do you shower daily? (be honest!)

obviously if you have a very newborn or you're ill then maybe a might miss a day, but generally speaking do you shower (or bath) every day? I do, but sometimes I might shower in the morning one day but then not shower next until the next evening, if I have a gym session or exercise class planned. I do wear deodorant and clean clothes daily but too many showers irritate my skin and are just a faff. grim, or not grim?

My hair needs washing twice a week. I don't use product or heat on it so it stays in good condition. I add in extra showers when I need to because of exercise, heat or just being a bit sweatier than normal.

Showering every day is a modern thing, with the era of indoor bathrooms and central heating. I dread to think how trashed and sandpapery my skin would be if I washed it multiple times a day for no reason.

DH has more oily skin than me and needs to shower more frequently.

Every day. Feel absolutely gross without a shower in the mornings. Shower in the evenings sometimes. Say around 10 showers a week.

i have greasy slightly olive skin so while I look young for my advancing years, I feel greasy if I don't shower daily. i think what is right for you may in part depend on your skin type.

Polgar: Technically, don't we sweat something like a pint every day without realising it/exerting ourselves??

It's worth remembering that our grandparents probably had a bath a week, and our parents (if they were born in the 1940s/50s like mine) maybe 2-3 baths a week. This obsession with daily showering is very new!

I wash my hair once or twice a week. It's really thick and long and takes ages to properly wash and rinse, and doesn't look greasy until day three. If I'm really busy it might just get scraped back into a ponytail for another day or two. I don't have a shower so it's baths for me, but I will have a bath every day if possible, sometimes every other day and occasionally not for a couple or three days if I'm really slumming, but saying that I have a jug of water for pouring over my fanjo after a wee, and wash my other parts if required.

If I'm staying somewhere with a shower I do like a daily one. it's quicker and easier than dealing with all the individual parts

I also shower daily because I enjoy it, irrelevant of the hygiene issue. I would spend hours in there given half the chance!

Depends. I showered/hair wash last night, didn't need to this morning.
Will bath tonight after gym but won't wash hair until tomorrow pm (horse riding in am, no point until after)
I know when I smell - I can smell myself!!
I think some people think they smell when they don't, and some don't think they do but they do. Stuck my head in my partners armpit post sex the other week and he was moaning he smelt - he didn't at all

Polgar- I disagree with your comment. In my life, I've ranged from being very fit to being very unfit at varying different points. At all times, my body odour situation stayed exactly the same. I could no more go 2 days without washing my pits or arse when I was regularly rubbing half marathons than I could when I was a 16 stone post baby lump.

I think you've got a nasty size-ist attitude.

I usually have a bath every evening but I can go the occasional day without a bath or shower (only if I am not sharing a bed with DH ). I only wash my hair once week.

Hell no!!- I have a shower once or twice a week and one bath. That's plenty imo. I use deodorant and will wash pits and bits if am feeling dirty/sweaty. Dh thinks Im a right clatty cow as he showers every day and twice on a weekend!

I shower daily - I seem to produce a lot of discharge , and also I wet my hair to get the curls to bounce back, otherwise, to quote my dad, I look like I've been dragged through a hedge backwards (wash it every 3 days). And these days I hum if I don't - didn't used to, it's a bit annoying!

I Shower every day unless I'm depressed then I don't feel like it.

But generally it's every day.

More lolz at not having sex on days you don't shower! Why not? And where is the cut off? 23hrs after last shower = fine, but 24hrs = yuk???

And just because you haven't showered in a day, doesn't mean you are dirty!

And finally, if you think people who don't shower every day smell, then i ask of what? Or do you just mean they don't smell of guava and coconuts like you??

In the summer defo yes. With baby, in winter, I occasionally miss a day.

I bath most days. Wash my armpits and bits on the days I don't.

The sex thing for me boils down to 2 things;

1. Smell- if you've been pissing & shitting & enclosing your pubic area in underwear, cotton or not, it will smell. This is undeniable. No matter how well you wipe, traces of urine, faeces & sweat will combine together with a lack of oxygen to cause a dirty smell. That smell especially when 2 sets of genitals are combined, to me at least, is incompatible with feeling sexy. I don't have a cut off point, as you so sneeringly suggested by I would generally want to wash before sex if it'd been more than 12 hours since I'd last washed myself.
2. Taste- all of the above applies and guarantees that I will not be approaching genitals with my mouth until and unless they are cleaned.

Yes, I shower every morning.. So does dh and 11y DD. I also wash my hair every day too. It feels itchy if I dont. I don't feel properly clean without a morning shower.
If I have a shower in the evening for some reason I still shower the following morning.

I only ever have a bath if ill or if my arthritis is playing up. That would normally be in an evening. I don't have a bath to wash though, I wuld still shower the next day.

Oh, I don't think showering once a day is wrong at all. I do it myself (or nearly every day). I just think that judging other people for not doing so is... unnecessary.
