AIBU ... to STILL feel positively evangelical about electronic cigarettes? [thread 2]

magimedi · 15/11/2013 22:02

Here we go with thread two.

There is a great deal of information on Thread One about vaping :

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/am_i_being_unreasonable/1865547-to-feel-positively-evangelical-about-electronic-cigarettes?pg=1

I think that many of us have been able to give up smoking thanks to e-cigs & vaping & are all feeling the positive results & want to spread the message.

By cri indeed Magi Grin. I hate the gales we get, they come straight off the sea and blow my pot plants around the garden. But there is something very nautical about them and you certainly feel like you are living on the edge of the world!

MaggieMcGill · 21/11/2013 11:25

Wow! lots of posts since I last checked in. Will take me a while to catch up.

I think I've come to the conclusion that my FT order is just not coming. No fault of theirs, I completely blame myself for giving them my work address along with my home postcode Confused although the local sorting office did say that shouldn't be a problem and they would just deliver it to the main address.

On the up side I discovered yesterday that a new vape shop is opening just around the corner from work. I can see me wasting a few of my lunch hours in there Grin

Plenty I love my new Protank Thanks It has hardly been out my mouth although it may not have been a good idea to leave it in the car last night whilst I was at the gym. The metal tip was bloody freezing. How are you getting on with the clearo, any good?

PlentyOfPubeGardens · 21/11/2013 20:08

Hey Maggie! Grin

Do you have a tracking number for your FT order? If so, try it on 17track, you might be able to find out what's happened to it. Also, do put in a support ticket with FT. The parcel should get returned to them if they can't deliver it and you should get a refund or they'll send it again.

Glad you're enjoying the protank Smile I really like the i-clear, I'm vaping it now. It's quite a hard suck tight draw but it's a lovely flavour, no gurgling and Big Clouds Of Vapour Grin

MaggieMcGill · 22/11/2013 10:11

Phew! Thanks Plenty. I thought I had killed the thread BlushGrin

I do have a tracking number but nothing has shown since it was dispatched to overseas on the 8th Nov. I raised a ticket when I realised about the post code being wrong and I must say I've been very impressed with their customer service. They have been in touch a few times and will resend the parcel if it is sent back to them.

TheStitchWitch · 22/11/2013 10:46

Can someone help me please?
My new clearomizers have just arrived in the post and the first one I tried wasn't producing any vapour, battery is fully charged but when I press the button there's no hissing sound that you normally get Confused

I've tried a different clearomizer and it works fine. Can I fix the one that isn't vaping? I really don't want to throw it away.

MaggieMcGill · 22/11/2013 11:07

Hi Stitch, what kind are they? Have you tried turning the pin/screw thing at the bottom to give a better connection to the battery? Just a half turn or so might help.

TheStitchWitch · 22/11/2013 11:13

Hi Maggie, thanks for replying :)
These are the ones I'm using.
I've not tried turning the screw, wouldn't know what to do tbh, I'm fairly new to all this Grin

waikikamookau · 22/11/2013 11:17

hav eyou pressed it 5 times to turn it on?

TheStitchWitch · 22/11/2013 11:19

Yes, it works fine with another clearomizer, just the first one out of a new pack didn't work.

MaggieMcGill · 22/11/2013 11:22

Me too Smile If you turn it upside down there should be a wee pin thing that makes contact with the battery, try twisting it a little (anticlockwise I think) Also give your liquid a few minutes to absorb into the wick.

magimedi · 22/11/2013 13:18

Maggie that's a wonderful bit of knowledge to have - it's made my new tank work with a certain battery.

Going back to Kungfu's weird tast wewith new clearo I wonder if this is the answer:

I filled & started using a new cleaned clearo last night & it didn't taste quite right (I always use the same liquid).

DH used to smoke a pipe (many years ago) & is fascinated by vaping - he said that when he used to give his pipes a good clean they never tasted quite right until he's smoked a couple of bowlfuls. I wonder if a little coating makes things taste better?

OP posts:
Cantabile · 22/11/2013 13:28

TBH, I find my clearo just adds a taste of plastic to my vaping, so I don't use it.

Does anyone have any thoughts on Intellicigs? They're for sale in our local newsagent, and some people have asked me about them. I saw on the web that you can get liquid for them too, but it looks a bit expensive. I don't actually understand their pricing.

Wonderwhy123 · 22/11/2013 14:09

I've done almost 8 weeks now vaping. Just worked out the figures, I would have spent £222 by now on cigarettes and have spent £118.75 on vaping products means a saving of £103.25 by not smoking.

I've just bought a new battery, 7 cartomisers and have plenty of liquids to keep me going before I need to spend anymore.

I'm not saving for anything in particular but I have managed to save some money each month that I never seemed to manage before.

I found a video on you tube about what to do if they start tasting burnt or bubbling. It said to turn it off and suck hard 3 times. It does seem to work for a short time solution until you can get a new tank.

MaggieMcGill · 22/11/2013 18:55

Well done Wonderwhy I'm nearly 8 weeks too. I can't believe it to be honest. How have you found it?

Magi Glad it worked for you Smile How did you enjoy your bottle of bubbly to celebrate your big 1 year achievement? I hope you didn't celebrate with a fag too Grin

I've been having a clear out and if anyone wants these then please pm me your address. I'm thinking they would be good for the people struggling with the strong throat hit as they can be mixed to your preferred strength. I much prefer my sweet fruity flavours now. All the bottles are nearly full and were bought recently.

From joose juice
18 mg cappuccino
6 mg mocha
18mg caramel tobacco
6mg caramel tobacco

From vaping vision
6mg piña colada

nbee84 · 22/11/2013 19:10

I have been a non smoker for 9 months today Grin I have saved £1,556 on not buying cigarettes. I haven't kept a tally on what I've spent on vaping but I don't think it can be any more than £400 - £500. I haven't noticed the extra thousand in my pocket but my dh suffered ill health late last year, spent 3 months not working (one of the reasons I gave up smoking) and has changed jobs this year and is earning a fair bit less than he used to but we have still managed to keep on top of the bills Smile

I've also just managed to lose 2½ stone and am at target weight. Whenever I have given up smoking before I have always put on weight!

MaggieMcGill · 22/11/2013 19:36

Congratulations nbee Grin and well done on the weight loss (how did you do the half thing). Have you been vaping sweet flavours?

magimedi · 22/11/2013 19:45

nbee - well done!

I have also managed to lose 10lbs in the last few months (could do with doubling that).

Maggie - I really enjoyed my bottle of fizz. Think I'll have to have another one on 31/12/13 to celebrate my first whole calendar year of not smoking! (In addition to any NYE Wine )

Honestly, for me, it's the only time in my long life that I have disproved the myth of 'you can't have your cake and eat it'.

OH YES YOU CAN!

I have reached the stage now that I am surprised when I see people smoking - I want to go up to them & tell them that they can save loads of £££, be healthier & feel guilt free!

OP posts:
Cantabile · 22/11/2013 19:51

Congrats, nbee Cake

Maggie, I'd love to try the caramel tobacco (18mg), if that's OK.

Sadly I have no spares except for Twisted Java and the other one whose name I've forgotten, which no one seems to want. However, they are here and I will happily send them on to anyone who wants an experience.... Grin

Magimedi, Congrats, and on losing weight as well!

nbee84 · 22/11/2013 20:05

Thanks all - I really do feel that I will never smoke a cigarette again.

Maggie - to do the ½ you hold down Alt and press 171 on the number keypad. I've no idea how you do it on an ipad or a keyboard with no number pad Grin

PlentyOfPubeGardens · 22/11/2013 21:04

Evening all!

wonderwhy and nbee well done! Flowers Those are really impressive savings too. I wish I didn't used to smoke cheapy roll-ups. I think I'm due to break even in february if I stop spending now Blush

Cantabile I haven't tried intellicigs but from what I've read they're not bad for cig-alikes. They're still very expensive and have a poor battery life compared with ego batteries though.

If anybody's after a really tiny kit and they're not bothered about it looking like a fag, a lot of people recommend this.

I will shortly have a selection of Dekang 16mg 10ml liquids to pass on. I bought quite a few strange flavours while drunk and I'm trying them all before I decide which ones to keep. Tonight's mystery flavour is SuYan and it's a keeper Smile It's a good solid tobacco flavour and is a nice change from RY4 that I've been vaping all day. If anyone likes tobacco flavours but finds the western blends a bit sweet, it's worth looking at the chinese flavours, although some of them are horrible. I'm going to have to go back and find all these dekang reviews I've been doing or I'll forget which is which. This is my favourite so far.

MaggieMcGill · 22/11/2013 21:14

Cantabile, pm me your address and I'll send it to you but please, for the love of god. DO NOT SEND ME THE TWISTED JAVA!

PlentyOfPubeGardens · 22/11/2013 21:28

Oh go on Maggie you know you want to Grin

I'm sure somebody out there will love it. It's quite a posh one and has some good reviews.

Cantabile · 22/11/2013 21:39

Oh Maggie, you may be the ONE it was made for.... You'll never know until you try. And fair exchange is no robbery!

Thank you, I'll pm you now. I feel a bit bad grabbing all the the spare liquids.

But not that bad Blush

FunnysInLaJardin · 22/11/2013 21:54

well I haven't smoked for ages, at least 7 days and before that only about 2. So I am now a vaper and loving my vision spinner with carto's filled with silver and gold or caramel. Thats me converted after nearly 30 (fucking hell) years addicted to fags

FunnysInLaJardin · 22/11/2013 21:54

btw just counted back and realised that at 42 I started smoking aged 12 Shock
