Doctor kissing my baby

I have been thinking about this over night and now I think I need some opinions. Ok so yesterday I took my DD to her 8 week check, the doctor was very umm, enthusiastic. She took DD straight away for cuddles and said it was the best part of been a doctor. She was very gushy about how beautiful and perfect DD is, then she started kissing DD. A lot.
I was a bit weirded out but I didn't say anything. I told Dh when he got home from work and he thinks that it is creepy and I should report her.
I think she just got a bit carried away even if it was strange, I'm not sure if it warrants reporting though.
Would you say it is unreasonable to report or would you shrug it off?

I wouldn't think anything of it tbh. She sounds lovely and your baby sounds gorgeous! Grin

Why was it "creepy"? That's an odd word to pick.

I think she sounds smashing. My doctor is like a humourless robot

Absolutely nothing wrong with it, IMO. I would be chuffed, I love it when people gush over my baby!

It’s a bit much but she wasn’t acting with any bad intentions, babies are just irresistably kissable! You could have said at the time if it made you or baby uncomfortable but I don’t think it needs reporting now.

I think that the Dr is probably genuinely pleased at holding such a new baby. Maybe she was OTT, but she must deal with so many difficult/sad patients that it was lovely to hold your baby.
I'd take it as a compliment now, but politely ask her not to if she continues.

She is our PLB and I do admit I found it weird, but thinking it over the doctor was just a very bouncy gushy type of lady. Dh thinks that doctors should show some restraint and be professional. He is a miserable sod though Grin.

She sounds lovely! I'd much rather have had her for dd's 8 week check, rather than the miserable mare we saw.

I can understand why it took you aback, GP's do tend to err towards being miserable sweeping generalisation

Your DH does sound a misery though.

I loved the trainee GP who treated PFB's eczema and always announced that her fee was a cuddle - I am always so pleased when people admire my babies!

Just took PSB for his eight week check and the doctor was totally joyless and efficient. I couldn't believe anyone could handle a baby so impersonally - it's natural instinct to coo and cuddle and I'd much rather that than the robotic approach! I mentioned to my husband that I was glad I had no concerns as I can't imagine confiding anything to this particular doc!

Not sure what you mean by 'creepy' really - how can it be creepy to cuddle a baby? Did you suspect her of sinister motives? Because that strikes me as a very odd reaction to perfectly normal behaviour.

A bit over the top but what would you report her for? "The doctor was too nice to my baby"?

Oh, and it would be awful to report her! It must be miserable being a GP sometimes and having to look at people's hemorrhoids etc, don't try and suck the little bitof joy out of her day that getting to cuddle a lovely new baby must bring!

Had a patient in a couple of weeks ago who phoned up and asked if baby could come. I said of course but if he's a wake I'd love a cuddle. He was all smiles during our 5 min cuddle chat. Mother certainly seemed to enjoying showing her beautiful baby off. Hope I wasn't too strange wanting to cuddle him but babies just need cuddling!

I feel really sad that consideration would be giving to reporting a doctor who shows a human side and loves babies. How heartbreaking for her if she was reported for that.

DH is definitely miserable. Some people are more tactile/expressive than others.

Please don't report her. For all you know her previous patient could have had very bad news and she needed some positive time with your beautiful baby. Sounds like you have a lovely doctor!

She might just really like baby cuddles. Better this than the doctor I had for dd 8week check, she looked like she had never held a baby before in her life. Even only 8 weeks into motherhood and I was more comfortable handling dd than her!

Eeeeee, this takes me back.

15 years ago I woke up to a strange man in my dining room cooing over dd in her pram. Turned out to be her doctor who'd come round to introduce himself, he was lucky I didnt phone the police !!

Some people just go gooey around babies. Your dh is being foolish btw.

Our much-missed and much-loved woman GP, who sadly died because she wasn't looking after her own health, used to love holding my daughter when she was a baby, and once made a big detour across a busy clinic waiting room just to tickle her toes.

And even the crustiest, sternest old male doctor once gave her a little pat and called her sweetheart and melted my heart.

Be glad that there's still room for some human contact in medicine these days.

What wOuld your husband report nice doctor liked my baby thats ridiculous, maybe she was over enthusiastic but she sounds lovely and a bqby does make your day sometimes, kind of feel sorry for the gp tbh
