btw, my OH just shook his head and buggered off into the kitchen after I squealed in delight that this update popped in. I'm not sure if that's distain at me or the fact that this is what our Friday's have become Blush

You know, I really feel for the bride. First, she has gone through the trouble of sending aaaallll these people lovely STD cards, so they have something lovely to put on the fridge. Also, anyone knows that anticipatory pleasure is the best pleasure. Then, right at the point where people would have to start worrying about outfits and fitting all their usual weekend activities around the wedding, TADAA, no invite, so a whole weekend to themselves and no costs! It's the kind thing to do really.

Apparently, Tidy is still disappointed not to see her close friend on her wedding, so she gets offered the behind the scenes-option. Everyone knows that at each event, everyone is fighting to get the backstage passes! And she refuses! Shock At least 2-3 times! Shock Shock Shock Backstage passes to the event of the year!

Thank you, thank you, thank you to the people who taught me how to book mark on this thread. I have avoided place marking so far, and have had to sift through literally thousands of messages to get an update. And Tidy is now nicely highlighted in a pleasant sage green too. Hurrah!

diddl, IIRC back on the first thread it was explained that GZ couldn't possibly ask any of the invited guest as that would spoil the surprise for them...

That's how I remember it too Pachacuti.

I was supposed to be a surprise for the other guests who did get an invite.

It was this that made my mouth drop open in disbelief in the first place.

but how will they know to come in their godzilla outfits if not told of the theme???Is the theme the surprise??
There were a lot of biblical films made in the 50s, maybe Gluezilla may arrive on a donkey dressed in blue..... and expect gold for her gifts

Don't know if anyone has asked this before. (difficult to remember with this many posts!), but is it possible that Tidy wasn't the first person who was asked and said no? Perhaps Gluezilla has been steadily working her way through The Twenty?

That is seeming likely now. The more I think about this the more I'm thinking that those Save-the-Dates but no invites were not just the enthusiastic effusions of a bride who had not yet finalized her guest list but sent deliberately as her back-up list plan for a team of decorators, photographers, caterers etc. Hence the "why does noone want to help me?". Tidy probably isn't the first and only person who has een asked. Each of the twenty, I'm sure, will be found to have some special skill that the b2b thought might be useful because she is a user.

Who asks their guests to decorate in the first place???? Let alone non-guests of course.
Surely decorating the venue should be in the fucking budget to start with?

Failing that she needs to do it herself. I'm amazed she hasn't guilt tripped her sister into doing it.

Car-crash "friends" like that are unfortunately the ones who are so insensitive, they hang around like a bad smell.

What's the betting when Mrs Gluezilla gets back from her Glue-moon she will contact the "unlucky 20" and suggest they all go out for a girly meal (they're paying for her of course) so she can show them photos of the wedding they all missed.

Well, surely they will be gagging to find out what the hall looked like and what Glue's dress and makeup were like and .... Snork.
