I obviously could be very wrong.

I'm counting all the rain as one

mousmous · 07/03/2014 19:46

mousmous · 07/03/2014 19:47

KirjavaTheCat · 07/03/2014 19:48

Don't say stuff like that! Shock

Did you miss the 200 mph storms in the Philippines?

maddening · 07/03/2014 19:49

the tsunamis in the decade have been huge, there have been lots of natural disasters really.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 07/03/2014 19:49

Apart from some sort of infectious disease, the slow but inexorable disaster that is climate change, giant meteorites hitting the planet or super volcano going off I can't think of any other disasters that would affect the globe. Giant meteorites and super volcanoes really don't happen very often at all. What sort of thing were you envisioning?

Twintery · 07/03/2014 19:49

I am thinking like the disasters that affect 50,000 people.

Just a general feeling I have had for a little while now.

We've had loads of natural disasters in the last few years.
Phillipines typhoon, japanese Tsunmai, earthquake in ?Turkey.
I am sure there are more..

JapaneseMargaret · 07/03/2014 19:51

Crikey, there have been a few natural disasters recently - cities flattened by earthquakes, tsunamis, etc. With all due respect(!), you speak like a true inhabitant of a country that is devoid of natural disasters, save a bit of flooding, from time-to-time.

Or do you mean Noah's Ark-scale disasters....? Hmm

OhYouBadBadKitten · 07/03/2014 19:51

As for disasters that happen on a local scale as billybanter says there was the super typhoon and there was the earthquake that hit Japan. There's also various slightly more minor weather disasters I can think of too.

JapaneseMargaret · 07/03/2014 19:51

X-posted...

lljkk · 07/03/2014 19:51

are you generally a doom-mongered?

lljkk · 07/03/2014 19:52

*frigging autocorrect, doom-mongerer !!

OhYouBadBadKitten · 07/03/2014 19:52

Impending sense of doom can be linked to general anxiety. Is life ok for you at the moment?

Guitargirl · 07/03/2014 19:52

I vaguely think about this quite a lot. Not sure why as there's nothing much I could do about it anyway. Am sure that people who live in areas which have been badly affected by war, famine, flood, earthquakes, tsunami, volcanic eruptions or something else equally horrific feel as though their world has already been disaster struck. Just as in the same way the World Wars didn't actually affect the whole world but parts of it which are familiar to us in this country. Anyway, am just rambling now but I was thinking the other day that we are probably due some kind of plague...

NewtRipley · 07/03/2014 19:52

How strange

hiddenhome · 07/03/2014 19:53

What, are you bored or something?

Does the sight of thousands of screaming natives desperately clinging to life somehow stimulate you?

Do you have money burning a hole in your pocket and you're dying to donate to DEC? Confused

Catsmamma · 07/03/2014 19:56

Yellowstone is overdue to blow....that might be something you'd notice.

Failing that, Betelgeuese is set to become some sort of supernova and will be at least as bright as the sun anytime in the next million years.

FrequentFlyerRandomDent · 07/03/2014 19:59

The 2004 tsunami killed 230,000 people in fourteen countries.

The Kashmir earthquake killed 75,000.

Surely that is enough.

Twintery · 07/03/2014 19:59

OYBBK, broadly ok thanks!

Some of the disasters listed are not that recent I dont think?

OP posts:
Bowlersarm · 07/03/2014 20:00

I'm with you OP.

I have had an unsettled feeling, for a while. I have a morbid feeling there might be some sort of a disaster looming (financial crash, Ukraine, North Korea etc), or yes, a natural disaster.

MrsCakesPremonition · 07/03/2014 20:01

Mount Vesuvius is over due and could take out Naples. I find that really scary.
