AIBU ... to STILL feel positively evangelical about electronic cigarettes? [thread 2]

magimedi · 15/11/2013 22:02

Here we go with thread two.

There is a great deal of information on Thread One about vaping :

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/am_i_being_unreasonable/1865547-to-feel-positively-evangelical-about-electronic-cigarettes?pg=1

I think that many of us have been able to give up smoking thanks to e-cigs & vaping & are all feeling the positive results & want to spread the message.

I've asked DP for this as my Christmas present.

PlentyOfPubeGardens · 08/12/2013 18:46

Hi Cantabile, I don't know about the Tornado but I have had similar issues with a burnt taste remaining after dry burning a bottom coil clearo. It might be that you haven't dry burnt enough, so you have burnt material still on the coil. I now do it until I can't smell any of the burnt smell at all - several more pulses than to make the coil glow evenly. The other thing I do is to soak the coil in vodka after burning. This gets rid of any lingering smell. I don't know if you can do this with your system though.

I found this maintenance guide ... any use?

PlentyOfPubeGardens · 08/12/2013 18:50

I want one of those Queen Grin I'm looking at this one - £10 more expensive but a bit less of a lottery than FT. Are you hoping to have yours by Christmas?

QueenStromba · 08/12/2013 20:35

Not the end of the world if it's a bit late.

PlentyOfPubeGardens · 08/12/2013 20:50

I wonder if FT has a january sale? Grin

I've been a bit put off ordering because there seem to be huge questions over shipping batteries and liquids. My latest order is all odds n sods - cases, atomisers etc. but I'd buy half the site if I could be reasonably sure of it getting here.

QueenStromba · 08/12/2013 22:42

They reckon that most of the batteries are getting through now and that Singapore post are happy to take liquids so they're routing anything with liquids through them.

QueenStromba · 09/12/2013 16:02

Sweet - my itaste is ordered. Decided to go for the iclear 30 rather than the 16s since I already have a couple of them and about a million other clearos.

I have:
3 Vivi Novas
3 GS-H5s
11 GS-H2s
2 iclear 16's with two more on order
Loads of CE4s that came in the paradise vape blister packs that I've long given up on because they're rubbish.

In my defence, I do have a load of different flavours and I got half of the GS-H2s and the GS-H5s really cheap from ebay. I highly recommend this seller - I won the GS-H5s on Saturday and they came today and my previous order came next day despite them probably making a quite a loss.

My fasttech order from nearly a month ago has turned up - I can confirm that the GS-H2 atomisers that I linked to before do work. The tracked airmail shipping option is definitely the way to go though since that was about twice as fast!

PlentyOfPubeGardens · 09/12/2013 18:14

Haha I thought I was bad Grin

Yes I've had things off that seller before and would also recommend.

How are you getting on with the GS-H5s? I've managed to crack two of mine. I don't think it's great design having the threads on the plastic - I think I screwed them together too tight. I'll try to be a bit gentler on the last surviving one. I also have some GS-H5Cs on order which should look a bit less clunky on an ego.

What's the vivi nova like? Do I want one? I know I want a davide mini for xmas.

Yay for vape mail!

QueenStromba · 09/12/2013 18:37

At least I'm sorted for a while if the EU outlaws them! Does anyone know how the vote went?

The GS-H5s only came today and I can't decide what to put in them so they haven't been used yet - I fear you might be right about the plastic threads though.

I really like the vivi novas I bought from Liberty Flights. The one I bought from ebay seems to be a fake and the atomizers from ebay seemed to be fake too although they did work with my CE4s. I bought an atomizer from fasttech and that doesn't seem to work with my liberty flights ones either. I've found the LF ones great for lack of burnt taste and good for amount of vapour too.

If it wasn't for the fact that the LF atomisers are 2 quid each and last a week at my vaping rate then i'd probably stick with them.

QueenStromba · 09/12/2013 18:45

Hmm. Just tried a GS-H5 and while the flavour etc is great, it makes a horrible whistling noise.

FunnysInLaJardin · 10/12/2013 11:09

just marking my place. This seems to drop off my TIO on a regular basis. BTW my vision rebuildable clearo seems to have sprung a leak. Anyone know how to solve this?

MaggieMcGill · 10/12/2013 13:08

Holy Moly! Queen that's an impressive list Grin I've yet to get through a whole clearo. I must be doing something wrong with mine. I've been using the same 3 since I pretty much started 2 months ago. I'm expecting my new FT order to arrive this week. A new battery and some coil heads for my protank (which I love) Smile

QueenStromba · 10/12/2013 17:03

Vaping has turned into a bit of a hobby for me :)

I like to have loads of different flavours on the go so I do need quite a few clearos - I find if I vape too much of the same flavour I don't really taste it anymore. I did just have the vivi novas and the crappy CE4s for a while until people on here started recommending the GS-H2s and the iclear 16s. After buying a gazillion GSs I've decided that I much prefer the iclears - so much more vapour and less burnt taste than the GSs and the coils seem to be lasting much longer than the vivi novas. I'm hoping my itaste (which shipped today - woo!) will sort out the burnt taste and produce more vapour from the GSs since I love the design - lack of liquid dripping into your mouth and the ability to change the coil with a full tank are definite plusses.

I've changed my mind on the vivi nova since yesterday - they're not worth it at all. I did a dry burn on a coil that hadn't been cleaned before and it's producing a rubbish amount of vapour.

Jux · 10/12/2013 17:30

Has anyone got a promo code for TECC? I am trying to replace dh's old batteries and they seem to be the only place that do them - 5 years old, I'm surprised there are any at all out there!

Also, anyone know the result of the EU vote?

QueenStromba · 10/12/2013 17:49

Would it not be better to go for some newer batteries Jux?

Jux · 10/12/2013 17:57

Probably, but dh resists change to the nth degree. The fact that these will have TECC's logo on green on them and are a slightly different colour will be something he won't be enormously happy about Hmm. He's a bit of a nutter...... Grin

PlentyOfPubeGardens · 10/12/2013 18:41

If it wasn't for the fact that the LF atomisers are 2 quid each and last a week at my vaping rate then i'd probably stick with them.

£2 a WEEK Shock Grin (how much did you used to spend on smoking?) I know what you mean though, I'm trying to get to the point where the only things I have to buy are kanthal wire and liquid, and as soon as I can make space I'll be mixing my own liquid, for cost reasons as much as anything.

I like my iclear16, it's a lovely vape and as you say, Queen, loads of vapour, but it's gone a bit leaky and I need to sort it out. Not so keen on how fast it uses up liquid though and it's not rebuildable (see above for scroogy tendencies).

DH still loves his protank, I have a quick suck on it sometimes and I still don't like the drip tip so am very happy to have passed it on.

PlentyOfPubeGardens · 10/12/2013 18:45

Jux, if I found batteries that lasted 5 years I'd get the same ones again too! Do you have a link?

Not sure where the EU is up to, I'll go and have a read this evening. The problem is it isn't a vote we're waiting on, it's the trilogue talks which are carried out in secret and don't seem to be very democratic at all.

PlentyOfPubeGardens · 10/12/2013 18:53

I must be doing something wrong with mine.

Maggie it sounds like you're doing something right!

I dropped my ecig earlier and my clearo (gs-h2) now has two visible cracks in it. It also has a grotty fake evod coil which doesn't quite fit properly so the clearo screws together a bit wonky at the bottom. In spite of this, it's not leaking and is vaping fine Confused

QueenStromba · 10/12/2013 19:04

I was spending basically no money on smoking because I've still got half a kilo of tobacco that I bought when I was on holiday in Ibiza. But you're right, £2 a week on atomizers plus about 3 quid on liquid isn't much really. The iclear 16s are still a lot better though.

MaggieMcGill · 10/12/2013 19:44

Hehe! I really wish I could show you all my drawer Blush I think I have enough liquid to do me for the whole of next year. Why can't we post pics on here? Queen I get that too, not being able to taste things. It drives me nuts.

MaggieMcGill · 10/12/2013 19:46

Just out of interest, does it have an expiry date?

PlentyOfPubeGardens · 10/12/2013 20:39

As luck would have it, there's a vaping thread in chat at the moment where we could post pics.

From what I have read, liquid is good for a couple of years although the nic content will probably drop a bit. Best kept in a dark cool place.

Jux · 10/12/2013 21:42

Plenty, he doesn't use it that much! In fact really only since the smoking ban, and then only because he's a guitarist so can't smoke when he's working (pubs, parties etc). The one he's got is this one: www.theelectroniccigarette.co.uk/products/electronic-cigarette-accessories/super-products.html. His came from Totally Wicked 5 or so years ago, so has little devils on, which he likes too (so do I!).

PlentyOfPubeGardens · 12/12/2013 21:20

oh right, looks a bit small for me Grin
