to not understand why people consider McDonalds to be a "treat"

TalkinPeace · 13/03/2014 15:22

if I want a family "treat" meal I go somewhere with fresh, favoursome food made especially for us.

Why do people take their kids somewhere that sells the lowest common denominator of food and call it a "treat" ?

Had a Big Mac meal and nuggets for a 'treat' tonight, bloody lovely!!!

FiscalCliffRocksThisTown · 16/03/2014 07:56

Fuzzpig, that is true

Merlotmonster · 16/03/2014 08:27

Ive been lucky enough to dine in the most amazing restuarants....however, when a Mac Attack strikes, then nothing quite beats a big mac and fries!!!

sassytheFIRST · 16/03/2014 08:35

Macd's is cheap, quick and absurdly tasty. The kids eat one every couple of months, I hadn't had one for prob a year then had 2 within 6 weeks. Enjoyed, but...got the raging shits 3 hours later both times. Perhaps I need to eat it more frequently to accustom my bowels? Wink

FiscalCliffRocksThisTown · 16/03/2014 08:43

I think McD always tastes if nothing and is very dry.

I never actually enjoy it much. KFC however....

VikingLady · 16/03/2014 20:57

This bloody thread - I've been craving McD all day!

blanchedeveraux · 16/03/2014 21:19

Nothing beats a drive through double cheeseburger with medium fries and a chocolate milkshake. Nothing I tell you. Nothing. Not a bloody thing.

OlympiaFox · 16/03/2014 21:38

I like an occasional McDonalds, I've only taken dd twice and she loved it and behaved very well because the food arrived quickly, was warm rather than boiling hot (as more establishments than not have served my toddler) so could be eaten immediately and she liked the food.

It's very child friendly, as a treat it's fine because it's the exception, no harm in it when 99% of your meals are perfectly healthy.

fuzzpig · 16/03/2014 21:46

We went to mcDs today. Before doing a bit of shopping.

In ASDA.

TalkinPeace · 17/03/2014 13:59

Fuzzpig
only if you went to Primark afterwards Wink

I'm not eating today (on my kooky fasting thing) but still do not fancy McDonalds!

Had an amazing curry delivered on Saturday that came in at £8 a head for all we could eat of lovely varied (mostly vegetarian) stuff.

YoureAShoe · 17/03/2014 15:43

Is this thread still going? Grin
I had homemade burgers, didn't quite hit the spot but good enough. I'm doing a sponsored slim so cannot have mcd's!

OneOfOurLilkasIsMissing · 17/03/2014 17:29

The kids and I are just about to head out to Maccy's!! Woo Grin Been craving it so badly since this thread started

Spero · 17/03/2014 18:08

I have just had half a bag of pick 'n' mix and feel SICK. There are worse things to eat than Maccy D's op...

TalkinPeace · 17/03/2014 19:02

Spero
Maccy D is food.
Cheap, fattening, filling food ; it is not a special occasion treat

OP posts:
Spero · 17/03/2014 19:09

OP THERE HAS BEEN A WHOLE THREAD EXPLAINING TO YOU THAT SOME PEOPLE ARE DIFFERENT TO YOU

Please don't say we have to do this again. Please.

wordfactory · 17/03/2014 19:13

When people say 'treat' they mean not something they would do every day.

Be that because it is expensive, or difficult to obtain, or unhealthy.

It is entirely subjective...which means you have to have a basic level of imagination to undertand didffferent people's take on it Wink...

treaclesoda · 17/03/2014 19:17

I'm Grin at the thought of the OP deciding for other people whether something is a treat or not.

Are they not allowed to decide for themselves then?

Spero · 17/03/2014 19:19

Ok, lets go again. Cricket, jazz and anything similar is boring shite and henceforth banned. BECAUSE I DONT LIKE IT.

Do you see the point I am making here op?

You see, bizarrely, I thought I had already made this point at enormous and tedious length some 400 posts ago.

Delphiniumsblue · 17/03/2014 19:20

Of course not treaclesoda, there are always people who think something shouldn't happen if they can't understand it!

Chippednailvarnish · 17/03/2014 19:21

I'm Grin at the thought she might want everyone to go to Ikea, as it's much more nutritionally superior to McDonalds.

Delphiniumsblue · 17/03/2014 19:22

I would say that is precisely why it is a treat TalkinPeace, it is not everyday food.

fideline · 17/03/2014 19:32

Wow. This is getting circular.

Hey ho, only 327 posts to go Smile

sanityawol · 17/03/2014 19:47

Chipped there's always the horse meat thing... ikea had to withdraw their meatballs. No horse in McD's burgers though.

How can something be nutritionally superior if they can't even get the right ingredients listed on their food? Grin

sanityawol · 17/03/2014 19:51

There should be a disclaimer on my last post. I've never set foot in an ikea. I'm sure it's lovely, but my nearest one involves driving for 3 hours each way so I've never found it necessary to go.

perplexedpirate · 17/03/2014 20:01

McD's is crap as their veggie option tastes like a bag o' vom.
I miss Burger King's spicy beanburger.
And their fries were better (controversial)!
