to ask what your toddlers have been upset over today?

Dd is just turned 2 and has a cold so is feeling rather delicate. Today she has got upset because:

I told her to be careful she didn't drop a toy onto her feet as she was barefoot and it was near the edge of the table. She cried like I'd actually made it happen.

A daisy she picked wouldn't re-plant into the grass.

The rabbit ate the carrot she gave it.

I washed her coat.

Her doll cried.

Confused

Please tell me it's not just my toddler that's high maintenance today??

Nope not just yours. She sounds adorable though.

Dp and I are both public enemy no. 1 today.
Me because I booked DS (2.6) a haircut and made him go. Dp slightly more so because he took him and had to restrain/distract/bribe him during the cut.

He ignored daddy for about 2 hours after it happened and is apparently at granny's regaling anyone who'll listen about what happened to his 'lubly haaaaiiiir' and how mean daddy is.

2 year old-because I helped him take the lid off his yoghurt AFTER HE ASKED ME TOO!
4 year old-because he squashed his milky way in a temper then I refused to buy another one.
...and a multitude of other reasons. Is it bedtime yet?

Absolutely bloody everything - both of them.
I offered breakfast. She didn't want it so I took it away. She wanted it.
I wouldn't let her play with the washing as I was sorting it.
Her brother sat next to her on the settee.
I let him play upstairs but I didn't want to sit up there with him so came downstairs.
He had the car and she had the tractor. They both wanted both to themselves.

I could go on and on but I'd be here all day. It's the third day in a row that I've been home with them on my own. Dh has been at work/gone to a football match and everyone else in the whole world is at work and I feel lonely and isolated. Roll on Tuesday...Sad Sad Sad

Because she had an old 'ouchie' on her knee (from a few days ago that she had forgotten about and it's so tiny you can barely see)

Because her necklace got dipped in her icecream (even though I told her to watch it was dripping)

Because her hands were sticky.

Because she wanted to cut the sausage herself (using the wrong side of the knife we told her she needed a big person to help)

Because the sausage subsequently fell on the floor.

Because when given a new piece of sausage it looked different to the first sausage.

Because she wanted to drink the open apple juice poppa that had been in the car for over a week and we told her it would be yucky and give her a sore tummy.

Because her bow fell out of her hair.

Because she didn't want a nap.

Because she wanted some water in a bottle not a tippy cup.

Now. She sleeps. Wine

Because the cat caught a mouse (fair enough) then a massive bird (magpie?) Stole the corpse and the cat was annoyed.

because the car was going the wrong way (push along car and he was pushing it) because he gave his brother a toy (and he accepted) because daddy left the room because daddy entered the room because he wanted the milk because he didn't want the milk

my teenager howled like a baby because she couldn't go to her friends house we had told her to tidy her room before she went she believed that meant push everything around for 5 minutes i gave her three (THREE) chances she was adamant dirty washing was supposed to be on the floor rubbish too (from christmas its may fgs?) she did not go to her friends house

my middle child was put in time out/quiet time so much it became ineffective so i put his toys in time out he is now much better Grin

Phew glad it's not just mine!

She just dropped a bit of banana on the floor and so called the dog and told him to eat it. Then cried because he ate it Hmm

Because we ate birthday cake at my sister's house (which means he gets spoiled by her) then went to a funfair and he went on lots of rides, had just chips for lunch (as it was a special treat day) and then he was bought special fancy sweeties from the fun fair sweet shop.

If anyone can tell me which bit of his day caused him to cry all the way home it would be enlightening.

17 month old.

Because I wouldn't let him beg chips off a stranger at the cafe
Because I wouldn't let him eat gravel
Because I got upset when he lamped me in the mouth with a bunch of keys
Because he couldn't see his dad
Because he could see his dad
Because he couldn't hit a bulldog with a hammer.

I could go on. He is teething/has a cold. I am counting down every second till bedtime.

My 3 year cried because Grandad said, "Silly Grandad"... which made DS run away in tears. Confused

He cried the other day because DP folded his menu into an aeroplane. Then as soon as it was unfolded flat again, DS folded it back into an aeroplane!

I remember when my DD had a spectacular melt down because her toy hippo had been washed (at her request because he she said he stunk worse than the guinea pigs) I just lost it and just sat and cried my eyes out.

After a moment of stunned silence, she came across and said, "never mind mummy, lets have some milk and I'll read you a story" and her little arms came around me and she tried to give me a big hug. All of 2 she was.

Lovely memories. :)

because i wouldn't let her colour in the tv

because i asked her to eat her yoghurt herself and she wanted me to feed her (perfectly capable)

because i didn't have ice cream in the car and said she could have some later

because i asked her to stop whining about ice cream in the car

because someone who was coming wasn't here yet

because i wanted to put a clean pull up on her

because she was on the potty and wanted on the toilet instead

because when she was on the toilet she then wanted on the potty

because i wanted to put her car straps on

because she wanted to bring her soft toy in the car (try asking for it?!!)

exhausted.

My 15 mo was upset today because:

The lawnmower was turned on
The lawnmower was turned off
DH went upstairs
There was no hummus left at the end of lunchtime
I went upstairs
She had torn a flap off a lift the flap book but it wouldn't stick back on
She had had enough of Granny
Granny went upstairs
....and so on.... Grin

6cats Blush now you've said it it seems obvious thanks. I initially thought he was overtired or excited but he would have fallen asleep in the car as it was an hours journey home, so I was stumped trying to figure out what was up.

jan we have had the nappy meltdown all day today too. He currently has a pooey bum and is eating a green crayon (non-toxic, I hope) and I don't have the strength to deal with I either problem.
