to not understand why people consider McDonalds to be a "treat"

TalkinPeace · 13/03/2014 15:22

if I want a family "treat" meal I go somewhere with fresh, favoursome food made especially for us.

Why do people take their kids somewhere that sells the lowest common denominator of food and call it a "treat" ?

I love McDonalds. I say love, that's a slight exaggeration, but I get a craving for it now and then. So do I go all the time? No, about three times a year. Haven't taken my DS yet though imagine I will in the next year or so.

Cheap TASTY (to me) food most certainly can be a treat.

I find it really genuinely odd when people think their personal opinion on something subjective like the taste of food is a fact.

TrinityRhino · 17/03/2014 21:19

I love a big mac

yum, extra pickles

lovely salty chips

freezing cold fanta

no cooking, no cleaning up

kids love it, the toy is fun

I cant wait till we can go for a maccy ds Grin

treaclesoda · 17/03/2014 21:23

Well, I think I have the answer. Everyone who has said that they enjoy McDs and find it to be a treat must simply remind themselves next time they're there that they should not be enjoying it, in fact they can't be enjoying it, because someone else has decided for them that it is simply Not A Treat. Fact.

That should do it Wink

Jellypoppingcandy · 17/03/2014 21:28

About 4 times a year I enjoy chicken nuggets medium fries & bbq sauce

TrinityRhino · 17/03/2014 21:30

troubleatmillcock · 18/11/2015 16:35

Its not cheap.

You are hungry an hour later.

Freezingwinter · 18/11/2015 16:38

Because I like the taste and know it's unhealthy so I have it as an occasional treat? Hmm

Iliveinalighthousewiththeghost · 18/11/2015 16:40

Not every family can afford to eat at the Ritz or the Hilton. like you.To some people McDonald's Is a treat.

I wouldn't go there for a treat for me but will take dd as a treat for her. A happy meal is only £3 and comes with a toy and she gets to use the tomato ketchup dispenser which is her absolute most favourite thing. The food itself isn't even that terrible for you. There's worst things then chicken nuggets and chips every now and then. I think the foods gross and usually just have a coffee but why not let dd have something she enjoys rather than something I enjoy sometimes.

Terri, why have you searched for a thread about this just to post an inane comment.

Do you work for McDonalds?

Cloudyflower · 18/11/2015 16:46

They go because they like it. Hth.

EnthusiasmDisturbed · 18/11/2015 16:47

I don't think food should be used as a treat

ds loves McDonalds so do I and we have it occasionally

we eat out a lot, for him it is not something special but even if we didn't the eating out is the treat not the food

Iliveinalighthousewiththeghost · 18/11/2015 16:48

Yeah it does seem pretty strange for a zombie thread about Maccies from the olden days to be resurrected. It's hardly the most interesting topic in the world is it. Mind you says me, who's posted twice on the threadGrin

TurnOffTheTv · 18/11/2015 16:52

I often wonder how these get resurrected? Google?

LilacSpunkMonkey · 18/11/2015 16:54

It's Terri's only post too.

Strange.

gandalf456 · 18/11/2015 16:57

To me, McDonald's is disgusting. My daughter, now 11, doesn't like it anymore and prefers healthier stuff but my son, almost 7, loves it and sees it as a treat so we take him. Is that really so wrong? It's not as if we go every week.

shutupanddance · 18/11/2015 17:00

Love a mcd now and again

bishboschone · 18/11/2015 17:02

I must be the only person who finds IKEA food disgusting .. People go on about the meatballs etc .. It's all gross. I don't overly like macdonalds but I'm not a snob about it . The kids like it , it's just chicken and potatoes and it won't hurt them once in a while.. Get over yourself !

TwoSmellyDogs · 18/11/2015 17:04

Standard procedure. This person will almost certainly now start a whole bunch of soup/nutrition threads. Or bump another zombie and then start the food threads because she's been called out on this one.
God - so fucking tedious.

LilacSpunkMonkey · 18/11/2015 17:09

Indeed, TwoSmelly.

And people are already posting on this thread just based on an OP from 18 months ago. Just proves that people don't check what they're reading or read the whole thread.

Too many bitch ploppers on this site.

DrCoconut · 18/11/2015 17:11

Because it's yummy. Fattengingly, tooth rottingly yummy. There. I like fruit and veg a lot but a McD's is awesome every once in a while. That is key, the occasional nature of it.

Ain't that the truth. As Descartes might have said "I post, therefore I am"
