do you shower daily? (be honest!)

obviously if you have a very newborn or you're ill then maybe a might miss a day, but generally speaking do you shower (or bath) every day? I do, but sometimes I might shower in the morning one day but then not shower next until the next evening, if I have a gym session or exercise class planned. I do wear deodorant and clean clothes daily but too many showers irritate my skin and are just a faff. grim, or not grim?

I wash my hair every two days so have a shower then. And a bath every day Blush they're so fab and relaxing and I don't fill them to the top.....
I was one of those teenagers who found it completely uninteresting to wash so I def take a lot more showers now than I used to! Wouldn't be surprised if that's partly why I've had loads more colds in the past year than I ever did before.
I don't do it to be super clean, I'm not a princess who must feel fresh and clean all the time, but it does feel nice and for me it's the biggest treat. That I have every day Grin

AdoraBell · 28/11/2013 15:47

There have been days when I haven't Showered.

I'm sure there will moré.

Genérally I shower daily.

PPaka · 28/11/2013 15:48

Yes
I'd feel yucky if I didn't
And my hair would be disgustingly greasy

polgar · 28/11/2013 15:56

No, every 2-3 days usually. A quick clean of the smelliest parts in the morning is more than enough. It isn't necessary for a healthy human to have a full shower every day, I expect if more people were reasonably physically fit they'd realise they don't need one every 24 hours.

Huskylover1969 · 28/11/2013 16:04

I have one every morning and wash my hair every other day

I have one in the evening too that's when I wash hair
I work 12 hour shifts as a carer enough said lol

PresidentServalan · 28/11/2013 16:05

Every morning even when I am feeling ill, also in the summer I have up to three showers in the evening after work. I wouldn't dream of not showering in the morning - I don't bother with makeup etc (I don't even dry my hair most days!) but shower is essential

MelanieRavenswood · 28/11/2013 16:07

Yes, in the evening

flatmum · 28/11/2013 16:10

i shower every day in the morning. I'd have to be very, very ill not too. It wakes me up and I feel manky and grimy if I don't. 3 o4 times a week I shower in the evening as well.

I think you smell if you dont

yomellamoHelly · 28/11/2013 16:17

Struggle to. Hit the ground running every morning with breakfasts, physio, getting kids dressed, trumpet practice ........ in very limited time. Weekends tend to follow same pattern so have time to do some fun stuff later in the day. But once kids are in school I do try to fit one in. So at moment weekdays yes; weekends sometimes.

JourneyThroughLife · 28/11/2013 16:17

I have a bath every single day because I smell if I don't. I hate showers so I don't use them although I use the shower head to wash my hair (alternate days). And in the summer I might have more than one bath if I've got hot during the day and feel sweaty. I hate being unclean though. I put clean clothes on every day too....eveything, clean, evey day....

Polgar.....what the fuck has being physically fit got to do with needing a shower everyday?
Are you suggesting that those of us who feel the need to wash on a daily basis must be unfit = fat = sweaty ???

That attitude stinks. Pun intended.

FeisMom · 28/11/2013 16:19

So those who don't shower every day, do you change your knickers? Cos that's what your bits smell like without a shower.

SeaSickSal · 28/11/2013 16:21

Yes FeisMom. And they smell fine after a flannel wash thanks for asking.

RaRa1988 · 28/11/2013 16:21

I'm amazed that people shower so infrequently Hmm - to me that's really odd. I shower daily, but most days it ends up being twice as I'll shower either in the morning or before bed and after exercise as well.

Find some of these comments really strange: to the people saying they don't shower every day because it would destroy their hair, why don't you just tie it out of the way? That's what I do as mine can't cope with being washed daily either.

Polgar:

I shower more because I'm physically fit: I run, swim, go the gym A LOT. I couldn't not shower after that. That's gross.

jammiedonut · 28/11/2013 16:23

I have very dry, sensitive skin but I just have to shower every day. I feel greasy if I don't and think I stink to high heaven (although have just been reassured by dh that I don't). Same with brushing my teeth, I have to after every meal or I feel anxious. I've managed to stop myself washing my hair everyday, but still do it 3-4 times a week! Am very aware that I'm a bit weird, but do have a friend who showers three times a day, but only her body. She slaps her make up on with a trowel in the morning and it doesn't budge despite her steamy shower habit. If I did that I'd be spottier than a spotted thing.

SeaSickSal · 28/11/2013 16:25

I do find this obsession with showers a bit odd. Not long ago it was a bath twice a week and flannel washes in between. Not many people stank.

I think a lot of people have been conned by Unilever, P&G et al into a cleanliness/germs hysteria just so they buy all their products.

Well duh, of course you shower after a workout. But if you are fit and don't do any such activity for a few days, you tend not to gain a coat of your own sweat by doing trivial activities.

I shower twice a day on most days. I like to wash the 2 F's twice a day (face and fanny) so I might as well wash what's in between as well. Prefer going to bed after a shower as well other wise I feel sticky and itchy

Sallyingforth · 28/11/2013 16:30

I mostly shower after sex. Fortunately that's quite often :)

FreckleyGirlAbroad · 28/11/2013 16:32

I shower every morning and even with a 10 week old baby have still not missed one day. Personally I couldn't imagine getting dressed and leaving the house without one.

I think as a nation, we the British have a reputation for being a bit skanky Re personal hygiene, sadly!! Where I live they call it an 'English shower' when you just spray on some deo instead of having a shower!!!! I was quite offended when I heard that,!!!!

TeaAndSconesTwice · 28/11/2013 16:34

I shower every morning, my hair needs washing every day.
I also bath about 2-3 evenings a week but that's more just to relax in.

SeaSickSal · 28/11/2013 16:39

I'm calling BS on that. Unless people are particularly smelly if they have a proper wash they won't smell. People are way, way over conditioned to be overly cautious about this.

It's the same reflex that leads people to sterilise their homes then wonder why their kids have asthma and excema and are sick all the time when they end up with no immune system.
