Work harassing me while on maternity leave

Lilannii · 07/07/2014 10:42

I found out I was pregnant April last year and after asking the home I work in to put me down for shorter shifts was declined I took my maternity leave ASAP. Since then they have made a list of bank staff and text them with available shifts for the week, but it's every single day. My little one is 5 months old now and these bloody texts keep waking him up! I shouldn't have to silence my phone all day every day. I never opted to be on this list, I even told them late December I had quit. I get about 8 texts a day, I have called them twice last week, the first time the person in charge was supposed to call me back and never did and the second time the receptionist was supposed to pass a message on, I have called them this morning and am waiting again for the person in charge of the list to phone me back. Does this constitute harrassment?? What can I do about this? It's driving me nuts. Especially when little man has been ill and only just drifted off to sleep them to be woken by work texting

What is this case you want to build?

What are you hoping to achieve? And is it truly worth the extra hassle and frustration that you could avoid totally by simply blocking the number?

DottyDooRidesAgain · 07/07/2014 21:08

It's like you want to be harassed Confused

mercifulgibbon · 07/07/2014 21:08

Why would it even matter if you don't get bothered by it anyway? This is just so bizarre. Why do you even care?

JumpRope · 07/07/2014 21:10

Op clearly doesn't think it's right and feels harassed, so for peace of mind wants to feel heard. 8 texts a day is a lot.

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 07/07/2014 21:10

Why do you need to know if the automated system keeps on calling you after you have sent in your resignation letter? Confused

Lilannii · 07/07/2014 21:12

because if they send me more texts after I have resigned that is definetly harassment.

DottyDooRidesAgain · 07/07/2014 21:13

But if she blocked the number she would be none the wiser therefore no issue. No harassment. No waking of baby.

DottyDooRidesAgain · 07/07/2014 21:15

No it's not it a automated freaking machine!

It is human error for not removing you but it is not bloody harassment.

Jesus OP do you really think you were so special that they have time in their busy working day to target you?

If you block the damn number you will never know.

I actually think you want to be harassed. I think you thrive on the drama.

zeezeek · 07/07/2014 21:16

Is this actually for real? Because, I refuse to believe that someone can be THAT stupid and ignorant!

fawltydoge · 07/07/2014 21:16

BUT IF YOU BLOCK THE NUMBER YOU WILL NOT GET ANY MORE TEXTS FROM THEM EVEN IF THEY DO KEEP SENDING THEM!!! YOU'LL BE NONE THE WISER! HOW ARE YOU NOT GETTING THIS

breathe

mercifulgibbon · 07/07/2014 21:16

Only if it is actually bothering you. Which it won't be if it's blocked?

I get the feeling we are speaking to a martyr here.

DottyDooRidesAgain · 07/07/2014 21:17

BECAUSE SHE IS AN IDIOT OR A DRAMA LLAMA OR BOTH!

fawltydoge · 07/07/2014 21:19

definitely a martyr thriving on the drama. the drama of nothing

SquigglySquid · 07/07/2014 21:21

because if they send me more texts after I have resigned that is definetly harassment.

You like the drama. Just admit it. You do.

You must have an easy life if you need to create something to complain about. :)

mommy2ash · 07/07/2014 21:24

I have to admit if the op came across at work as she does on this thread I wouldn't remove her from the list for kicks. I bet they are recording the phone calls about the baby waking up solely from the work messages and her inability to silence the phone on principal and the broken button and laughing their asses offGrin Grin

SadOldGit · 07/07/2014 21:26

You have said you are still on the bank (not resigned) . The texts are sent to all the bank staff ergo you get them. Maybe they even think that as you are on the bank list you want to work!

Resign, block the number - lots of us do when we see "number withheld" ie work hassling for extra shifts - its not hard

DottyDooRidesAgain · 07/07/2014 21:27

Well her baby does sleep a lot and only wakes up when work text. Not when anyone else texts apparently but then she has a special phone that keeps her awake so she doesn't drop the baby as she sleeps standing up (horse fashion). Leaves her a lot of spare time to think up fake harassment scenarios ponder her navel.

I don't quite believe I just typed that Confused

Doodledotmum · 07/07/2014 21:27

The me me me generation that thinks they are so hard done to and everything is an infringement of their civil liberty? Hysterical thread about some one being pissed off my an error on an automated system. Doesn't want to just sort to out sensibly but is getting herself into a frenzy.Maybe we should all claim harassment from every call centre with auto dialling. I had 10 calls yesterday while at home ...

DottyDooRidesAgain · 07/07/2014 21:29

Screw the fuckers doodle build a case and everyfing Wink

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 07/07/2014 21:31

Firstly, Lilannii, I am not sure getting automated group texts would rise to the legal standard of harassment.

Secondly - if they do carry on texting you, what do,you plan to do about it? If you think it is harassment, what are you thinking will be your next step? And what is that step, supposed to achieve?

DottyDooRidesAgain · 07/07/2014 21:34

And what is that step, supposed to achieve?

FREEDOOOOOMMMMMMM

Sorry nostalgic Braveheart moment.

LeBearPolar · 07/07/2014 21:36

Do you think people who have little men are also married to hubbies or hubsters?

hobblebobble · 07/07/2014 21:37

Oops that's funny

LeBearPolar · 07/07/2014 21:37

Am I the only one enjoying the irony of a phone which is simultaneously required to keep the OP awake and castigated for keeping her little man awake?
