AIBU ... to STILL feel positively evangelical about electronic cigarettes? [thread 2]

magimedi · 15/11/2013 22:02

Here we go with thread two.

There is a great deal of information on Thread One about vaping :

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/am_i_being_unreasonable/1865547-to-feel-positively-evangelical-about-electronic-cigarettes?pg=1

I think that many of us have been able to give up smoking thanks to e-cigs & vaping & are all feeling the positive results & want to spread the message.

Goodasitgets, I've just ordered the Xmas Hamper from that site; fingers crossed!

That's another nice thing about vaping, I have more cash so I can play with eliquids and equipment Grin

My brother has just bought this ghastly thing - it's a Shisha K100+. It's enormous, unwieldy, looks and feels like doggy-doos. Comes in a nice case though. Took him ages to work out how to get it to work too (but that was at least partly because he wouldn't read the instructions - won't admit he needs glasses - or even look it up on youtube. Is that a man-thing?). I looked it up for him..... Twit that he is.

Cantabile · 20/12/2013 23:19

Plenty, I want a lanyard and am hoping someone will give me one for Christmas. I got my brother and my friend nice stands for their ecigs (and ones for myself while I was at it!).

QueenStromba · 21/12/2013 00:53

I've just bought over a litre of 7.2% from here for just over a hundred quid. This will do me for several years at my current rate of vaping. The new EU regs are scaring the fuck out of me so I want to be able to not worry about it.

QueenStromba · 21/12/2013 06:49

I've gotten very worried about the whole EU thing so have just bought a litre of 7.2% from bargain vapour. Bugger - I've just done the calculations on that and it's actually about six years worth! You know where to come for your nicotine once the EU passes their silly laws!

littlemisssarcastic · 21/12/2013 08:15

Wow QueenStromba. Will it last that long? Doesn't the juice have a use by date?

I'm also worried about the future wrt vaping but not sure what to do about it.
Maybe bulk buying is the answer. Wouldn't we need enough batteries, clearomisers to last 6 years too? That would amount to a tidy stash of vaping equipment. Grin

PlentyOfPubeGardens · 21/12/2013 12:19

I'm tempted to stock up too, queen. It should last if it's kept in the freezer.

littlemiss the advice I've seen is to get a mechanical mod (takes normal batteries) and a rebuildable atomiser and learn how to coil. Probably a good move to make friends with someone who has a metal lathe and knows how to use it, too Xmas Wink

PlentyOfPubeGardens · 21/12/2013 12:22

or just buy one of these Xmas Grin

or switch to the Xmas GrinXmas Grin

goodasitgets · 21/12/2013 12:42

Smoked normally this morning. Stuck in traffic and I've been vaping so that's at least 4 cigarettes I've not had
Am heading to vape shop (in town, this was a stupid idea!)

QueenStromba · 21/12/2013 12:46

Yeah, it's going to live in the freezer. Silly me buying 6 years worth without realising! It's probably going to be longer than that too since I'll probably end up vaping lower and lower concentrations. I've probably bought a life time supply (not bad for 150 euro)!

I'm assuming that flavourings will be fine because they don't have nicotine in them? Flavour Art etc will just have to stop branding them as e liquid flavourings. PG and VG are also easily

I'm also guessing that atomisers/clearos won't be covered by the new law/will make it past customs because they won't know what they are? I've got a gagillion atomisers so can always rebuild them if the worst comes to the worst - I probably have to worry more about batteries wearing out and the plastic bits from the clearos getting cracked.

LucyLasticKnickers · 21/12/2013 12:48

i cant believe they will stop?!
there seem to be loads and loads of providers.

DoYouLikeMyBaubles · 21/12/2013 13:05

I'm lucky I don't have to buy online. There's a fabulous vape shop up the road. There's sooo much to look at and buy, the staff are really knowledgeable and it's a really relaxed atmosphere. Went in today and they had a ton of flavours, and you could even make your own there and then.

Then there's the other one further away that's decided to make their shop into a more clinic sort of place, no-one goes in.

PlentyOfPubeGardens · 21/12/2013 13:09

atomisers and clearos are covered by the regulation but you're right, customs will have a hard time knowing what they are.

Batteries are not really a problem, you just won't be able to get them neatly packaged into an ego.

PlentyOfPubeGardens · 21/12/2013 13:12

SEE THIS EU, LOOK AND LEARN Xmas Angry

Whereabouts are you Baubles? I still can't understand why London has so few vape shops compared to up north.

DoYouLikeMyBaubles · 21/12/2013 13:17

It's very intimidating, it's like going into one of those plastic surgery places. All white and clinical. Bleurgh. Wheras the others are like little communities, pop in for a chat and a 'vape' and see what wares they have.

I'm near to Wigan, there's at least 6 in the area.

The EU are going to handle this badly I think. I really understand how these things have to be tested to safeguard us and make sure we're safe, but it's not like we're all suddenly smoking crack.

QueenStromba · 21/12/2013 13:17

It's mad isn't it Plenty? Proportionately there should be way more than up North but we've got bugger all.

goodasitgets · 21/12/2013 13:22

I got butterscotch, choc praline, DY6, spiced mandarin, candyfloss and a new ego battery and plug Smile

PlentyOfPubeGardens · 21/12/2013 13:27

sounds yummy, goodasitgets.

Handy hint for the day - if vaping on a passthrough battery while wearing it on a lanyard, make sure you either detach it from your neck or from the charging lead before attempting to stand up Grin

goodasitgets · 21/12/2013 13:35

The DY6 was yummy, looking forward to getting home to vape

DoYouLikeMyBaubles · 21/12/2013 14:10

I'm loving my new grape and watermelon.

I unwittingly made a 'cherry tune' flavour yesterday. Accidentally put cherry in the tank I reserve for menthol, was lovely!

goodasitgets · 21/12/2013 14:15

Oops it's DY4 I got!

Total cigs today - 7. Would have usually be at least double that

PlentyOfPubeGardens · 21/12/2013 18:31

I just saw someone vaping on the bus! At first I was Xmas Shock then I was Xmas Grin Nobody else seemed to be giving a shit. It's the first person I've seen round here vaping at all.

I'm assuming DY4 is an RY4 type mix. I'd say RY4, with a splosh of RY6 sometimes, is the closest I've found to an all day vape. Very well done on halving the cigs Flowers

PlentyOfPubeGardens · 21/12/2013 18:36

Ooh Baubles, I have both those flavours from Joose Juice. I think I will mix some of that in a few days (it's just arrived and is still steeping). Is the cherry quite flavourful? I've tried their blackcurrent and it tastes like very weak ribena.

Cantabile · 21/12/2013 20:03

Wow, my Joose Juice flavours came today! That was quick.

The first I tried was Pecan. It smelt so horrid that I didn't even try it, just washed the tank out.

I have just tried Maple Yrup. This is better but didn't vape that well. I added a couple of drops of the Apple Concentrate; then there was more flavour and more vapour.

I haven't tried the Gingerbread yet.

Plenty, I haven't steeped these at all, obviously. Are they likely to improve with steeping (not sure what's meant to happen when you steep)? If so, I'll leave the Gingerbread for a couple of weeks.

PlentyOfPubeGardens · 21/12/2013 20:52

Yes steep them. They improve massively after a week or so. Steeping is basically allowing the flavours to infuse in the PG/VG.

I have found nut flavours generally not great on their own but nice added to coffee flavours or vanilla.

I absolutely love JJ gingerbread. I never thought I had a sweet tooth until I tried that. If you like gingerbread, you'll like it Xmas Smile

littlemisssarcastic · 21/12/2013 21:17

Probably a silly question, but can anyone tell me exactly how I steep my juices?
A step by step process would be much appreciated. Grin
