I think that many of us have been able to give up smoking thanks to e-cigs & vaping & are all feeling the positive results & want to spread the message.

I've been using a mix of PG & VG.

I read somewhere that VG is easier on the throat, so I've ordered some pure VG plus some PG/VG 8mg nicotine.

If either of those is better, then I'll know what the problem is.

Will get some linctus tomorrow.

Using lower level nicotine should definitely help

Higher PG = more throat hit and more flavour but less vapour
Higher VG = more vapour but less throat hit and flavour

Can someone tell me what PH & VG are & how one tells what ones liquid is, please?

Hi magi, PG = propylene glycol, VG = vegetable glycerine. Some liquids have percentages on the bottle, some just say 'mostly PG' or 'mostly VG' and some don't say anything. If there is nothing on the bottle, it's probably mostly PG. What brand of liquid is it? Usually it tells you on the website, even if there's nothing on the bottle.

3 weeks for DP and me. 3 weeks! Not one fag.

I cannot believe it. I am also still on my first lot of socialite tips as well. I spent 40 quid 3 weeks ago on 2 e cigs and 10 tips and I still have a few left (that's for two of us as well). Plus a genius mumsnetter told me you can refill the tips as well with juice.

I am so thrilled. Both of us are very stressed and worried about various things, would have been very easy for us to have a fag, but we haven't because vaping is frankly better. We have also had a night out drinking which is usually fatal. But no, we vaped in pubs giggling because it felt so illicit!

I am so pleased as well because DP was a heavier smoker than me, and his chest was beginning to rattle. He also gets at least one chest infection each winter, so hope that will be avoided this year. I was very worried about his future health so I'm glad this has worked.

I couldn't be more pleased. I love vaping.

Well done everyone else for their success stories and thanks everyone (especially dollytwat who let me try hers in the first place) for their advice.

Also, I was smoking 20 a day, and DP 30. Which was just over 20 quid a day on fags. Which I have calculated at 560 a month on smoking, which is more than our mortgage. Very sobering when we actually discussed that with each other.

Estimate vaping will cost between 20-40 a month.

We are putting 500 quid a month in an account separate from our normal savings and this will be a holiday fund.

Thanks for the info, Plenty. I use ecigwizard, wizard mix liquid which is 70%PG & 30%VG. Am very happy with it.

DP and I always really lied to ourselves about how much we smoked. We used to buy packs of tens to kid ourselves. And we smoked benson and hedges as well so not exactly cheap. And usually bought them from Tesco express so they were more expensive anyway.

So to actually be honest with ourselves and calcuate that it was more than our bloody MORTGAGE was shocking.

We are going to egypt anyway in october so it can go towards that, but DP has always wanted to America, and I have always wanted to go to Nashville and Dollywood (!) So we might go there in summer.

Or replace the windows in the house and replace the driveway if we are sensible.

I can't think of anything to spend my savings on! Except Xmas. So I think I'll just keep saving it and see what happens! If there's a sudden opportunity to do something splendid then I'll be ready

I've done 49 days and avoided 735 fags. Unfortunately I used to smoke roll-ups so have only saved £84 so far and have spent twice that on shiny vape gear. I think now I've stopped buying things, I'll save up to get my teeth done. Smoking has left them in a dreadful state.

I'm curious to know what nicotine strength people are using. I'm on 18mg during the day and 12mg during the evening. I'm thinking of getting some 24mg to see if I can cut down the amount of time I spend vaping.

This evening's mystery FastTech Dekang flavour (I've still got quite a few of these to go ) is LiQun. It's actually not bad as these Chinese tobacco flavours go. Less perfumey than others I have tried (although there's still a hint of something unidentifiable and pungent in the background). It doesn't have as much throat hit as others I have tried though. I prefer China/Chinese tobacco but will probably vape through the bottle at some point. Worth £1.09 I think

the very best thing about vaping at the mo btw is not having to shiver my arse off in the garden having a fag. It is vile out there with force 7 gales again and I am vaping in the kitchen. Lovely!

Can anyone more experienced help me?!
I have a tornado tank (which is ok...) but I used a cinnamon flavour in it and now it still tastes sort of cinnamon. Also need some replacement liquid holder thingies (they are just like a clip on tank, don't have wadding in them)
I've cleaned it, put a new tobacco liquid in a fresh tank thing and still cinnamon taste
Is it worth ordering some new tank things and some different liquid or is it broken?

I was told to use a new tank for each flavour good.

I have a late night problem, DH has just vaped and it tasted burnt. No change other then a newly charged battery. Battery doesn't smell burnt is emitting no odour itself. We got the Vape last Saturday so not been used long. He vapes less then me so he's not been hammering. Flavour is cappuccino for reference.

KungFu it sounds like a problem with the wick or coil. If there is not enough liquid reaching the coil it will burn. Is the cappuccino liquid quite thick or dark? Sometimes that can gunk things up a bit and stop fresh liquid getting through.

What sort of atomiser is it? You might be able to clean it or replace the coil head.
