glad to her you have been sleeping. go and get some more sleep and relax. (if that is possible with someone kicking hells bells out of your bladder) i would also say take some deep breaths, but have remembered the feeling of having lungs pushed up somewhere near your ears...

Pipbin · 18/02/2014 23:54

It makes a bit more sense why they are upset now. Still, doesn't excuse bin lady.
I hope NT (nice tenant) will set the story straight. Good idea to go for a pint.

TheOneWithTheNicestSmile · 18/02/2014 23:55

I think Mr was using Mrs's car that day because his was in for MOT or something? Not sure his garage has gone yet (I am also shocked at how much detail I recall, Emmeline Grin)

Mrsdc, I did wonder if that was what they thought - I'm sure LL has no intention of coming clean himself about what a crook he's been Angry

Mrsdavidcaruso · 19/02/2014 00:04

Random Due in August

The one - DH is still using his garage as BIL is not going to be able to take it over - it makes sense as he has a lot of stuff in it and he can bring it in slowly.

I am taking it easy what with a 3 year old a new puppy and 3 cats and a working from home husband its a bit hectic here at times

TheOneWithTheNicestSmile · 19/02/2014 00:18

well I do hope that Nice Tenant will put the others straight now, Mrsdc, & that you can start taking things properly easy (as far as you can with a 3 year old a new puppy and 3 cats and a working from home husband Grin)

by the time the new baby lands in August your lovely garden-with-penguins should be all sorted out Smile

Mrsdavidcaruso · 19/02/2014 00:22

Penguins ordered 2 large ones will be delivered to my sister in London and bought to the Island in May - have to have a welcome penguin party
all Mums Netters invited.

Will need names for them nearer the time - Bill and Ben are fav at the moment

17leftfeet · 19/02/2014 00:24

Are both the penguins the same size? Grin

Terrortree · 19/02/2014 00:27

Look after yourself. I have read your thread with interest from the outset, but I am saddened that you're obviously feeling quite distressed of late.

In my experience one will always find people who will embellish a story to shore up support for their 'rights'.

Thankfully, you've found an advocate for your situation.

The truth will out, but that doesn't mean you, or your DH, need to put yourself in the firing line of the messenger.

As for behaving like 'you own the island', remember you are a landowner within the island! You have rights too - turning a wasteland into a lovely garden does its bit too! You have my vote!

Best wishes.

OddFodd · 19/02/2014 00:28

Glad to hear you sounding so upbeat but go to bed

Actually I should do that too

Ooh you could invite just the nice tenants to the penguin party too! Funnily enough I will be on the Island for a whole week in May :o

BlackeyedSusan · 19/02/2014 00:30

perhaps I should lend you ds, he rants at me in pingu he would fit right in with the penguins. he is already offered as a celtic woad covered warrior for the fyf though.

TheOneWithTheNicestSmile · 19/02/2014 00:56

Percy & Penelope Penguin Smile

AcrossthePond55 · 19/02/2014 01:02

Glad that Mr has been able to set the record straight. I'm sure Nice Tenant will let people know and all will calm down.

Your home sounds busy and happy. But, maybe you should book yourself a nice hotel room nearby for a night and just check in and sleep!

RealAleandOpenFires · 19/02/2014 05:03

Great news there Mrs DC Grin

Not to add more stress et cetera...But I would be careful of "Miss. Mad Bin Laden lady" as she might decide to try and poison your pets in revenge (for loss of HER parking space)!. Any chance of putting up a moving cctv camera facing the path towards the communal door/or your drive way to tape her, just in case?.

I reckon that your penguin's would be better off, a 1/8-1/4* cars' length inside your drive way (covered by a "tracking camera"), just in-case she manages to remove them or get them removed by an innocent company).

I don't know if this suggestion would work...you call a meeting with your brief, the tenants & their LA and then explain to them all...that if "Miss. Mad Bin Laden lady" didn't kick up a fuss about you moving from your parking place & your brief didn't search about the land, they would still be parking and you, would be none the wiser. So anger should be directed at the LL and take him to court for false advertising et cetera...

*I wonder if the Traffic Wardens/Cops would be interested in a driver trying to reverse into/or block on-coming traffic? Wink.

oldnewmummy · 19/02/2014 06:39

Have loved this thread.

De-lurking to suggest that you find out Bin Lady and Shouty Man's first names (perhaps Nice Tenant can help) and then name the penguins after them. Think of all the fun you can have talking loudly to your penguins every time they walk by your lovely garden ...

TheDoctrineOfSnatch · 19/02/2014 07:03

I think talk of poisoning pets is melodramatic! Given that tenants asked for the name of the solicitor rather than coming round and keying cars or anything, no reason to assume they will move on to pet murder.

Morgause · 19/02/2014 07:22

I think the tenants will mutter a bit but get over it. They will realise it isn't OP's fault the LL lied to them.

wowfudge · 19/02/2014 07:49

Good grief RealAle that wasn't necessary, was it? I think the OP has more sense that to worry about something as unlikely as that though.

Whatever the tenants had been thinking doesn't excuse the bad behaviour, but it sounds as though things have calmed down. How about Bin Lady and Shouty Man as names for the penguins?

jasmine3663 · 19/02/2014 08:24

We had annoying neighbour problems a few years ago [trespassing]. We installed a 4 camera CCTV system - £200 from Maplin.

Made a huge difference to our problems.

The system was easy to set up and worked! I am sure a search on Google/E bay would find a system that is even cheaper.

might make bin lady think twice about causing trouble

Peekingduck · 19/02/2014 09:48

RealAle, don't you think Op has enough to worry about?

TalkinPeace · 19/02/2014 10:27

I think the penguin naming party could turn out to be quite an occasion ....
might even come over for it!

tb · 19/02/2014 10:31

Just to add, that penguins - the ones in Pingu anyway - speak an Italian clown language Grin

I had an interview in Altrincham once, with the company that was connected, and dd was at an age to watch Pingu, and they told me what the language was. They didn't say how they chose it.

Fairenuff · 19/02/2014 10:33

Put the cctv camera inside the penguin, like Spy on the Ice.

Put up a sign 'The Penguins Are Watching You'.

And little wheels under the penguins so that you can move then around by remote control. They can patrol the area.

BrunoBrookesDinedAlone · 19/02/2014 10:34

OP call your penguins Park and Ride Grin

hamptoncourt · 19/02/2014 10:36

OP please don't worry about future nastiness that might never occur. They are probably just retreating with a few angry words to make themselves feel bigger and better.

Leave them to it. I am sure we can all remember times when we were apoplectic with rage about something or other and a few months on our lives have changed so much that the former issue that kept us awake at night no longer even crosses our minds. Hopefully this is what will happen with Bin Lady and Shouty Man and they will go and annoy someone else and not be your problem any longer.

Just take it easy, and make your plans for your property in your own good time. You have much to look forward to and all of us here wishing you well, so what could possibly go wrong!!

SlightlyDampWellies · 19/02/2014 11:01

Or Park and Ryde.

[snigger].
