Partly. And also loads of people seem to find it therapeutic to give some random a good flaming for spurious reasons.

XmasTimeMammariesandWine · 13/12/2014 18:46

And to those people I say "get a life you miserable nasty bastards'. Ah that's better.

LeopardInABobbleHat · 13/12/2014 18:49

It's a handy way of identifying threads that are fuck boring.

LoisHatesChristmas · 13/12/2014 18:49

Then you would get flamed for swearing Xmas Some people genuinely don't get sarcasm or jokes I've seen many a flaming for what was clearly just a bit of fun! I can see why folks put Lighthearted. It does have a touch of the netmums about it but I cant get too worked up. Anyone calls me hun and I'm outta here though!

XmasTimeMammariesandWine · 13/12/2014 18:51

Lighthearted doesn't even work tbh.

People seem to find it a challenge and it makes them even more offended.

XmasTimeMammariesandWine · 13/12/2014 18:51

" That's not lighthearted you insensitive swine " etc.

LeopardInABobbleHat · 13/12/2014 18:57

Haha, Mammaries, like a gauntlet slap across the chops of the Determinded-To-Be-Contrary.

XmasTimeMammariesandWine · 13/12/2014 18:57

"How could you call that lighthearted. Wow. Just wow."

AuntieStella · 13/12/2014 18:59

'twinkly fucking troll'

Sounds like the ultimate Yuletide garden gnome

WhyTheFace · 13/12/2014 19:00

I fucking HATE the [lighthearted] shite.

Time was you could post a thread title like "Why is my DH such a cocksucker?" Without some earnest fucker coming along and head tilting all over the place.

MN is packed to the rafters with credulous thickos, trolls, miserable hits and nasty bastards.

NoelleHawthorne · 13/12/2014 19:00

LOOK I HAVE TURNED MY LIFE AROUND and now you lot come on here agreeing wiht the OP

I love lighthearted now

I hate "urgent" threads. If it's urgent don't bloody post it on the internet, go and sort it.

NoelleHawthorne · 13/12/2014 19:01

lol at It's a handy way of identifying threads that are fuck boring.

Miserable hits - ARF

NoelleHawthorne · 13/12/2014 19:03

i sometimes preface threads with
" i know there is a war in _ and people are starving in the Uk... and I do have a job and better things to do and yes sometimes i do find my friends odd but they are still my friends"

ETC

Are you cod??

HelloitsmeFell · 13/12/2014 19:06

Ha yes Caulk the 'Urgent - I've been up all night with symptoms that suggest imminent death, what should I do?' threads wind me up no end.Hmm

I also dislike 'my period is late, I'm vomiting every morning, I've got sore tits and I forgot to take my pill one day six weeks ago, and I shagged four times that day. What on earth do you think is the matter with me? I couldn't possibly be PG could I? [innocent face]

LeopardInABobbleHat · 13/12/2014 19:06

But why do we have to do the usual exclusions and caveats to what is just tippytapping our thoughts anonymously on the Internet? Nobody cares after they've logged off.

ElkTheory · 13/12/2014 19:06

"Lighthearted" annoys me.

I can just about accept "trigger warning," though I personally find it rather silly. Some universities now encourage the use of this phrase to warn students of potentially upsetting content in their courses. Fortunately, my university is not among them. I teach Russian literature. There aren't enough trigger warnings in the world.

WhyTheFace · 13/12/2014 19:07

My worst things in no particular order:

I feel sorry for your children
Sad Sad
POMBEARS
I just laughed so loudly I shit myself all over my breastfeeding baby!

Norks, naice, vair, tis.

I saw someone say Hun without irony the other day

It's all gone to the dogs I tells ya.

usualsuspectsparkly3 · 13/12/2014 19:20

Lighthearted annoys me. It assumes everyone on MN is too thick to get it.

usualsuspectsparkly3 · 13/12/2014 19:23

I hate 'flame away' too.

LeopardInABobbleHat · 13/12/2014 19:30

Flame Aways are usually the first to humph off in a fearful snit when they are flamed.

XmasTimeMammariesandWine · 13/12/2014 19:36

My response to "flame away" is always "OK then"

Sparklingbrook · 13/12/2014 19:38

I hate everyone and everything.
