AIBU ... to STILL feel positively evangelical about electronic cigarettes? [thread 2]

magimedi · 15/11/2013 22:02

Here we go with thread two.

There is a great deal of information on Thread One about vaping :

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/am_i_being_unreasonable/1865547-to-feel-positively-evangelical-about-electronic-cigarettes?pg=1

I think that many of us have been able to give up smoking thanks to e-cigs & vaping & are all feeling the positive results & want to spread the message.

I found menthol to be great with a cold. It really cleared my air passages!

MaggieMcGill · 01/12/2013 09:49

Hahaha! Cantabile That's nasty! Grin

PlentyOfPubeGardens · 01/12/2013 11:40

The Twisted Java has found a home? Fucking hell! ShockEnvyGrin

Honest Guv! She said she liked it!

Cantabile · 01/12/2013 12:36

Sooty, I think I'll order some menthol as the season for colds is upon us.

PlentyOfPubeGardens · 02/12/2013 18:19

Evening all, how's everyone getting on?

I've now done 2 months without smoking! I have avoided 915 fags and have saved £104.80 not saying how much I have spent though Go me! Grin

The future of ecigs in Europe is being discussed tomorrow so if you haven't already, please visit this thread on the petitions board and help us make lots of noise Flowers

magimedi · 02/12/2013 19:21

Am still a happy bunny - nearly 14 months without a fag.

I love vaping.

And I have signed every petition I can find.

And written to my MP.

I do remember reading, a couple of months ago, that there was some reserve in the UK government about outlawing it as there are now a significant number of jobs tied up in the industry.

OP posts:
PlentyOfPubeGardens · 02/12/2013 20:02

Ah brilliant magi, well done.

Yes lots of jobs would go. I don't understand why I keep reading things about big tobacco companies pushing ecigs when, if you look around the market, it's clearly mostly small businesses.

magimedi · 02/12/2013 22:15

I don't think the big boys are pushing them so much as buying into them for the future. One of the biggies (British American Tobacco, I think?) bought Sky cigs a month or so ago. I am quite sure they are well ready for the e cig revolution.

Letters to MP, MEP etc went on Saturday; petitions signed.

Fingers crossed today.

LucyLasticKnickers · 03/12/2013 09:20

dont know exact date unfortuantley.

PlentyOfPubeGardens · 03/12/2013 09:34

Yay Lucy, well done! Flowers Yes, you are a non-smoker Smile

Nearly 17,000 signatures so far and still growing rapidly.

In other news, I've just had a letter inviting me to a stop smoking clinic at my Dr's surgery. I'm looking forward to replying to this Smile

magimedi · 03/12/2013 09:52

Lucy - you certainly ar a non smoker.

Plenty - I wonder what your Dr's take is on ecigs??

OP posts:
LucyLasticKnickers · 03/12/2013 10:40

oh that is exciting plenty, about the doctors letter. i was thinking the same about my dentist's questionnaire.

LucyLasticKnickers · 03/12/2013 10:40

Also, I wonder if insurance companies need to know?>?

magimedi · 03/12/2013 12:13

I think you have to have been a non smoker for a minimum of a year for insurance companies to recognise it.

Maggie, you have saved my grapefruit! The caramel makes it very palatable; I was vaping it most of the day yesterday, even though I didn't have to!

MaggieMcGill · 04/12/2013 21:28

Grin at saving your grapefruit. I've heard of saving someone's bacon before but not grapefruit. I'm glad you have found some use for it.

My new shop opened. It's doing 10ml bottles for £4.95 or 3 for £11.95. I bought a red bull, strawberry and apple pie. I tried the red bull in the shop but not too keen on it now. They only sell 0, 18 and 24mg so I bought the 18 which is stronger than i've been using but from what I've tried so far I wouldn't say it is any better than the joose juice which is much cheaper. They opened on Satarday and Seeminly had a very good day, lots of customers.

QueenStromba · 07/12/2013 21:07

Gah! The lightbulbs I ordered from FT that shipped on the 25th are here but the vaping supplies that shipped on the 8th aren't.

PlentyOfPubeGardens · 08/12/2013 08:13

You ordered lightbulbs? I didn't think anyone actually ordered those Grin Are they any good?

Hope your vaping gear arrives soon.

QueenStromba · 08/12/2013 11:21

Yeah, nice bright warm white 3W LEDs for less than £2 each - bargainous! We have eleventy million spotlights in the flat that were just eating energy.

magimedi · 08/12/2013 11:33

For a moment I thought 'lightbulbs' was a nickname for some new & advanced vaping equipment.

Shouldn't have got up before my brain did. Grin

I have just ordered 2 of these - www.totallywicked-eliquid.co.uk/products/tornado-ego-c/kits/tornado-ego-c-mega-twist-compact-kit-2-product.html

One for me and one for DH for xmas.

Anyone used them before? What do you think of them?

Cantabile · 08/12/2013 13:02

Lambinside, I got a VV Tornado C. It's great. The tank is quite small so you get through it quickly - which is great when you're trying new flavours. It's big. Shocked me when I first opened it! Also, I wasn't enormously happy about using a button but within a day I was used to it. The manuals use less battery so you don't have to charge them so often as automatics. I quickly got a spare battery though!

I then got this www.totallywicked-eliquid.co.uk/products/starter-kits/starter-kits-products/tornado-t-blister-kit-product.html which has become my favourite.

They all work better if you clean them every few days - preferably every day.

I carry all my bits around - including a couple of bottles of liquid - in a ds case.

Good luck with it.

Cantabile · 08/12/2013 13:06

I have a question! When it comes to dry burning, should you do it with the ecigs I've got (specified above) or not?

For some reason I tried it the other day, but I think I may have melted something! Everything tastes a bit, funny?, now Sad
