to ask when breakfast things are cleaned up in your house

In the Toad household, we all have porridge for breakfast. That leaves a porridge pot, four bowls, cutlery, some porridge on the table and probably a few other things left out like the sugar. There is also crumbs etc from lunch-making. I generally clean this up when I get in from work and start making dinner.

Is this feral?

Sounds normal to me

gamerchick · 09/06/2014 19:20

Might be easier to put straight into a sink of hot soapy water and then wash when you get in. Porridge is a pig to get off when it sets.

I do mine after the school run, but I don't go to work until 4pm.

fanjobiscuits · 09/06/2014 19:21

Sounds fine to me. Ours is done at breakfast but only as it's used again at lunch

Imbroglio · 09/06/2014 19:21

I normally come home to everyone else's lunch stuff on top of the breakfast stuff.

Dreaming of a dishwasher one day.

CrohnicallyHungry · 09/06/2014 19:22

If it is, then I am also feral. I would rather have an extra 5 minutes in bed than make time to wash up after breakfast. I'd run some water into the cooking pan and bowls, and then just abandon it all to be cleaned up after work. If I'm feeling really organised I'll do it as soon as I get in, rather than cleaning up at the same time as making dinner!

FayKnights · 09/06/2014 19:22

Same here! Not enough time to wash pots in the morning.

LemonBreeland · 09/06/2014 19:23

Everything is cleared to the sink to be washed at night if I'm'm at work, or later in the morning if I'm not.

If dh is around and not me then everything is left on the table. I hate this.

BrokenToeOuch · 09/06/2014 19:24

They're cleaned up at breakfast time here. I'm a SAHM but am out most mornings, I couldn't leave the house knowing there was a pile of dirty dishes waiting for me when I got home!

Mumof3xox · 09/06/2014 19:25

On a work day ours can stay out til tea time unless dp gets chance

On a non work day usually done after school run

DefiniteMaybe · 09/06/2014 19:27

I wash up all dirty dishes after tea each day. Thats whebn the kitchen gets its daily scrub down.

littlegreengloworm · 09/06/2014 19:27

We have to be ou of the door by 8am. We usually have cereal and toast. I do them as soon as I get in.

littlegreengloworm · 09/06/2014 19:28

It's usually 4pm

grocklebox · 09/06/2014 19:29

yabu. Adding "to ask" doesn't make it an aibu question, why do people do that.

Clear up your dishes whenever you like.

ChazzerChaser · 09/06/2014 19:29

Always left till after evening meal whether I'm at work or home. We only wash up once a day. So mugs from the evening would wait nearly 24 hours

5madthings · 09/06/2014 19:30

I try and get it all in the kitchen sink before school run and cereal etc back in the cupboard and table wiped. They get washed when I get back from school run or with lunch stuff or if I am out all day before starting on dinner.

MeanwhileHighAboveTheField · 09/06/2014 19:32

Always do them before taking the kids to school. Sometimes so early that a couple of breakfast bowls miss the breakfast dishes and are left til lunch, or supper...

CoffeeTea103 · 09/06/2014 19:33

Dishwasher unpacked the night before so morning/ lunch dishes go straight in. Quick wipe down in the morning and proper clean after supper.

Flisspaps · 09/06/2014 19:34

Saturdays.

popmimiboo · 09/06/2014 19:37

DH is a clean freak and washes up straight after breakfast. I
usually chuck things back into cupboards and wipe down surfaces before rushing out the door.
I just couldn't stand the idea of coming in to a messy kitchen.

The rest if the house is usually a bit messy but clean kitchen and made beds are a must!

CMOTDibbler · 09/06/2014 19:37

All waits till the next dishwasher load

Burtreynolds · 09/06/2014 19:42

Stacked in the sink at the very least with the table wiped. If I have time they're put in the dishwasher.

MuscatBouschet · 09/06/2014 19:44

I'm sitting at the dinner table now looking at a box of Special K.

Objection · 09/06/2014 19:45

What is this breakfast of which you speak?

I choose sleep over breakfast anytime (no children)

IShallCallYouSquishy · 09/06/2014 19:45

Straight after breakfast here. But I'm on mat leave so not rushing out to work.

2yo DD will potter between kitchen and playroom while I do it and baby DS will be in bouncy chair on kitchen floor watching me.

rollonthesummer · 09/06/2014 19:46

I put them in the dishwasher and switch it on straight after breakfast every day-even on the days I leave from work at 7.30am .
