Pegging

I think I have finally battered my OH into pegging me. I know we will need loads of lube but does anyone have any other advice? Must admit I'm nervous to find out what her choice of strap on is lol

OP posts:

I think we need new tent pegs, DH had a heck of a time getting ours in this summer. He kept hitting bumps, it took him ages and he was very sweaty and worn out by the time he'd got them all in.

bumpandkind · 16/11/2013 13:53

I miss pegging, gave it up when I moved from the country to an airless flat in the city. If I peg on the balcony my clothes smell of the south circular traffic.

ConfusedDotty · 16/11/2013 14:04

The biggest drawback to pegging is there's a chance you are going to end up with poo on the bed linen, it's the risk you take unfortunately.

I find if I remove the hanging bird feeders before pegging out the risk is by far reduced.

IslaValargeone · 16/11/2013 14:05

I couldn't peg when we lived in the country because of the smell of poo in the air.

PacificDogwood · 16/11/2013 14:10

At the very least this thread should win the prize for fastest derail Grin.

Once again MN provides me with an education...

Anybody have/like the Brabantia peg bag? Suitable for pegging in ALL weather conditions, even in Scotland

ghostonthecanvas · 16/11/2013 14:25

This has reminded me to take in my retractable line which has been unretracted all summer. Pointless really. I tried plastic pegs but they keep breaking.

ocelot41 · 16/11/2013 14:25

What I want to know is what was the OP doing thinking about pegging at 5am? That's very keen. But everyone knows the earliest you can bang your first load in is when you get up for coffee at 6 ish, otherwise you'll wake the neighbours...(or at least you do in terraces....) Maybe the pegging the OP had in mind can only be carried out in detached properties? Or perhaps he was simply trying to get his pegs lined up for later in the day? In which case, it was admirable forward planning.

LisaMed · 16/11/2013 14:30

I have one of those fancy enamel peg buckets. It is rubbish as it doesn't have enough room for all the pegs needed but at least is perforated at the bottom in case I leave it out. I'm never going to leave it out. I am a dreadful slattern and haphazard pegger but still the Hyacinth Bucket of our street. It would be nicked in seconds.

If you have a rotary line and a peg bag, how do you work the problem of the bag always being the other side of the dryer when you're wrestling in the sheets and just dropped a load?

BackforGood · 16/11/2013 14:30

ConfusedPixie - am SO glad you mentioned that sort of pegging, that's what I thought this thread was going to be about too....

LisaMed · 16/11/2013 14:30
  • a load of pegs...
LisaMed · 16/11/2013 14:31

btw I tried to recommend this thread for classics. It's the first time I've ever tried to do this and my computer had a bit of a dicky fit during - would it be bad form to try again, just in case it did get through?

cardiandcrocs · 16/11/2013 14:32

Thanks for making me Grinyou nest of vipers....

roastednut · 16/11/2013 14:34

Haven't been on mn for a while then read this. Huge Lolz Grin

ConfusedDotty · 16/11/2013 14:37

Ha ha. You lot are great, you have all made me laugh. But, alas I have chores to attend to. I have also missed out on an excellent drying day, it's blowing a hooley up here like.

DrinkFeckArseGirls · 16/11/2013 14:39

The OP has been banned Grin

WhereIsMyHat · 16/11/2013 14:39

My local sell it all shop sells dolly pegs very cheaply.

TheVermiciousKnid · 16/11/2013 14:41

Shock How do you know that the OP has been banned?

I bet he has been banned for improper and disorderly pegging.

ConfusedDotty · 16/11/2013 14:41

I agree Ocelot. 5am pegging is very hardcore indeed, I would struggle to get a load in at that unearthly hour.

Actually I feel a bit of a pegging slut atm because I have the tumble on.

Tinlegs · 16/11/2013 14:51

Living in Scotland, we tend to peg indoors and use a rack. Can anyone please explain if we are doing it wrong?

mackerella · 16/11/2013 14:59

I once saw a cunning peg bag design: you wear it around your waist (like a bum bag) and do the pegging at waist-height using the strap-on.

ConfusedDotty, I am LOVING your work on this thread Grin

PacificDogwood · 16/11/2013 14:59

Oh no, MN will not be the same without the OP and his grand total of 2 posts Sad

Well, I am in Scotland and my pegging, inside and out, is next to none Grin

cuttingpicassostoenails · 16/11/2013 15:01

I used to be a slattern and used a co-op bag for my pegs but a trip to LIDL where I found a beautiful flowery peg bag has turned me round and now my pegging is not only repectable but pretty too.

Shallistopnow · 16/11/2013 15:02

What's a retractable line? Two poles & a line? If so that's what I have. We were in a flat for 6 years so I was very excited to finally have a washing line - DPI took a photo of me putting the first load out, insanely happy.

I use Wilko wooden pegs but do find they pop apart easily and somehow end up on top of the kitchen. I'd like a peg bag for Christmas.

pippop1 · 16/11/2013 15:06

Thank you Urban Dictionary website - very informative.

I've taken my pegs off the line for the winter. The frost cracks the plastic.

ConfusedDotty · 16/11/2013 15:08

Oh no. The OP hasn't pegged out has he? How unfortunate as he could have gleamed many useful tips from this thread.

I just mentioned, in passing, to DP that we might partake in a spot of Sunday pegging if the weather holds out, he was disgusted, totally appalled.

He said 'I have just forked out over £200 on a tumble dryer you went mad for' and then went off in a huff to play with his train set.

I feel truly awful now and may have to move over to the Relationship board. Hmm
