To think M&S really shouldnt sell bras

Just pootering online and saw this minimiser bra for sale.

Not only is it far too small for the model but it is padded!

What sort of idiot dreamed up a minimiser bra -worn expressly to make a large chest look smaller -and then added padding. Unbelievable .

It's to stop nipples from poking out?
If you're trying to minimise the appearance of your bust, you don't want to draw peoples attention to the area if you have nipples showing that could be used as clothes hooks, do you?

WorraLiberty · 25/01/2014 14:33

Because light padding gives a smoother outline and stops your nipples showing through?

EBearhug · 25/01/2014 14:35

M&S really should sell bras, on account of them being almost the only place that sells bras which fit me (which I know appears to be the opposite experience from almost everyone else, but I don't have everyone else's body.)

ShephardsDelight · 25/01/2014 14:35

I hate m&s bra's just complete rhubarb!!

Bowlersarm · 25/01/2014 14:38

What's wrong wrong with it??

I generally wear m & s bras, but I also have one from sainsburys of all places, which is surprisingly comfortable, and after numerous washing still holds it's shape well.

WorraLiberty · 25/01/2014 14:42

I buy mine from Asda for £4 Grin

Thumbcat · 25/01/2014 14:50

I haven't bought a bra in M&S since I visited Bravissimo and saw how good a properly fitting bra looks. Trying to find a 30FF in M&S is impossible.

mrsjay · 25/01/2014 14:53

its for modest and shape not to make the boobies bigger

PacificDogwood · 25/01/2014 14:54

YANBU.

I never understood what's wrong with nipples showing? Confused.

mrsjay · 25/01/2014 14:55

some women just dont like them showing

WorraLiberty · 25/01/2014 15:01

There's nothing wrong with nipples showing if the owner of the nipples likes that sort of look.

For people who don't want to show their nipples, there are padded bras.

HoneyDragon · 25/01/2014 15:02

I don't think M&S should sell bras ever since I went to get measured and the woman went

"Oh. What's wrong with you? Not sure we can do ANYTHING for that"

Angry
HoneyDragon · 25/01/2014 15:03

I thought padded bras were just to avoid wrinkles and seams through tighter tops.

Not considered nipples.

PacificDogwood · 25/01/2014 15:04

Fair enuff re nipple exhibitionism Grin.

But M+S are just rubbish for bras, particularly if you are HoneyDragon not a standard size

Binkyridesagain · 25/01/2014 15:04

M&S should start training there staff to measure correctly and start selling bras in a better range of sizes.

ilovepowerhoop · 25/01/2014 15:05

I like some of their bras so they can still sell them. I think they should update their measuring procedures instead.

LoonvanBoon · 25/01/2014 15:08

I'm with EBearhug - m&s bras fit me really well. I've even ordered a few online & found them pretty much perfect (read reviews first to check sizing etc. was standard). Not saying they're right for everyone, but I for one would be very unhappy if they didn't sell them!

mrsjay · 25/01/2014 15:09

i once got impaled (slight exaggeration) with an M n S underwire it came up far to high and dug in , I dont go there now although their bras for teen girls are great dd hates under wiring

VivaLeBeaver · 25/01/2014 15:09

I bet that model doesn't really have DD boobs. They've airbrushed the breasts onto the model.

BillyBanter · 25/01/2014 15:11

Never found a bra that fits me better than M&S bras.

HoneyDragon · 25/01/2014 15:13

I'd be happy if they just trained their staff not to gasp on horror Hmm

It's fine though. It's not like it caused huge issues. It's not as if I just went off and had major surgery, so as not to horrify any more M&S staff.

Oh no. Wait. I did exactly that.
Wink

Owllady · 25/01/2014 15:15

I wear a slightly pad bra because of sociable nipples Hmm

ChocolateWombat · 25/01/2014 15:15

Isn't M and S the nations most favourite place to buy bras? I'm. A very average size and find plenty of choice there, so mi happy. No doubt a bra interventionist would tell me the size I'm wearing is wrong. However I'm comfortable, they seem a decent price and I can get them easily, so I'm happy. Guess they cater for typical people and won't cover everyone. Tats also true of their clothes and no one seems to moan about that. It's right that there are specialist shops too. M and S are not daft and would be making a wider range of sizes if they were money makers. They are not performing a social service to supply the whole nation with bras, regardless of size.

mrsjay · 25/01/2014 15:16

sociable nipples

StatisticallyChallenged · 25/01/2014 15:16

M&S are diabolical, their fitting staff don't have a bloody clue what they are doing (not their fault, it's how they are trained) and they just scale up the same designs for bigger boobs so they don't cope well at all.

The model could easily have DD plus boobs viva, that only means that she has a 5" difference between under and overbust when fitted properly.

For those who can't see what is wrong with the bra:
Look at the left cup (zoom in) and you will see that at the top edge (right of strap) it is cutting in to her breast tissue
Now, left hand cup again, look at the left of the strap. There is a clear bulge of breast. That shouldn't happen, your bra should encase your breast tissue at the side
Now, look at the middle. The central gore isn't sitting flat against her chest wall, it's sitting on her breast tissue
Judging by the wrinkling just visible at the right hand side, i'd say it's also too big in the band

The fit is appalling
