To not buy 'regulation' school uniform

Because firstly it is much more expensive (1 school logo polo top for £7.50 when I can get two plain ones for £5).
Secondly the list states "only shirts (l/s or s/s) with ties. NO open neck blouses for girls. Dd2 hates tight things near her neck or feeling restricted thread hated the shirt tie combo even with top button undone so I have got her blouses with an open neck as she will be comfier.

Db was horrified (his daughter is also starting school at the same time) and he said I am wrong to deliberately get the 'wrong' uniform

of course you are being unreasonable1 if the uniform specifies 'noopen collars' then why on earth would go out and buy and open collar shirt? your child will get in trouble-you will be told she has the wrong uniform

YABU - the uniform is there for a reason if it states she needs a shirt up to the neck she will need one.

Buying plain supermarket uniform instead of logoed is fine, but I wouldn't be the wrong style of shirt.

If the uniform states that she's specifically NOT to have an open necked blouse and she's to wear a tie, YABU. Also, something the other kids will notice and probably pick on her for. Not saying it's right, but it's true - kids can be little shits.

Is this a secondary school? Children often get into serious trouble for not wearing regulation uniform (there is no need for the inverted commas - it IS a regulation).
Schools will find ways of helping people who genuinely can't afford them. You can also complain to the governors if you think the uniform is unnecessarily expensive. However, if you send your children in to school without the correct uniform expect to hear more about it.

She won't wear a tie, the dcs who wear the logo polo won't be either but if they wear a shirt its meant to be with a tie. I've got her plain polo tops, short sleeve open neck blouses and long sleeved ones for winter

You're the parent that sets themselves up to be a pain. Why would you deliberately set out to be obstructive. Clearly says no open necked shirts and what do you buy. You're not going to be there when your daughter is getting hassled for wearing the wrong uniform. You're DB is right you're a PITA.

There ought to be a clue in the name.

'Uniform' meaning 'all the same'.

You will be told to go out and get the correct uniform so you have wasted your money.

Try the peter pan collared blouses that button up but are softer and less constructed. Sainsbury sell them.

Yes, I do think YWBU- unless it's a polo shirt always worn under a jumper and there's no risk of anyone seeing it.

Our school insists on logo'd items that I could get generic ones much more cheaply in Asda, but that's life. The uniform is the uniform is the uniform.

She was just so uncomfy trying it on and generally hates anything near her neck that I didn't get the tie etc as I don't want her to feel uncomfortable

I would suggest you stick the polos then. The blouses will not be acceptable. The school has explicitly stated this.

then you get the logoed polo top.

yes it's more expensive but that's life i am afraid.

In winter they will have jumpers on so logo'd polo shirts are a step to far IMO given they won't be seen and are twice the price for one than anywhere else.

Dd hates anything tight around the neck too. Keeping cool is important for her because of her eczema. I but shirts that are 1-2 sizes too big to avoid the tight neck and never do up the top button (I just use the toe to close it a bit)

All this expensive logo'd stuff for primary school kids who loose it or get it mucky is a huge waste of money tbh.

Sending her deliberately in a shirt that is against the uniform sounds like you are looking for trouble.
