To be absolutely steaming about having a free copy of the Sun delivered by Royal Mail?

I know I am not BU. I am going to post it back to Sun HQ in an unstamped envelope ( will probably tear it into pieces before I do). Who will join me?

I would be more pissed off if it was the Daily Mail.

AnyaKnowIt · 09/06/2014 13:21

Have liked and shared the fb page

AgaPanthers · 09/06/2014 13:24

"You would have to have experience of how the Sun hounded the families, reported what they knew to be lies and continued with the level of bile directed at Liverpool, yes they were up Thatchers arse, but no apology can make up for their actions, against the whole of Liverpool. "

The story came from a Sheffield news agency.

hillsborough.independent.gov.uk/repository/docs/NGN000000010001.pdf

And the source was the police.

They certainly didn't know it to be lies. Even when they reported that story they were raising money for Hillsborough victims. It's nonsense to suggest that they continued with a level of bile at Liverpool fans, here's the 'The Truth' paper in full

hillsborough.independent.gov.uk/repository/docs/PRE000000340001.pdf

and it the tone aside from the anger at the (now known to be false) report from the police about fan behaviour is one of grief, not bile.

Yes, I would also be up in arms if it was that as well!

As has already been pointed out, it is the whole choice thing, a person's choice of paper is a pretty personal thing. Am sure there would be quite a few people who would object to having a copy of the Guardian through their postbox too.

AgaPanthers · 09/06/2014 13:27

There is lots of crap pushed through letterboxes. Just recycle it?

TillyTellTale · 09/06/2014 13:29

The original journalists who persecuted the victims of Hillsborough may have retired. But the Sun has not changed.

The News of the World which was also published by Murdoch and was always the Sun on Sunday with a fancy name, became famous for hacking the mobile phones of a murdered child, the familes of dead British soldiers, and the families of 7/07/2005 London bomb victims, as well as many celebrities. And the editor of the NotW when that happened, was the former Sun editor.

RedToothBrush · 09/06/2014 13:33

If there was a public inquiry into the handling of a disaster by the authorities and a paper that was heavily criticised about their part in it decided that sending out free copies of their newspaper nationally whilst it was still ongoing, you'd think there would be a few questions asked about their motives.

Wouldn't you?

Clearly not.

I think the fact that they are not distributing in Warrington is more significant than Liverpool. Yet no one seems to have picked up on this.

SauceForTheGander · 09/06/2014 13:33

Dinsmore seems like such a twat. I don't want a copy of The Sun for many reasons.

Recycling doesn't convey the message though - and my issue is with The Sun and their shit propaganda & Royal Mail - they shouldn't be doing this but I suppose that's what we get from a privatised mail system.

Does the sun have a freepost address? I doubt it. Maybe I'll just post it back through the nearest post box so Royal Mail can deal with it.

Birdsgottafly · 09/06/2014 13:34

Aga, I'm not detailing the thread, if the hatred in Liverpool towards the Sun was unfounded, then we would be getting it through our letter boxes.

PossumPoo · 09/06/2014 13:34

well Mrs asking why people would boycott something they feel very strongly about just so others can get their 'freebie' utter fucking shite paper does not come across as empathic. Even if you say you are Hmm

Scousadelic · 09/06/2014 13:34

If anyone would like to support the Skelmersdale post workers please see this article from the Liverpool Echo here

Birdsgottafly · 09/06/2014 13:37

""I think the fact that they are not distributing in Warrington is more significant than Liverpool. Yet no one seems to have picked up on this.""

It is on Merseyside, Unions are backing the Skelmesdale staff in striking against this.

The Liverpool Echo has been reporting on this, there is already talks about staging a reaction.

Birdsgottafly · 09/06/2014 13:38

X post with Scouse.

KenAdams · 09/06/2014 13:38

There is a petition

manicinsomniac · 09/06/2014 13:41

I didn't know any of the stuff agapanthers posted. But now I do it makes me a lot less angry at the Sun tbh. It's a crap paper with a reading age of about 8 and I don't like page 3 much but I think the Hillsborough thing may be a little unfair as a) other papers did it too b) it wasn't the current employees that did it and c) they gave an official apology.

When are these getting delivered? I don't particularly want it as it takes up space in the recycling and I don't want to be seen as illiterate for having it in my house

marssparklesdownonme · 09/06/2014 13:41

I do not live in Liverpool , but I will not have any Murdoch papers in my house or Sky for the reasons quoted by Tilly and Wapping. I have just put a note in my window saying politely no thanks to the scum on thursday. If I see the postman before that I'll be speaking to him about it too.

Larimarbleu · 09/06/2014 13:47

Manic, the Sun had the most graphic pictures of the victims, out of all the newspapers.... It was completely unnecessary to show them imo.

Chipstick10 · 09/06/2014 13:47

The last time I looked up from reading the mail and the sun this country was a democracy, people can read any old paper they chose

SelectAUserName · 09/06/2014 13:49

Exactly Chipstick. So those that want to can get off their arses and wander down to the shops to choose their own right-wing shit.

HighwayDragon · 09/06/2014 13:50

Excellent, I shall papermache with mine.

VitoCorleone · 09/06/2014 13:51

Why are they even doing it anyway?

AnyaKnowIt · 09/06/2014 13:51

And that same democracy gives me the right not to have it through my letter box

Oh wait...

Fenton · 09/06/2014 13:53

This is all kinds of wrong.

what the fuck are they thinking? what went on in the meeting when they dreamed this one up??

::hey I've got this idea, let's post a free copy to the entire county to celebrate the footy!!

::er yeah great idea, you know that's not going to float their boats in Liverpool right? Hmm

::okay okay, free copy to the entire county except Liverpool

::well that's okay then

REALLY?

Guitargirl · 09/06/2014 13:54

Of course people can read any paper they choose - which they are free to purchase from a shop of their choice. I can also democratically decide to not have that shit in my house.

AnyaKnowIt · 09/06/2014 13:55

Is it for the footy then? I was thinking some verdicts might be due soon
