Aibu to be a bit dissapointed that having followed several hundred posts about an ongoing situation the thread has been pulled before the final outcome? I suppose it was just nosiness on my part but i feel as if the bbc has pulled the final episode of the missing.....i can't be the only one.Xmas Confused

I think that the first three or four posts were probably true but as soon as some posters suggested that OP wasn't perfect the updates got more and more unlikely. By the end of the first thread it was clear that OP was making things up. There was no reason to start a second thread and I was amazed at all the "place marking" and requests for updates. It seemed that some people were determined to believe anything.

WildFlowersAttractBees · 11/12/2014 08:34

Some people must be awfully lonely to find the time to not only make up a load of nonsense but to keep it going for so long. I struggle to keep up with things I need to do in day to day life!

Primrose123 · 11/12/2014 08:44

I believed the story at the beginning of the first thread, but I didn't believe the second at all, it was just too far fetched.

Legionofboom · 11/12/2014 09:00

I quite enjoyed the first thread. I was Hmm at the involvement of management in what appeared to be a private issue but to begin with it was quite entertaining. It did descend into farce though.

I don't think anyone should feel stupid about being 'taken in' by it. I feel bad sometimes about how little I do believe is really true on here.

I think things often start out as true but as people get attention or a flaming then I often wonder how much the truth gets stretched shall we say.

That said I haven't believed much of some of the most entertaining threads I've read on here. I do hate to see other posters getting over invested though.

Jill2015 · 11/12/2014 09:10

I think there was a grain of truth in it, at the beginning. I somehow think it got solved, long before the bells and whistles got added.
The OP might have been trying out a plot for a short story, maybe Grin.

TattyDevine · 11/12/2014 12:07

I believe it was probably true at the start...it wasn't beyond the realm of what might happen in "real life" up till the kind of point where her shifts changed and then suddenly Liftzilla was still asking for lifts despite doing different hours etc.

Assuming it started off based on truth...I wonder what REALLY happened, how it really concluded or if its still going on.

Maybe she went for a coffee with her that day "fuck the muffins!" and gave her a lift home and has been giving her a lift home ever since!

We were hanging on her every word at one point there. She just sounded kind of sweet and dopey and Liftzilla sounded kind of hard and grabby!

Honestly I do think its far more likely it started off based on truth than that the whole thing is a pack of lies, I suspect the OP just got a little greedy.

TheMaddHugger · 11/12/2014 12:33

whispers

I still want an update

Itsfab · 11/12/2014 12:41

I remember the days when made up threads were funny. This one was just crap and I think MNHQ should tell us who her usual MN name is. Until that happens you will always get people making up shit because they think they are funny or clever, or to get stuff from people, when they are just pathetic.

PurpleCrazyHorse · 11/12/2014 12:45

I also think there was a grain of truth in the beginning, possibly getting a bit drawn into the drama of it and it gained momentum.

I got a bit suspicious after the saturday updates from work & the union! But it was an entertaining read for a SAHM who should be unpacking moving boxes!

Off to read the penguin bollards one because someone mentioned the IoW not homesick, not one bit

Gruntfuttock · 11/12/2014 13:25

I wonder whether the OP's IP address gets banned when a thread has been deleted as it's not true. Does anyone know? Just curious.

IAmLiftzilla · 11/12/2014 13:29

No idea but I was sad to see the thread go... I was enjoying the drama.

toldmywrath · 11/12/2014 21:43

I rather enjoyed the Liftzilla saga & also followed a link to the penguin bollards one (now that was fascinating-obviously not for the OP, sorry OP)
It's rather unusual for me to be reading a thread that's making headlines as it were. I usually stick to a couple of tv & radio ones, & rarely post elsewhere.
I still thought the liftzilla one was true Blush

CaulkheadUpNorth · 11/12/2014 21:45

I don't think it can be IP address, as people come back with slightly different usernames. I think it's the email which is banned.

londonrach · 11/12/2014 21:45

Maddhugger......me too (i still took story/problem at face value)

CrapBag · 11/12/2014 21:55

I believed it but even I got suspicious at OP getting a week off work and LZ getting suspended or whatever the OP called it. I believe everything because i'd never make up a thread and I don't see the point. I always take people at face value which is why I am a sucker.

ninaprettyballerina · 11/12/2014 23:13

There were added elements which must have been based on some truth as they added little to the story eg, her DS moving schools and on this basis alone I think the thread was started honestly but obviously quickly became embellished

CupidStuntSurvivor · 12/12/2014 00:11

The point at which it became obvious she was a troll? The post where she was told to take a week off by the union rep not management, seemingly to save her the inconvenience of having to say 'I am not giving you a lift'.

Skinnydecafflatte · 12/12/2014 07:06

I too was suckered in and quite enjoyed the first part. I started to question things when she changed her shifts easily to match her husbands. I'm sure she had DC and I couldn't figure out how she could change childcare arrangements so easily and get someone to watch them at stupid-early o'clock (I'm a childminder)
Shame...

DoesntLeftoverTurkeySoupDragOn · 12/12/2014 07:08

The point at which it became obvious she was a troll?

For me it was when work were at all interested in a personal dispute.

Although I had my suspicions from the first few posts.

Jill2015 · 12/12/2014 08:34

Predicted real story 1) cheeky mare from work has a lift every day and stops paying petrol 2) op says am not taking you anymore 3) cheeky mare says OK. the end.

Can't stop laughing at this, but yes, I agree, that is more than likely all that happened.

happyhats · 12/12/2014 09:13

I enjoyed liftzilla at first but it ended up like the plot from lost! agree with the others who thought it started off true and deteriorated into craziness and nonsense!

MonstrousRatbag · 12/12/2014 15:07

Penguin bollards wasn't 'gripping'! It was mildly amusing.

lapetitesiren · 12/12/2014 15:49

The problem with penguin bollards is that I have read my way through 40 pages twice and found the happy ending but have a little niggle that makes me want to go and read the initial thread before the land was bought by op. Why am I this interested? And did ops baby arrive safe and sound? And the penguins?
