To be absolutely steaming about having a free copy of the Sun delivered by Royal Mail?

I know I am not BU. I am going to post it back to Sun HQ in an unstamped envelope ( will probably tear it into pieces before I do). Who will join me?

They've said June 12th so they should come tomorrow I think.

Fifi, I never once took my top off when feeding DD. So it is not the same at all. My DD NEEDED feeding. There is no actual need for anyone to look at breasts in magazines or newspapers.

I've never seen anyone sunbathe topless.

fifi669 · 11/06/2014 10:57

No I'm one of those live in the real world, don't see discrimination/offence/abuse in every god damn situation.

I refuse to get worked up because a model isn't wearing a top. I refuse to get worked up because someone wants to give me a free paper.

I think you need a hobby.

Andrewofgg · 11/06/2014 10:58

No AnnaLegova I am not. But this is to be a special edition with no Page Three.

If it did have the usual then the posties would be carrying soft porn again every time an MNer returned it without a stamp!

I am concerned about the wider issue of the posties taking it on themselves to decide who can post what and to whom. Thin end of a dangerous wedge.

fifi669 · 11/06/2014 10:59

You may not have got your boob out, many do, my friends included. If once again I fail at being discrete I will prob end up boob out too. Your child may have needed feeding, what they didn't need is for it to be in full public view.

Mckayz · 11/06/2014 11:01

I guess you never go out for a meal then as you seem to think that people need to hide to eat. Babies are people too.

AnnieLobeseder · 11/06/2014 11:01

Mine will be sent back, possibly along with a telephone directory, to:
FREEPOST, The Sun, London E98 1AX

I did the same with UKIP leaflets and it was VERY satisfying.

AnyaKnowIt · 11/06/2014 11:02

Or eat with a blanket over her head...

JohnFarleysRuskin · 11/06/2014 11:12

Boobs aren't the problem. It's the reduction of women to a pair of tits in a 'newspaper' that's a problem - not for you fifi, we understand you are far too busy to worry yourself about such trivial things (despite being on mumsnet) - but for some of us it is.

Sonotkylie · 11/06/2014 11:13

I asked my postie nicely this morning if I had to have it and he has agreed not to deliver it to us. If there is a problem I shall send it back. I am familiar with the existence of both the sun and the world cup and if I was interested in either I would go and buy a copy.

The sun is peddling 'views' of a sort, which to me is very different to mailshots. Even without page 3, I don't want it and should not have it forced on me in a way which I cannot refuse. It does illustrate the problem of Royal Mail as a national service provider and a commercial entity very well. Not that I have a solution ...

JohnFarleysRuskin · 11/06/2014 11:13

FREEPOST, The Sun, London E98 1AX

Excellent. I'll do it too!

I have a friend at the Sun. He says most people don't like it. Tis orders from above, apparently.

RedSoloCup · 11/06/2014 11:26

I just had this, it's only really a world cup promo thing, don't see the fuss like all junk mail read it or recycle it :).....

Sparklingbrook · 11/06/2014 11:29

You opened it Red? Shock

Advertising Standards Authority T&C on direct mailing and what constitutes harm and offence:

www.cap.org.uk/Advertising-Codes/Non-broadcast-HTML/Section-4-Harm-and-Offence.aspx#.U5guXijZf9s

Presumably that's why page 3 had to come out, due to likelihood of widespread offence in para 4.1. Likely why furriers and BNP can't do mailshots.

If the direct marketing material breaches ASA terms, RM can pull it in para 4.8.1:

Post Office T&C: www.royalmail.com/sites/default/files/RM_General_TermsConditions_Mar2014a.pdf

ShakesBootyFlabWobbles · 11/06/2014 11:32

and now with working links...

Oooh lovely. I needed some extra paper for my Bonfire pile. That much shit would keep it alight brilliantly

If you want to lodge a complaint to the ASA about this advertising material, here is the link. Mine is now submitted.

There is no need to sunbathe topless.

For you, possibly.
Many of us prefer to sunbathe naturally - without hiding selected bits of skin under silly little triangles of cotton.
There is nothing dirty or disgusting about any part of the human body. If you don't like it, look the other way.

Nancy66 · 11/06/2014 11:48

Just writing FREEPOST on an address doesn't work.

It has to be followed by a valid licence number

AnnaLegovah · 11/06/2014 11:56

I'd be interested to know how big these 'mini' versions of the Sun are going to be - I know some posties have complained about the added load. And they have a right to refuse to carry them on that basis.

I spoke to my own fantastic postie this morning - he's certainly not happy about either the added workload or the moral implications of having to post the Sun through every door. He said some of his colleagues are asking the union why they aren't getting more involved in this, at least on the manual handling issue.

IncognitoErgoSum · 11/06/2014 12:08

Nancy66, that is the address (without licence number) that The Sun publishes for writing to the agony aunt column.

LadyNexus · 11/06/2014 12:11

Sorry but.....ha ha ha fucking ha ha!

I actually spilt my water laughing at 'I live in the REAL world don't ya know where I don't see discrimination, offence blah blah'

Where is this magical world where all aspects of life are NOT tainted by discrimination, bigotism etc.

If you can't see it it just means you are too fucking thick to work out what's going on around you, or are just too ignorant to care.

Grin Gave us a good laugh though.

Nancy66 · 11/06/2014 12:12

I still don't think it will work - I'm sure there must be weight/volume restrictions.

Enjoyingmycoffee1981 · 11/06/2014 12:19

Oh it's a dirty scummy paper that I would never buy in a million years.

Can't promise I won't read it over a cup of tea though, if I get one posted to me.
