AIBU ... to STILL feel positively evangelical about electronic cigarettes? [thread 2]

magimedi · 15/11/2013 22:02

Here we go with thread two.

There is a great deal of information on Thread One about vaping :

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/am_i_being_unreasonable/1865547-to-feel-positively-evangelical-about-electronic-cigarettes?pg=1

I think that many of us have been able to give up smoking thanks to e-cigs & vaping & are all feeling the positive results & want to spread the message.

I'm using GS-H2 clearomisers.

Will look on ebay for a couple of 1100 batteries.

Thanks

PlentyOfPubeGardens · 19/01/2014 18:10

Not as such, magi, although my job does involve quite a bit of tutoring, training, group facilitating etc. Thank you, you've really boosted my confidence Smile

notundermyfoof · 20/01/2014 11:16

I have 2 almost full 30 ml bottles of hangsen 11mg liquid in chocolate and hazelnut coffee flavours if anyone would like it? I really don't like those ones but someone might!

MaggieMcGill · 20/01/2014 15:30

Just back from my hols so I have a fair bit of catching up to do.

We flew out from Edinburgh and I was a bit worried about taking my good batteries with me because I'd have cried if I never got them through security. In the end I decided to go with my 2 ego c twists and a normal ego. I put a couple of clearos and some liquid in a plastic bag to go through security and a couple of clearos and liquid in my case in the hold. at security I took the batteries out my bag and into the tray. My tray got pulled aside and the two security people were standing shaking their heads. I thought that was it, my batteries were a goner. I then got asked to go for a full body scan. When I went back for my tray the confusion was the c twists. Seeminly they had never seen them before Hmm Anyway once I explained the difference they seemed quite happy and gave me them back. On the way back from Lanzarote they didn't even blink at the security gate Grin

One thing I noticed is that my clearos seemed to leak on the flight but they were still in the plastic bag so not a problem.

There were also a few shops in the resort selling the ego starter kits although they are more expensive than here.

magimedi · 20/01/2014 15:34

Glad you got all your kit through.

Mine leaked on the first flight I took them on, but I made sure they were only half filled after that & held them upright (mouthpiece down) when taking off & until we'd reached flying height & they were fine all the way. (DH - ex pilot - explained to me what to do for pressure).

Did you have a good hols? Was the weather good?

And, belated, HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!

How does it feel to have a 0 in your age? Grin

MaggieMcGill · 20/01/2014 16:28

Thanks Magi Smile and thanks for the advice beforehand. We all had a great time. The weather was great for the first four days and then it chucked it down until we left which meant we never made it to the volcanoes or the house. We arrived in daylight and flew over some volcanoes on the way in so at least I can say I seen some of them Grin

The champagne on our first night certainly helped to ease the pain of turning 40 Grin

magimedi · 20/01/2014 16:32

40 is chicken age - next year I will hit the big 60!!!!!!!!!!!! That is scary, considering I still feel 18 & get told by DS to: "Act your age, Mum, not your shoe size" Grin

My mum was 60 in December and seemingly it didn't hurt too much Grin I think it helped us having the holiday to look forward to. You need to get planning and do something special. I enjoy parties but not my own so a holiday was perfect, My mum on the other hand had more celebrations than the Queen when it was her birthday weekend Grin

magimedi · 20/01/2014 17:34

You saying your Mum was 60 has made me feel so old - I used to think you woz my friend Grin Grin

magimedi · 20/01/2014 19:47

I have decided I have started something of an addiction, I now own 2 Evods (well one and one on order because I was an idiot and used Banana in a polycarbonate tank and shattered it) a mini vivi nova (amazing) with customised battery and drip tip which looks awesome and a protank mini2 with customised battery (Pyrex for my banana flavour).

My Ce4 has been well and truly relegated.

32flavours · 21/01/2014 10:25

Sorry if this has already been posted on here but if anyone is interested in getting e-liquid cheaper you might want to try bestcigliquid. If you click buy in bulk you can get two 34ml bottles for £16. They don't have loads of flavours but if your default liquid is menthol or tobacco it might save you quite a bit. I haven't tried them yet (being good and letting them steep) so will report back as to how good they are.

themonsteratemyspacebar · 21/01/2014 10:36

Hi,
I was wondering if i could join in?
I have been vaping for a week and a half and have been enjoying it, but i have a few questions people may be able to help me with please?
Firstly with vaping i seem to have become wheezy on the chest, never had that with cigs, is that normal?
Also i seem to fill up my tank thing once every 2/3 days,is that right? I think its 1.6 ml and i used to smoke 20 a day?

magimedi · 21/01/2014 10:42

Welcome - monster.

I sed to smoke 15/20 rull ups a day & now vape 2 x 10ml bottles of juice.

The wheeze from your chest is likely to be the muck coming up now you have stopped smoking. I had a cough & coughed up nasty stuff for a couple of weeks when I stopped the fags.

Also, you need to learn how to puff on your e cig - it's much more of a long steady draw than the quick puff you have on a cig.

OP posts:
magimedi · 21/01/2014 10:42

I used to smoke

OP posts:
Allergictoironing · 21/01/2014 12:16

Welcome Monster.

Wheezing & coughing is absolutely normal for anyone giving up smoking whatever method they use, be it e-cigs, patches, tablets or cold turkey. as the lovely Magi says, it is all the crap that was stuck to the inside of your lungs starting to work it's way loose. This can go on for ages with some people, and one person I know who was giving up cold turkey used it as an excuse to start smoking again Sad - please have patience as it should stop eventually.

How much you vape seems very individual, and doesn't always seem exactly related to how much you used to smoke. I've been given estimates of everything from 30ml a week to 30ml a month to replace my 25-30 a day addiction (currently seems around 20ml a week)

Allergictoironing · 21/01/2014 12:17

And Magi - doesn't it seem really great to be ably to say I USED to smoke! Grin

magimedi · 21/01/2014 13:07

Yes, It's lovely, Allergic. And lovely to stil have a puf fwith a coffee. I call it having your cake & eating it!

20ml does seem to be an average amount, from all I've seen here & heard from other vapers I know in RL.

OP posts:
QueenStromba · 21/01/2014 14:27

themonsteratemyspacebar does it feel like allergic wheezing? Some people are allergic to the PG in most eliquids. It might be worth trying 100% VG liquids to see if that helps - they're harder to find but I know that Liberty Flights do them.

That's not actually particularly cheap 32flavours - Joose Juice do BOGOF on their 30ml bottles so it's £7.25 for 60ml.

BitterOldOtter · 21/01/2014 18:16

Hi there,
I've just bought a starter pack this week & so far so good!
Disappointed (and surprised!) by the availability of shops in London I just bought a VIP photon starter kit from a stand in Croydon but it seems to be ok.

I think it's an evod with VIP chiselled on to it from what i've read… if I decide to keep this up and want to upgrade, does anyone have any recommendations?
Thanks!

PlentyOfPubeGardens · 21/01/2014 19:13

Insanity it sounds like you are suffering from the early stages of shinyitis Grin Have you discovered FastTech yet? How does the evod compare with the mini protank?

themonster, well done Flowers That sounds like a very low amount you're vaping, I get through about twice that in a day!

Well done Bitter Flowers Is this the kit you have?

Queen, was it you who ordered some batteries from fasttech? If so I was wondering how they are faring (and was it bog standard egos you ordered or something 'authentic'?)

I'm a bit Hmm about apollo now, the replacement they've sent won't charge up beyond two bars on the display. I'm wondering how many times I can be bothered to send it back or whether it's just a bad design. This is the battery I have, has anybody had anything of a similar design?

PlentyOfPubeGardens · 21/01/2014 19:16

My mum was 80 this year and had to give up smoking about 5 years ago because of emphysema. She is So Bloody Angry that ecigs weren't about then.

32flavours · 21/01/2014 21:24

Thanks Queen. I was previously paying a fiver for 10mls, so glad this thread exists. Will be checking out Joose juice, are they good quality?

PlentyOfPubeGardens · 21/01/2014 21:35

Joose juice are lovely but they benefit from steeping for a few days.

If you want cheap Hangsen (doesn' need steeping), try premier e-cigs or bargain vapour, or fasttech if you are prepared to wait a while.
