to ask what your toddlers have been upset over today?

Dd is just turned 2 and has a cold so is feeling rather delicate. Today she has got upset because:

I told her to be careful she didn't drop a toy onto her feet as she was barefoot and it was near the edge of the table. She cried like I'd actually made it happen.

A daisy she picked wouldn't re-plant into the grass.

The rabbit ate the carrot she gave it.

I washed her coat.

Her doll cried.

Confused

Please tell me it's not just my toddler that's high maintenance today??

also when i wouldn't let her eat frozen chicken. i offered her the cooked chicken, but she wanted the frozen bit.

also because her granny isn't here

finally she is asleep, got to get fired up for the rest of the day

Because I gave her. Chocolate button when she asked for a sweetie,

Because when we got home from a lovely day out we hadn't bought her the bean bag spider in the shop - which she had been scared of and didn't want to go near, let alone want - but had got her the lizard instead which she had asked for....

My DS had a sobbing episode today because I asked if he'd like tuna in his sandwich, he likes tuna but not today apparently. The sobbing only stopped when I said 'DS do you realise you're crying about tuna?' He then paused and said 'hmm yes I am, that's not sensible' Hmm he's 5.5 not even a toddler!

I did have a little chuckle to myself at the farm we visited today when a little one was crying because 'the cat not say hello me mammy' to which his mammy replied 'well no it won't, for a start it's a rabbit!'

Haha love these
We have had tears when:
Her milk was in the wrong cup
Her milk was cold not hot
I told her she couldn't turn the oven on and put her head in it.
There were other children at the park
She didn't want to get in the bath
She didn't want to get out of the bath
She didn't want to go to bed
She didn't like that I said taking her bath duck to bed with her wasn't a good idea.

She is currently asleep snuggled up with her duck! Normally I can manage it better but at 40w pregnant I am now ready to cry too!

Because after his first ever bus ride we had to get off the bus and the bus drove away.
Because he didn't want to choose a cake for being a good boy in the shoe shop. Then he did. Then he didn't...
Because I couldn't carry him around town when he usually walks perfectly well (he's a massive 2 1/2 year old and I'm 28 weeks pregnant.
Because I wouldn't let him put his fingers in a pan of boiling watet.

Today's actually been a pretty good one. Trying to ignore the inevitability of toddler plus newborn hell in a few months... Hmm

There wasn't a newt in the bucket of water he said was a pond.

Report
natwebb79 · 05/05/2014 21:09

Ah yes. Because I wouldn't let him sit in the middle of the road in protest. In protest of what I'm not quite sure but by the reaction he obviously thought it was in breach of his human rights...

Because DS1 swapped the lids on their cups to not matching colours. He didn't notice till half way through dinner but it was just awful until I gave in and swapped it back.

This morning DS1 cried because the sun was in his eyes. He had come into our bed around 6am, the thick curtains were closed and the lights were off Hmm
Later he cried again because DS2 looked at him!

We have just returned from a weekend away. A few things DD (2.9) has considered worth crying over this weekend have been;

Her ice-cream was cold.

Refusing to take her shoes off to walk on the beach, but then crying because there is "beach in my shoes".

Wanting to watch an episode of Go Diego Go without a baby jaguar in it.

Not wanting to get in the car at all - even though she really wanted to see the donkeys, a 30 minute drive away. "Me walk" (complete with folded arms & pout).

And my personal favourite;

"My corn on the cob is too yellow" Grin.

Also, is it just me with a toddler whose 'cry' is like a foghorn-volumed banshee?? It has been since birth and I'm envious when I see toddlers tantruming at a volume that doesn't set off car alarms...

Report
SmashleyHop · 06/05/2014 08:32

natwebb you haven't heard banshee screams until you've heard my ginger DD go off. I never believed kids could scream like she does- it's unnatural. It's worse when you're driving and she lets rip. I've nearly crashed the car on a few occasions.

DS is the constant wail like a fire engine that never stops. It's annoying but at an octave I can live with.

Because I wouldn't let teddy use the downstairs toilet as a bath.
Because I took teddy out of the toilet so he couldn't finish his bath.
Because I put teddy in the 'pinny wownd' (spinny round = washing machine) so he could finish his bath and actually get clean.
Because teddy was wet.
She's just coming out of the napping phase...

I too have a teenage boy and a pre pubescent massively hormonal girl.
Pity me...

And all you lovely people have the teen years to come.

I have a teenager, a pre-teen, and a toddler.

Today we had a meltdown because I wouldn't let her wear two non-matching shoes. Not only were they not a pair, they were both left shoes!
