Aibu to be a bit dissapointed that having followed several hundred posts about an ongoing situation the thread has been pulled before the final outcome? I suppose it was just nosiness on my part but i feel as if the bbc has pulled the final episode of the missing.....i can't be the only one.Xmas Confused

OP posts:
ZenNudist · 10/12/2014 16:13

Pretty much assumed troll due to username relating to problem and endless updates. 2nd thread confirmed it. Still made interesting reading. Got bored by all the 'this is too identifiable' posts. Thought it had potential to evolve into psycho stalker tale.

Don't mind the odd work of fiction. Unless it's an emotional vampire one. Don't like it if other people get too invested, seems a shame for them,

NotYouNaanBread · 10/12/2014 16:14

It got a bit mad towards the end, with the 23 missed calls and the supposed liftzilla still asking for a lift and then being dismissed.

Anybody who behaved like that would be hanging on by a thread, mentally, and could hardly manage in an office environment - it became less believable at the end.

HellKitty · 10/12/2014 16:21

I just had my doubts when LZ called Ops H at 4:00am for a lift. I can only imagine what my DP would have told her Wink

RowanMumsnet · 10/12/2014 16:25

Hello

yes we're sorry to say that when we did some digging there turned out to be LOTS of red flags associated with the OP. (Apologies to the person who was deleted for troll-hunting - we should have spotted this sooner.)

We frown on these sort of TAATs but there seems to be a need for closure here so we'll let this one run a bit longer so everyone sees the explanation

Thanks
MNHQ

HarlotOTara · 10/12/2014 16:25

I think it started in reality and the became a tall story as the OP enjoyed the attention. If Liftzilla was really making all those phone calls etc. then I felt very sorry for her as she was obviously not in a good place.

frankie001 · 10/12/2014 16:27

Oh no! Am completely gutted. Loved that thread.

Finola1step · 10/12/2014 16:30

Ooh the lift thread!

Bunnyjo · 10/12/2014 16:37

I was one of those that reported the threads, but I was a good girl Xmas Grin and didn't troll hunt on the actual threads polishes halo.

However, it was clear to see that the story was getting more and more ludicrous with every post.

Genuinely Xmas Confused as to why anyone would make up stories just to get the attention of a bunch of internet strangers...

MonstrousRatbag · 10/12/2014 16:42

It started off small and then snowballed. By the time they pulled the 2nd thread it was longer and more detailed than the Lord of Rings and Hobbit films put together. Only no Viggo Mortensen.

DoesntLeftoverTurkeySoupDragOn · 10/12/2014 16:44

the OP raised a lot of red flags.

File me under U for Unsurprised.

PrincessOfThemyscira · 10/12/2014 16:52

Can anyone give a little plot synopsis?

stillwearingaredribbon · 10/12/2014 16:54

File me under U too
How could anyone be taken in. The second thread was started when it had all been sorted out at work
How could she know there would be further updates??
Its all a bloody fairy tale on here
I feel sorry for posters who really do want advice they get lost in the tales everyone loves

Trickydecision · 10/12/2014 16:56

I am wildly curious about the red flags. Does it mean that the OP had many previous threads deleted because they were implausible, or that the previous threads seemed OK, but gave a totally different picture of the OP's life and circumstances?

Mrsstarlord · 10/12/2014 17:04

Princess - me too :-)

Roussette · 10/12/2014 17:09

Can someone tell me what TAAT stands for? Have been on acronym list but it isn't there...

Another Unsurprised here. Started well then get more and more ludicruous.

Thread About A Thread

Fudgeface123 · 10/12/2014 17:14

I really don't understand people who make up threads...why? What are they gaining by doing it?

Sad
Fudgeface123 · 10/12/2014 17:16

Princess, in short, the thread was about a woman at the OPs work who constantly asked for lifts, despite the OP saying no. She was reported to work and was hauled in for a bollocking but still didn't get the hint and was still asking for lifts. She apparently googled the OPs husband's work and rang him in the early hours asking for lifts

It was all quite entertaining really, certainly had me hooked for a while

Roussette · 10/12/2014 17:20

Thanks WhatsgoingonEh Smile

SunshineBossaNova · 10/12/2014 17:21

I had a chinny reckon about it.

Momzilla82 · 10/12/2014 17:22

I'd like mumsnet HQ to reimburse me for the hours spent reading these two threads and as a consequence penguin bollards 2 threads as well. I was looking forward to the conclusion

Sister77 · 10/12/2014 17:22

Omg! People have so much time on their hands! How on earth did she/he think of this?!

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe2726 · 10/12/2014 17:22

Synopsis for Princess (from an 'anti' though)...

  • OP starts thread about colleague with whom she lift-shared for a while.
  • OP doesn't want to lift-share anymore for various reasons and tells liftshare so.
  • Liftsharer concerned how to get to work (back of beyond, no transport)
  • OP says she won't liftshare anymore, she can't.
  • OP then intermittently offers lifts to Liftsharer.
  • Liftsharer doesn't see the difference between these and 'formal' arrangements.
  • OP unhappy about not having received fuel money, Lifesharer eventually writes a cheque, underpaying
  • Various phone calls, e-mails and dialogue between OP and liftsharer - OP says 'no', liftsharer has forgotten English by this point.
  • OP complains to management who round up the chargers and white horses.
  • More requests to liftshare from liftsharer and more rants and upset from OP at being asked to lifltshare.
  • OP changes her working times/days to prevent liftsharer trying to get a lift from her.
  • Management call liftsharer into a confidential meeting; naturally OP knows all the details and surmises that liftsharer has been dismissed or at least suspended.
  • OP reports that she has been given a week off for 'stress' but continues to update her threads, latterly with the news that liftsharer contacted OP's husband for a lift.
  • MNHQ gets fed up and starts digging again.
  • Threads deleted.
conquistador · 10/12/2014 17:31

How annoying!
I actually believed the OP up until the 4.45am phone call from "liftzilla"
I'm an idiot

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe2726 · 10/12/2014 17:35

You're not an idiot, conquistador, I didn't believe any of it from about 100 posts in of the 1st thread and I still clicked on the thread. Now that's idiotic!
