That's it really. Find him an abhorrent, sanctimonious, hypocritical prick.

Well said doctor and radio. Letter from Jo wasn't the least bit funny. RB didn't lock the doors, RBS did ffs.
RB is ace.

JulyKit · 18/12/2014 09:08

If I vote in the next election it will be the greens.

So do it, Fried. Do it!

It seems like you're comparing voting Green to not voting. There's not a comparison. Vote! Vote!

I'm actually beginning to wonder if he's unwell. His behaviour is becoming quite bizarre and he appears manic at times Confused

I don't like him at all, but perhaps he needs treatment.

RojaGato · 18/12/2014 09:27

I think he is a very attention seeking. But he is funny when is in comic mode. And although I think he goes about his political involvement the wrong way, I can't really hate someone who is prepared to stand up for people being evicted so unfairly. Read about a woman with a child who works for the NHS who lives there, and she has basically no hope of affording a London private rent or getting social housing in London, so basically she will be moved to another city. Kid has to change school, she loses job and entire support system, kids loses friends and family close by. I would rather a celebrity made a bit of twat of themselves doing that in the newspapers than by having and affair or changing their boob size.

Roussette · 18/12/2014 09:28

RB is a complete idiot and is making a right show of himself. He is all mouth and no trousers. A campaigner? Yeah yeah. He is just poncing about the place sounding off and he's looking more and more stupid.

I had a lot of time for him when he spoke of the Gaza/Israel conflict over in the US but it's all gone downhill since. Yes, at times he has some valid points to make but like the bloke on Question Time said "go into politics then". He hasn't got the balls.

BTW he has answered Jo/RBS/cold lunch here

TheHermitCrab · 18/12/2014 09:32

I used to dislike him a lot. Now I like him a lot... When I thought about all the reasons I disliked him it seemed a bit petty.

He was a druggy, pretty poor comedian, and an attention seeker. Although I did LOVE his BNP docu he did back in the day (you can still watch it on youtube, you'll be surprised how different he used to look)

He now helps other drug users, donates a lot of money, talks about subjects that generally comics and minor celebrities steer clear of, he never seems to do anything "bad" or "wrong" and seems like an all round great guy. Given away profits from his new book, helped housing estates, seems to be someone you could easily approach in the street without worry. Yeah a MASSIVE ego, but he's using it for good. And good guys are good in my books, even if they can be annoying and use a bizarre vocabulary!

His "trews" and his response letter also made me chuckle.

People seem to hate him just for being different (I don't see the hypocrite thing myself really unless you are looking at it black and white). My OH hates him with a passion, literally leaves the room if I have him on the telly. But I guess those kinds of people who get such a polarized opinion are the people who get stuff done in life.

But then Russel likes David Icke... and David Icke is as mad as a hatter :/ lol

TheHermitCrab · 18/12/2014 09:34

I suppose I was trying to say, he's done bloody good for himself, and a lot of good for other people when he doesn't have to, even if there is a lot of ego involved, all good stuff.

And good is... good ;)

elizadoeverything · 18/12/2014 09:43

Dont NOT vote. Spoil your vote.

By not voting your voice is utterly silent and politicians will say people are not engaged etc. By spoiling your vote you are protesting the candidates and saying that you are a willing participant in the election but you have no one you wish to vote for. If enough spoiled votes are counted, then the credibility of the election is called in to question.

I like him but he has this one thing fundamentally wrong.

funnyossity · 18/12/2014 09:50

I agree that Spoiling your ballot paper at leasts sends a message.

Non-voters are mute.

meltedmonterayjack · 18/12/2014 10:11

YANBU. He takes himself very seriously as a force to be reckoned with. He comes across as immature, ill-informed and a total prat imo. Trying to be cool and current but is like a precocious but not very intelligent teenager.

OTheHugeManatee · 18/12/2014 10:13

I watched that Question Time on iplayer just to see what Russell's political schtick was like. Halfway through his second answer it hit me that what he sounds like is one of those whining druggies that begs for change on busy shopping streets. Exactly the same plaintive, nasal whinge.

I thought he was soundly put in his box by that guy on QT who told him to go into politics, and that his response exposed him for the carping overgrown teenager he clearly is.

londonrach · 18/12/2014 10:15

Me to. I refuse to watch anything hes on and read anything about him. Mind you im also blocking brad pitt, Angelia jolie and katie price! Xmas Grin

Lagoonablue · 18/12/2014 10:17

I quite like him. I think his heart is in the right place. He's just a bit OTT.

Theboodythatrocked · 18/12/2014 10:20

Yes spoiling your ballot paper will really make a difference!

He's a twat. He will do or say anything for attention which, considering his age, is a bit sad really.

SunnyBaudelaire · 18/12/2014 10:23

I quite fancy him to be honest.
And at least someone who has cameras behind him is saying something is objecting to the tosh we are fed on a daily basis.

funnyossity · 18/12/2014 10:23

Thebody spoiled ballots are counted at the end. People who don't vote are interpreted as apathetic and probably ok with the status quo. There is a difference in the message sent.

SunnyBaudelaire · 18/12/2014 10:23

and yes agree with lagunablue at least his heart is in the right place

funnyossity · 18/12/2014 10:25

His heart may be in the right place but encouraging people to opt out of voting is both daft and dangerous.

anothernumberone · 18/12/2014 10:26

Spoiling your vote means nothing and is as bad as not voting. No one gives a spoiled vote a second thought so it is a waste of the effort of getting to the polling station. Find someone you like and get them to run for office probably makes more sense.

Theboodythatrocked · 18/12/2014 10:27

So they are counted and change what exactly?

Cop out. If you don't like the politicians then stand yourself.

Spoiling papers is childish. Not voting is indefensible. He's a massive attention seeking tiresome idiot.

funnyossity · 18/12/2014 10:28

I agree another, but if people feel they cannot opt for any candidate they are offered on their ballot paper they are best to go in and write "none of the above".

QuinnTwinny · 18/12/2014 10:28

His answer on QT of 'I wouldn't want to become one of them' was ridiculous. He complains, yet won't actually put the effort in to possibly make the changes he thinks we need. A couple of publicity stunts is all he is good for.

Russell Brand for PM!!

ConferencePear · 18/12/2014 10:33

Simplistic solutions to political problems couched in over-elaborate language. I'm afraid I can't think of him as anything but a whining ranter.
I find the whole look and sound of him repulsive.
