do you shower daily? (be honest!)

obviously if you have a very newborn or you're ill then maybe a might miss a day, but generally speaking do you shower (or bath) every day? I do, but sometimes I might shower in the morning one day but then not shower next until the next evening, if I have a gym session or exercise class planned. I do wear deodorant and clean clothes daily but too many showers irritate my skin and are just a faff. grim, or not grim?

OP posts:

I'm in the same group as Seasicksal. I'm in my 40's and have NEVER smelt of BO so I often don't wear deodorant.

I live in a hot climate and as even anti-perspirants don't stop me sweating I don't wear it every day as nothing changes if I wear it or I don't.

I may go 48 hours between showers but wash very thoroughly between showers and will shower if I feel remotely sweaty or grimy.

Seasicksal, do you also have the odd earwax thing? (ie, not wax, but flaky - something else associated with nonsmellers)

PasswordProtected · 28/11/2013 17:21

Yes, I shower every morning before going to work.

TheGinSoakedBoy · 28/11/2013 17:24

I shower every other day and wash my hair every time.

Sallyingforth · 28/11/2013 17:24

Just to be clear, showering for me isn't the only time I'm exposed to water - I do wash the obvious parts frequently and particularly if I'm expecting them to be visited. But the OP did specify showering.

FeisMom · 28/11/2013 17:24

Sorry but I agree with the stale biscuit smell.

Like it or not we lose dead skin cells and we sweat and other bodily secretions. If they are not washed away then they do start to smell.

I've never got the strip wash thing either, surely it takes longer, you get colder, drench the bathroom more and don't actually get as clean as you would in a shower or bath?

usualsuspect · 28/11/2013 17:26

I don't shower every day,extremely dry skin.

I smell like an old digestive.

skolastica · 28/11/2013 17:29

Daily evening bath for me - less about being clean and more about relaxing. Don't sleep as well without a bath first. Hate showers. Also hate deodorant.

JRmumma · 28/11/2013 17:30

Just because you haven't showered doesn't mean you haven't washed though does it? I can assure you that unless you wash after every toilet trip then everyone will have a bit of wee on them, and unless you wash directly before sex you will also have a bit of a smell so why does it matter if your last wash was at the sink or in the shower?

Its good to know i smell stale and pissy though! Grin

And lighten up, im not sneering at anyone, i thought this was supposed to be a bit of fun!

usualsuspect · 28/11/2013 17:32

MN takes showering very seriously.

JRmumma · 28/11/2013 17:36

Yes it does usual, and you either have to be in the 'i only shower on a full moon and anything else is just decadence' camp, or the 'i shower every time i fart' club. Anything else is unacceptable, even baths.

usualsuspect · 28/11/2013 17:38

Oh yes, the competitive showering makes me laugh the most though.

LittlePeaPod · 28/11/2013 17:39

I shower every morning and have a bath every evening... Maybe I am obsessed. Grin

Tee2072 · 28/11/2013 17:40

I've been trying to decide why anyone cares. Just nosiness?

usualsuspect · 28/11/2013 17:41

I think.mnetters just like people to know how clean they are,Tee.

It's a bit weird how often this comes up on MN.

loveolives · 28/11/2013 17:42

Have a shower and wash my hair every morning. My hair gets greasy very quickly and I do sweat quite a bit.

JRmumma · 28/11/2013 17:44

Tee, not many people do i suspect, its just entertaining reading!

AdoraBell · 28/11/2013 17:44

Ooooh, I'm unacceptable Grin.

AhCmonSeriouslyNow · 28/11/2013 17:53

I was probably more regular with showering when I had a newborn - well, when I had my second - as the shower helped me feel a bit human and able to look after toddler and baby.

Now, it's more or less every day but occasionally every second day. (and sometimes I'll end up showering twice in a day if I had a shower in the morning and then go swimming later on).

HesterShaw · 28/11/2013 18:07

I think.mnetters just like people to know how clean they are,Tee.

Or how OCD they are, usual.

People who don't shower every day are skanky and discusting.

Chivetalking · 28/11/2013 18:09

Shower every morning, bath and hairwash every evening.

Don't know about slight biscuity aromas but I can't be the only one to have noticed there are some properly ripe souls striding the streets and malls. Must be more like a couple of weeks for some of them.

No one has mentioned this but for the people who don't shower everyday what about when your on your period?

I shower everyday. Twice if I go gym and also wash in between. I get paranoid that I smell !

Id never have sex if I haven't had a shower. I don't like getting into my sheets if I am not clean.

A very cruel step father once said I was so filthy that's why I had to bath so much 2/3 times a day when I lived at home.

dogindisguise · 28/11/2013 19:21

I have a shower every evening (I'd rather have one in the morning but that's become impossible with a toddler and a baby).

Meglet · 28/11/2013 19:26

Yes, shower and wash hair every evening.

Shower (not hair) after any morning gym sessions too.

MummytoMog · 28/11/2013 19:27

Well with the mooncup you tend to end up washing your fanny every time you empty it anyway. Or at least I do, because I'm massively malcoordinated.

I've been sniffing away at myself, having last showered on Tuesday morning, and I really can't smell anything. And if someone is mouth breathing across the aisle from me on the tube it makes me want to vomit. So I'm pretty sure I could tell if I stank.

Mitchum is the best thing ever, I always had sweaty pits until I discovered it. Also using an epilator on your armpits. Hurts like hell, but oddly effective at keeping them baby smooth and less stinky.

I could not care less about how often people shower but for the love of god, please breathe through your nose.
