AIBU ... to STILL feel positively evangelical about electronic cigarettes? [thread 2]

magimedi · 15/11/2013 22:02

Here we go with thread two.

There is a great deal of information on Thread One about vaping :

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/am_i_being_unreasonable/1865547-to-feel-positively-evangelical-about-electronic-cigarettes?pg=1

I think that many of us have been able to give up smoking thanks to e-cigs & vaping & are all feeling the positive results & want to spread the message.

I try to put something similar/complimentary in a clearo if I'm changing flavours e.g. peach in a clearo that's just had raspberry in it or cookie in a clearo that's had cheesecake.

I'm not convinced that vanilla will work in a clearo that's had menthol in it.

LucyLasticBand · 11/01/2014 14:58

you can wash out clearos.

Revenger · 11/01/2014 16:12

Thanks all.

I've only got the one clearo so I've topped it up with vanilla because I'm impatient Grin. It's quite nice actually, but does have a note of menthol to it.

Does anyone find that the flavours make them hungry? It's really bizarre being able to taste something sweet without actually chewing on anything. I'm going to buy some boiled sweets as I'm finding it really odd. Maybe I'll get used to it?

I've run out of cigarettes I refuse to call them stinkies so just using the ecig although it's not completely removing my craving for a fag. Don't know if that's habit or not though.

DizzyZebra · 11/01/2014 16:15

I usually just fill it with a new flavour. You get a mix of the two for a few puffs but thats it.

I have a couole of flavours i wont use in certain clearos. Im going to get sone more iclear 16s for them - mainly gingerbread and anything with a minty taste, because they seem to hang around longer than most.

Allergictoironing · 11/01/2014 18:14

Revenger - Vaping Vision do a 5 pack of Boge CE4 clearos (if those fir your battery?) in your choice of colours (pick & mix or all the same, up to you) at a good price, and so far all mine seem decent quality. I've ordered from them twice now, & the longest I had to wait was 2 days, plus post service round here is absolute pants so I reckon that was the reason. First order from them arrived the very next day!

Unless you particularly like the idea of vanilla menthol, I would have a go at cleaning it out. I won't try to describe the process as I'm pretty crap at it myself, but there are loads of vids on YouTube for just about every type or clearomiser.

mrstigs · 11/01/2014 22:03

Hey guys, hope everyone has had a good start to the new year! I've not smoked since November thanks to vaping. Smile However my ce4s are annoying me so just ordered some gs-h2s from ebay, and whilst shopping around I've seen some nice Ergo Q 900mah batteries in Paradise Vape. Will these go together?

mrstigs · 11/01/2014 22:41

Oh and has anyone tried 'chocolate banana' flavour? Nice or nasty? I'm tempted but don't like anything too sickly. (For example I found vanilla custard flavour revolting!)

Cantabile · 11/01/2014 23:56

Mrstigs, no, no chocolate banana here. I have banana somewhere but no chocolate. The banana flavour tastes like the yellow sweets if that helps.

Revenger, some flavours mix OK - some are improved by mixing with something else, ie grapefruit is palatable with caramel mixed in, otherwise it's not! YouTube is great for how to do things, from putting together your first kit to rebuilding a coil. I saw a good one on cleaning a clear recently. I'll see if I can find it for you.

Can anyone recommend a really good clearo? I need a couple, as the two I've got leak. One badly, one not too badly. The one which leaks badly vapes nicely, and the one which doesn't leak badly bubbles and pops and isn't a great vape... I've not had one yet which just works without a lot of farting about first. (Probably because they either come free with a battery, or because I've bought the cheapest I can find.) I'm a bit fed up with it now, and I think getting cheap ones is a false economy, so I'll pay a bit more.

Plenty, are the gs-h2s really so good, they look like CE4s to my ignorant eyes? What's a good place to get them? I'll want one for gingerbread, don't know if that's a juice that tends to crack tanks or not as I use my Ego tank for it.

DizzyZebra · 12/01/2014 00:45

My favourite clearos are the innokin iclears at the minute. I use the iclear 30b and the iclear 16. the iclear 16 looks like a ce4. Ive found the coil lasts much longer though. I'm going to buy some more when the guy gets some in, they're 6 quid each in his shop (Different retailers may price differently though).

The iclear 30b i mainly use at home because its a bit big to be fannying around with outside i think and you do need to be quite precise screwing it together or the liquid floods through and leaks.

QueenStromba · 12/01/2014 10:05

I can also recommend the iclear 16s. They're £2 from Fast Tech in Hong Kong. If you choose the airmail postage option (which is free if you spend about a tenner) then stuff takes about two weeks to turn up.

PlentyOfPubeGardens · 12/01/2014 10:43

I really like gs-h2s. They are way better than CE4s IME and just as cheap. I get mine from this seller - you can usually get them a bit cheaper in the auction sales.

What I like about them is the simplicity of design - the tank is a single piece of plastic so there are fewer places it can potentially leak from and it doesn't mind being upside down. It's completely see-through so if you have a problem you can see what's going wrong. Also, you can re-coil them yourself so they work out incredibly cheap.

If you want something a little more expensive, I also recommend the iclear16. It's a top coil, like the CE4 (GS-H2 is a bottom coil) but it has two coils, so produces a lot more vapour - and uses a lot more liquid.

My favourite clearomiser so far is the Kanger Mini Protank 2. It produces lots of vapour, never gurgles and has a glass tank so you can put any liquid in without worrying. I changed the drip tip for a pyrex one from fasttech because I don't like the feel of metal.

Cantabile · 12/01/2014 13:23

Thank you. I've ordered one from FastTech and one set from that ebay seller linked to. I'm thinking about the pro-tank, but very tempted. I think that when these orders arrive I'll have 6 which will give me ample opportunity to decide if I can use them or not! Then I'll move on to the more expensive pro-tank.

The main thing about all of them is that I'm not keen on the round mouthpiece. The ego-c and its ilk all have flat mouthpieces which is much more natural and comfortable. If I could swap them for flat mouthpieces they'd be much more up my street.

PlentyOfPubeGardens · 12/01/2014 14:27

Cantabile - flat drip tips Smile

There are lots there for CE4 that will also fit the iclear16. The ones labelled 510 will fit the protank 2. If you've only just placed your FT order, it might not be too late to add some in.

magimedi · 12/01/2014 14:48

You may all be interested to listen to Radio 4 on Tuesday (14th) at 9.00am to this:

"Jonathan Freedland is joined by Rod Liddle to compare the rise of electronic cigarettes today with the increasing popularity of snuff in the 17th century.

In 1600s, snuff came to be seen as a more socially acceptable alternative to smoking tobacco.

Nevertheless there were lingering concerns about the health effects of the new product.

As the use of electronic cigarettes takes off today, Jonathan and guests discuss the lessons from history."

I heard a short flyer for it while i nthe car earlier - might well be worth a listen.

Plenty, thank you - what would I do without you? Grin

magi, that sounds interesting, I'll try to listen but dh hates R4 so I'll have to send him away first.

They did a similar thing to Snuz didn't they? Make it hard to get, put a big question mark over it, and it'll never catch on so the tobacco taxes just keep rolling in.....

I'm not really a conspiracy theorist Grin

PlentyOfPubeGardens · 12/01/2014 15:31

That does sound interesting magi. I really hope they've researched properly and don't just come out with the usual scaremongering shite.

EU banned snus outside Sweden, hence Sweden has by far the lowest rate of smoking (13%) in Europe. Since starting to read up on EU and E cigs, I'm afraid I am a bit of a conspiracy theorist Sad Clive Bates is very interesting on snus.

Cantabile · 12/01/2014 17:09

More than 20 years ago, I got a box of snus from Holland, I think, via the internet, and handed them round at the pub one night. People were quite interested but you had to be on the internet to get them, and back then people barely had computers; of those that did most were on very very slow dial-up except a few who had adsl at work (bb didn't really exist).

It really would be a disservice to us all, non smokers too, if the powers-that-be were to follow the same path with ecigs. Depriving your population of the most effective means of guarding its own health? Gotta be some law they'd be breaking?

Cantabile · 14/01/2014 03:20

I take it all back. It's a whole new experience! It's bloody wonderful. Flavour is stronger, more vapour, more throat hit.

The whole vaping thing is brilliant with a clearo that works! My brother has given me one of his to try. I had no idea that it could be like this Grin

DizzyZebra · 14/01/2014 13:30

Just got my second joose juice order, but i have some sort of shitting cold and its ruining my new flavours.

Theyre all quite dark in colour? They arrived clear last time, why?

OH says the softmint and cherry pie tastes fine, I cant taste much of the cherry pie though :( stupid cold.

DizzyZebra · 14/01/2014 14:37

OMG i forgot to tell you lot. I had the BEST argument given to me against e cigs last week. I nearly weed my pants.

Some woman was harping on about how theyre dangerous, and losing the argument badly. When she seemed to resort to making up random facts and informed me that the nicotine in them is different nicotine.... How so you might ask? Apparently, "medical nicotine" is "specially filtered" for NHS NRT.

Tit.

mrstigs · 14/01/2014 16:50

Hello all. Got my GS H2s today. Not sure im keen. I find the drag a bit weak compared to my ce4s. Anyone else find this and got used to it?

Revenger · 14/01/2014 17:06

I've now ordered a double ce5 kit from eBay so hoping that comes tomorrow.

I've started using one of my Joose juice liquids - espresso flavour. It hasn't been steeped long enough so will leave it a bit longer. It's a 70/30 vg/pg mix and I'm definitely not getting that same 'hit' but there is more vapour compared with the hangsen liquids I've been using.

Just wondering what pg/vg mix I should get to get more of a hit? Would 50/50 work better?

I've also got my sister interested and sent her some links too Smile.

QueenStromba · 14/01/2014 17:33

I've gone off the GS-H2s - they are really airy on the draw and I find they get a burnt taste quite easily. I've decided that iclears are the way forward.

I vape about 50:50 and find it a good compromise between vapour and throat hit.

mrstigs · 14/01/2014 18:03

Well i have 5 of the buggers to get though now. Grin
Do you have a link for the iclears? Do they fit on a regular battery?

QueenStromba · 14/01/2014 18:12

These are about a third of the price you'd pay from a website in the UK but will take a couple of weeks to turn up.
