Pegging

I think I have finally battered my OH into pegging me. I know we will need loads of lube but does anyone have any other advice? Must admit I'm nervous to find out what her choice of strap on is lol

Perpendicular- try John Lewis. I got my peg bag there after being very jealous of my friend's. It holds so many pegs it's like a peg TARDIS.

ControlGeek · 16/11/2013 12:01

I've just persuaded DP to go pegging with me in Wilko - yay! I've never owned a peg bag - I feel rather deprived.

My pegging also overlaps, partly to preserve pegs but mostly because I never have enough line space. I am so jealous of all this talk of double decker pegging Envy

LisaMed · 16/11/2013 12:02

Lusting after a pulley now. Our yard is barely big enough for a rotary and there is nowhere that the pulley could go, but a girl can dream.

ConfusedDotty · 16/11/2013 12:06

Sometimes DP pegs alone whilst I am at work, I am fine with this, but sometimes I come home to find a car crash of mismatched pegs on the line. He must go at it at some speed. More than once I have had to remind him to be a little more gentle with my wet delicates.

Lisamed my sister has one and I am sooo jealous. She's also got a fabbo thing for steam pressing clothes which works like a toastie maker and a circular pegging device for hanging up smalls and socks so she can whip 'em in all in one go when rain starts rather than flanelling around like a lunatic and getting soaked in the process. No wash day blues for her, no siree... But then she does have 4 DCs so has had to.become a lean, mean washing machine!

mineofuselessinformation · 16/11/2013 12:11

Where did OP go? Grin
I have to confess I am a peg slattern and leave them out year-round. But I do give them a whizz in the washing machine every now and again....
Am I alone in finding it highly annoying when I go to use a peg but it snaps as it has got brittle?

IslaValargeone · 16/11/2013 12:12

Getting quite hot under the collar at ocelot's sister having a steam presser.

KatoPotato · 16/11/2013 12:13

I hear bovril is is a great lube for rusty pegs

thegreylady · 16/11/2013 12:13

Ocelot are you my dd? She has a sign saying Futility Room and a big wooden ceiling hoist for clothes drying. Pegs are reserved for Summer :)

gordyslovesheep · 16/11/2013 12:14

Plastic pegs here - they never match and my line is disorganised - I am a slatternly rebel

Ezza1 · 16/11/2013 12:14

Can I just warn you all off of buying pegs from poundland or similar? They are rubbish. One bit of sunshine and they discolour and go very brittle.

I'm not sure if they would fare better with a bit of lube oil to make them more supple?

ocelot41 · 16/11/2013 12:17

Isla it is most Fabby. Once fully revved up, it takes a mere half an hour to do all 4 DCs clothes for the week. Course you have to lube it up right first, whisper sweet nothings afterwards...

ocelot41 · 16/11/2013 12:19

greylady doubt it! My own DM is PETRIFIED of t'internet. And a pegging traditionalist.

DidoTheDodo · 16/11/2013 12:19

Ocelot, I''ve got one of those racks-on-pulleys jobs. it is called (apparently) a Sheila Maid. After I have pegged washing on the outside line I air it on that thingy and it is really brilliant. I thoroughly recommend it to one and all.

IslaValargeone · 16/11/2013 12:21

Sounds like too much hard work ocelot
I like to go straight to sleep after laundry duties.

ConfusedDotty · 16/11/2013 12:22

I sincerely hope to OP enjoys his pegging sessions as much as we ladies do. He hope he comes back to tell us all about it, technique, any overlaps and more importantly how long his sheets took to dry out.

JudyJudgypants · 16/11/2013 12:23

DidoTheDodo I've had a lot of success by "airing it on a thingy", I highly recommend it [Grin]

ocelot41 · 16/11/2013 12:27

Can the OP tell us how he deals with streaming windows on days when pegging is undesirable? It's very troublesome...

enriquetheringbearinglizard · 16/11/2013 12:29

I was feeling quite smug here because I have so much kit.
A rotary line for when I feel like pegging outdoors, it has a nice zip up cover for protection keeping it clean when not in use and colour coordinated pegs which never get abandoned outdoors. I also have a linen tardis-like peg bag which lives on its own special hook in the futility room.

The futility room has a pulley airer for when the weather's inclement.
So far, so smug then.

But now I'm worried. When I use the pulley I also use whispers
coat hangers.

Am I normal?

I'm also fantasizing about a prop, even though I don't have a long line Hmm I think I might be Confused do I need to seek out a 'support' group?Grin

ocelot41 · 16/11/2013 12:29

Isla heartless I tell you, heartless! I suppose you don't regularly stroke your dishwasher and thank it for making your life better too?

ocelot41 · 16/11/2013 12:32

enrique no, I think you are keeping your washing day experience alive by introducing a little variety and (whispers) ...adventure....

Branleuse · 16/11/2013 12:32

I can never get my dh to do pegging properly. He insists on using a horse

JudyJudgypants · 16/11/2013 12:34

How times have changed, in my grandmothers day they did it all indoors, and by hand, it wasn't thought decent to do otherwise.

shallweshop · 16/11/2013 12:35

I've given up pegging for the winter! Will probably start again in the spring.
