To expect a Nurse lead by example?

shouldacoulda · 21/07/2014 17:03

And practice what they preach.
Have just clocked the overweight nurse that did my recent health check, smoking like a chimney and munching on a chocolate bar!

This is somebody who sat there and lectured me on cutting down on carbs, eating oily fish once a week, not smoking and to drink in moderation.
It's a bit rich!

We expect fitness trainers to be fit and lead healthy lifestyles.
So, surely somebody who's job it is to advice people on healthy lifestyle choices should also be fairly fit, of a decent weight and not be puffing away like a chimney.
How can we take their advice seriously otherwise?

Or am I being unreasonable? (I know they work long hours and there's a lot of stress), but surely the ones that are doing the health checks and doling out 'healthy living advice' should be an advertisement for what they're saying?

Fideline, you kept repeatedly asking me the same question when I wouldn't answer - is that not repetition?

No. I didn't.

You are confusing me with someone else, I think.

CaptainTrollolololol · 22/07/2014 00:02

No me totes doctor.

FidelineAndBombazine · 22/07/2014 00:04

Sienna I think you cracked this one a long way back. It's tedious nonsense.

Remind me not to ever get involved in a trolldar contest with you Grin

SiennaBlake · 22/07/2014 00:09

BIBIDIBEEPBEEPBEEP

I just wish they'd be more inventive! Where's the drama?! Grin

shouldacoulda · 22/07/2014 00:12

Loving the Troll label.

Dont agree with the OP? Call her a troll. Now that's what you call NOT inventive.

But as you say - this is getting boring.

OP posts:
FidelineAndBombazine · 22/07/2014 00:13

True. You know you're knocking on when even the trolling is not as good as it used to be Sad

shouldacoulda · 22/07/2014 00:14

Said like a true 'troll hunter'.

Sorry you didn't get much of a 'rise' out of me.

Ok this makes a bit more sense. If you were randomly pulled in to be subjected to unsought advice which wasn't even relevant to you it would be very understandable to be grumpy about the person offering the advice.

It was interesting that the very fit and active HCP posted about people preferring her less 'perfect' colleague. She was probably talking about people who wanted the advice in the first place.

OP, did the HCP advise you to change something you don't want to change?

FidelineAndBombazine · 22/07/2014 00:15

But as you say - this is getting boring.

Ah is there actually a danger of you saying anything interesting or can we all safely fuck off to Fairy's upcoming Kate Middleton thread?

sugar21 · 22/07/2014 00:15

Read the book called Hospital Babylon

shouldacoulda · 22/07/2014 00:16

Yes, please do fuck off go away now.
Switch the light off on your way out! :)

Blimey, I thought she was off to bed? I've watched an hour of telly & come back & it's still capering & still not managed to wind anyone up?

Lot of effort to go to to still just have multiple posters think you're acting in a manner appropriate to a bit of a twat.

Try a name change & give it another go on Friday, there are more people drunk enough to bite...

( Please start a KM thread Fairy )

FidelineAndBombazine · 22/07/2014 00:18

Well I've done mani and pedi (three coats) Raven and been quite prepared to try to get annoyed/upset just out of pity really, but it just isn't happening. I tried.

Mhmm name changer/newbie and all.......

SiennaBlake · 22/07/2014 01:22

I agree. PBP or, going by the style on the other thread, someone who's name changed for the night so they can be a twat.

GodDamnBatman · 22/07/2014 02:30

Well, if you're using her own weight as an excuse to be lazy with yours, it's only yourself you're hurting. She's giving you medical advice. Take it or not.

Personally, I'd want to be healthy. But that's just me.

Don't take it out on a nurse because you want to resist being healthy.

If you want to be fat, own your shit and do it because you cba to be healthy. Not because a nurse suddenly gave you a teenage complex of "I won't!!"

GalaxyInMyPants · 22/07/2014 06:29

Problem is if she'd been skinny you'd probably have been moaning that she had no idea how hard it is.

Maybe she's already lost 5 stone?

Least she probably has empathy. I know skinny nurses could have empathy as well.

GalaxyInMyPants · 22/07/2014 06:33

Also my dad was 64 when he died. All that planning for a pension and see what happened to him.

Eliza22 · 22/07/2014 07:29

YABU. Health care professionals will advise on healthy lifestyle choices in order that you can make an informed decision. So can they.

settingsitting · 22/07/2014 07:49

Some types of threads are so unoriginal. It is weird that they manage to follow the same pattern as everyone else.

settingsitting · 22/07/2014 07:50

I'd still like to know how old he/she is!
