Pegging

I think I have finally battered my OH into pegging me. I know we will need loads of lube but does anyone have any other advice? Must admit I'm nervous to find out what her choice of strap on is lol

I need a new peg bucket as mine has gone all brown and rusty.

bebopanddoowop · 16/11/2013 10:54

I have learnt a lot from this thread - I didn't know you're supposed to hang clothes to dry upside down - trousers from the feet end etc. washing days are revolutionised!

uhOhOhDear · 16/11/2013 10:55

With all this talk of washing I must hang mine out. is it too cold today though?

fluffyraggies · 16/11/2013 10:56

I love pegging! Grin

Nothing more relaxing than being out in the sun in the summer, daydreaming for 15 mins while filling a line. At one with nature. Saving electricity.

Wooden pegs for me. And NEVER left out overnight.

DialsMavis · 16/11/2013 10:57

DD (2 at the time) named all of our pegs Julian. The moniker has been taken on by most of the extended family. If a peg breaks DD lets out an anguished "Juuillliannnnnn" and scrabbles around at my feet to collect the pieces- my pegs break frequently as I am a discusting oaf who leaves them on the line. Wink

chipshop · 16/11/2013 10:58

Our garden is always full of birds as DP loves em. So I think pegging outside would be too dangerous, a shame cause I hate doing it indoors.

KatieScarlett2833 · 16/11/2013 10:59

Peg bag????
Pegs are best held in a plastic box for ease of rummage!
When we bought this house it had a fab pulley in the utility room. We were putting in a new kitchen and the builders were asked by me to work around the pulley.
When I went to work, DH arranged for cupboards to go on the wall so the pulley couldn't be pulled down Hmm
I almost LTB there and then.

riskit4abiskit · 16/11/2013 11:00

What is acceptable attire for pegging? I think the postman caught me at it in my pjs once. I was mortified as they were primark and not m and s.

Admiraltea · 16/11/2013 11:04

I always take some pegs on holiday. Naice new ones...
Vair useful. I love pegging on the balcony....anyone can look and admire...I am proud to show off my pegging skills around the world.

MyBoilsAreFab · 16/11/2013 11:08

Well ladies, I am not one to boast, but I have been pegging this morning - INDOORS!

My deviant device of choice is lime green plastic, but nothing so common as strap on, oh no, it is adorned with a large hook with which to attach it as appropriate, and lots of lovely dangly pegs from which to dangle my .. socks. Very satisfying.

KungFuBustle · 16/11/2013 11:11

I never peg. The dog gets excited, grabs something and runs round causing the twirlymagig to spin and stuff to fly off.

I have an indoor clothes airer. I dream of Lakeland heated airers. The stuff of REAL fantasy.

MyPegsAreFab · 16/11/2013 11:12

I have name changed in celebration of this thread ('tis Boils!)

ErrorError · 16/11/2013 11:32

Anyone else really disenchanted by the claims of storm pegs? Who pegs their clothes out in the middle of a storm anyway?! They are brittle and not fit for purpose.

ConfusedPixie · 16/11/2013 11:41

I thought that pegging was when you put as many pegs on somebody as you could without them noticing Shock All my childhood years ruined!

StepAwayFromTheEcclesCakes · 16/11/2013 11:41

I confess I have just pegged.... the washing on my line. I live in the SW and we have two lines one on a pulley system so it hauls up me duvet to hand straight down in one piece, not folded or anything tis a marvel. on a windy day all the towels get a good blow and come in all fresh and lovely I love pegging. I have a bag made by my mum and am anal about how I peg, wooden ones and lots of them shirts and tees by the hem trousers by the waistband all line up nice and even. gives me the rage if anyone else does it as they stick pegs in any old how and fold.... FOLD things over to stick them into... no no no.

ConfusedDotty · 16/11/2013 11:42

ErrorError, I hear what you are saying. You may want to go for the more robust hurricane pegs (Sainsburys approx £2.79, in the laundry ailse).

I find you get a much firmer grip for those extreme outdoor pegging occasions. The only downside to them is you are quite limited in the colour selection.

StepAwayFromTheEcclesCakes · 16/11/2013 11:42

confused that sounds like fun,

SaucyJack · 16/11/2013 11:43

I don't think I've ever pegged in my life Hmm

I just drape the stuff over the line and pray to fuck it doesn't blow away.

Sallyingforth · 16/11/2013 11:43

My grandmother was Peggy. Her favourite lube was gin.

wrigglebum · 16/11/2013 11:45

I really dislike MIL's pegging technique, she overlaps clothes to save on pegs so you get damp corners. Just buy more pegs ffs!

tethersend · 16/11/2013 11:52

Yes, poor pegging practice can lead to touching cloth.

killpeppa It's really best you google it for yourself, you won't see anything horrifying. There are many tumbrs devoted to pegging.

ocelot41 · 16/11/2013 11:58

I want a Futility Room with one of those strap on dolly thingys that you can hoist up to the ceiling so I don't have dripping clothes all over the house when can't do.proper pegging outside. Sigh...you know you've finally hit middle age when you really, REALLY want a Futility Room. I could put all the toys in there that are waiting to be mended/have batteries replaced in them and keep bulk buys in it that I will never get round to using, AND the library books that are a month overdue and everything....(drifts off into little reverie).

EauRouge · 16/11/2013 11:58

I have an indoor drying rack but I have to say I prefer al fresco pegging. Obviously the weather has to be right though.
