disenfranchised, disillusioned, despondent underclass that are not being represented by that political system, so voting for it is tacit complicity with that system and that’s not something I’m offering up."

There's a lot of truth in that, If your a comfortable 'middle class' conservative you probably wouldn't experience or appreciate what he's saying or advocating, if your in constant struggle for simple survival the message is a bit more meaningful.

MrsMcRuff · 18/12/2014 10:40

I thought this was a revival of the other recent thread about RB, that I'd already commented on, but I find it's an entirely new one, so am forced to comment again!

YANBU Xmas Grin

SunnyBaudelaire · 18/12/2014 10:43

anyway he has a point tbh - sorry but if you really think that your 'vote' has made a jot of difference to any government then you are sadly deluded.

Ha ha ha Piss of Russel.

What a hilarious comment. Grin

Roussette · 18/12/2014 10:50

I'm of the mindset that if someone isn't doing something right and I get the opportunity, I would do it and hopefully do it better.

TheFairyCaravan · 18/12/2014 10:59

I really like him.

How many other celebs, or any one else for that matter, are speaking up for the disabled, or the fire fighters and everyone else who this Government have shat on from a bloody great height?

That letter from "Jo" was pathetic imo. So what that his lunch got cold? Who cares? I don't, at least he is still able to buy fucking lunch, that's more than can be said than for a lot of people in this country!

SunnyBaudelaire · 18/12/2014 11:02

I really like him too.
No other 'celeb' is showing addicts as - gasp - human on primetime tv are they?

TheHermitCrab · 18/12/2014 11:04

I think the point is why spend so much hatred on someone who is annoying and egotistical to some, but either way a good guy doing good things for decent people.

People dislike the way he speaks, what he says, how he goes about things.. but at the end of the day he's trying to do good.

I think he has a point with all the tabloid abuse he gets lately, counter productive and instead of focusing on the good initiatives, or just leaving him to get on with his "good deeds" it's more about character assassination.

I like him but can completely understand why he is utterly annoying to some people. But can't understand why people are so determined to destroy him or find something bad about him to send him crashing down. Typical fickle people I guess.

I can think of thousands more people in the world I would rather hate or try and stop them doing what they are doing or knock them off their soap box/pedestal that are much more dangerous and harmful than Brand just trying to get people having a bit of a think while massaging his ego.

SaucyJack · 18/12/2014 11:04

I luffs him, but I do prefer him with his mouth closed I must admit.

Roussette · 18/12/2014 11:07

And me Saucy then he'd stop ranting on.

funnyossity · 18/12/2014 11:09

Thanks for the quote syne.

Having read it I'm even more sure that he should be promoting "none of the above" on the ballot, i.e. a spoiled ballot. To be a no-voter lays you open to interpretations of acceptance of the status quo or simply being an apathetic non-thinker.

TheHatInTheCat · 18/12/2014 11:50

He's kind, intelligent, interesting and fit.

Nancy66 · 18/12/2014 11:56

I think he really showed himself up on QT. He was way out of his depth.

this politics lark is his 'thing' right now. But he'll get bored of it as soon as the election is over and he commands less attention.

He seems to bore and tire of things very easily and quickly...like he did his wife.

NetworkGuy · 18/12/2014 11:59

SB - sorry but if you really think that your 'vote' has made a jot of difference to any government then you are sadly deluded.

So what would you prescribe?

Perhaps (a) none of us vote or (b) all spoil our ballot ?

If we did either, what would we achieve ?

(Actually, I think I know the answer to that - effectively it would be left to those who did bother to vote and everyone who didn't place a valid vote would be in the position of having no-one but those who did vote to blame for the Government choice of last resort... defined by a minority who did vote.

You're probably happy with an equally significant "not a jot of difference" being made by those who didn't vote properly.

plinkyplonks · 18/12/2014 12:05

How can you hate someone you don't actually know :/

BeHoHoHove · 18/12/2014 12:06

I can't be bothered hating someone who has absolutely no affect on my life. But he is a total fanny.

12daysofpissedoff · 18/12/2014 12:09

His voice gives me the rage. I also find it a bit alarming that he's got a bit of a mad starey look in his eyes.

Roussette · 18/12/2014 12:37

I don't hate him. Hate is such a negative emotion. However, I do find him irritating and as someone has said... betcha he'll soon get bored with this campaigning lark.

bigjimsdiamondmine · 18/12/2014 12:38

yabu, you don't have to like him but at least respect him for drawing attention to inequality, like no one else can be fucked to do.

LovleyRitaMeterMaid · 18/12/2014 12:52

People are sneering, and relying to silence a voice. Why? Is it because it's uncomfortable and inconvenient to hear someone? Should politics be reserved for the middle ages, expensively educated men in suits?

The letter from Jo is lame.

That hero telling Russell to go into politics and stand for election is the brother of a UKIP mep.

You don't need to be in politics to have an opinion. We need to get over that. Politics and those elected to represent us affects every aspect of our life. It's everyone's business and we should all be making as much noise as possible about inequalities and corruption. You don't need to be elected.

I have respect for someone who uses their position to provide a platform for an alternative view point. It's refreshing an should be encouraged, don't silence someone just because you don't like what they have to say.

BeHoHoHove · 18/12/2014 12:55

For me it's nothing at all to do with what he is saying- more to do with who is saying it.

Mehitabel6 · 18/12/2014 18:43

I agree, Nancy66. I can't stand a man who calls a woman 'love' as a put down- something he did on QT and made me switch off.

I like him. People are uncomfortable with anyone trying to expose the hypocrisy and corruption in our country as it upsets the apple cart and we are a nation of people with fingers in our ears saying lalalal while they walk all over us. He does say daft things sometimes but I still think he should say them
