To be annoyed with this dog poo lady

Saw a woman with a huge dog today, without warning dog stopped and did a massive steaming turd on the pavement in busy village centre. She scooped it up with a bag and threw it away, but wasnt very thorough and left a thick skid mark that anyone could step in or wheel pushchair through...this always happens to me!)

I am not really sure what she should have done but I was still annoyed. Maybe she could have used another bag to try and scrape up the skid more thoroughly, or poured water on it, or not let her dog poo there (not a dog owner, not sure how you do this, I confess)

Erm id just think "great she cleaned it up"
Not going into a convo about bowel movement solidity but i dont carry a bottle of water around either to clean up marks.ive never seen anyone do that?maybe we should invent a little mop thing and dragons den it?yeah it is minging but she picked it up and thats awful enough an experience for the owner lol

HellsAngel81 · 27/06/2013 04:39

Yes YABU. Would have been a whole lot worse if she had't picked up at all! Doggy skidmarks are unavoidable i'm afraid, and very hard to scrape up with poop bags (believe me, I've tried :-D).

Morgause · 27/06/2013 05:02

I wish dog owners would train their dogs to do it at home.

Guide dogs do this so it can't be that hard.

AdoraBell · 27/06/2013 05:05

YABU

Where was the water that she could have poured over it?

Was the paviment a completely flat surface? If it had any ripples, ridges or dips it would be imposible to scrape it all up, you've need a fine instrument to Get into all the gaps. Then someone would complain about you blocking the paviment.

She picked it up, lot's of people don't.

Justforlaughs · 27/06/2013 05:08

YABU to expect her to clean up a skid mark, YANBU to expect her to train her dog to poo at home, as Morgause said!

toffeelolly · 27/06/2013 05:30

She picked it up , lot's do not.

Saidar · 27/06/2013 06:46

"Guide dogs do this so it can't be that hard."

Isn't guide dog training really hard? I thought those dogs were hand picked because of their ability to learn. My dog could officially be classed as an idiot though, even with his training.

If I'm walking my dog in an urban area I always think it's nice to have a squirty bottle with water and some anti bac in my bag though. I hate poop on pavements. I do a good scrape and a few squirts. I will not be on bended knee with a brush scrubbing the pavement though Grin

Fakebook · 27/06/2013 07:33

They should carry A pocket sized bottle of disinfectant to spray away the remainder. If you're going to do something, it should be done properly, not half arsed.

HoneyDragon · 27/06/2013 07:39

All assistance dogs, like any dogs can be trained to go on command, but like any animal, sometimes when they've got to go they've got to go.

Then, if no nice passer by is around [like me] go help offer to pick it up, than it has to get left.

NewAtThisMalarky · 27/06/2013 07:49

Surely the only thing pouring water on it will achieve is to spread it over a bigger area? That's assuming that it does anything at all.

OOAOML · 27/06/2013 07:54

Do Guide dogs not get fed a particular diet that gives them firmer poos?

I wish dog owners would take their dogs to the edge of the pavement and then pick up - skid marks in the middle of the pavement are not that obvious until you are about to stand on them (or have stood on them).

And it may be am 'awful' experience for the owner, but that's part of the deal when you choose to get a dog. I haven't chosen to have a dog, and scraping shite off shoes is a pretty awful experience as well.

ageofgrandillusion · 27/06/2013 07:57

YABU? She did her bit, rain will probably wash the rest away in time. As for the person saying train them to do it at home, it doesn't work like that. Dogs don't shit on command.

LessMissAbs · 27/06/2013 07:59

YABU a bit, but it is annoying too. Is it not possible to train dogs to poo at the side or something? One if my horses always makes a point of stopping to poo off the track and does all his poos in the stable in the same place so he doesn't lie on them. Don't dogs do this ever?

pigletmania · 27/06/2013 08:20

Yabvu, wher do you think she could get the water from Hmm. At least she picked it up, nothing much she can do with skid marks on pavements

HoneyDragon · 27/06/2013 08:25

Well PigletJohn, if I am ever unfortunate enough to be in this situation as shall drop my jeans and piss on the skids. Sorted. Grin

imnotmymum · 27/06/2013 08:29

I am having visions now when walking my dog. Poo bags-check, Water for rinsing-check, disinfectant-check, Beware wet surface sign-check, I might need a hi-vis jacket as well.

My horse shits in the same corner. And then lies on it. I think she is creating a warm pillow.

My dog prefers to poo out of sight.

littlewhitebag · 27/06/2013 08:43

I am going to have to take an old lady trolley for all the equipment when dog walking if i need water, disinfectant and wipes to add to poo bags, treats, whistle, keys, phone, tissues. It would be akin to a baby changing bag but for a dog.
If i walk my dog in town i try to start the walk somewhere with grass as it is easier to clean up but sometimes you are caught short. Just be glad the lady picked it up at all.

MatersMate · 27/06/2013 08:44

Op YANBU.

If dog owners were responsible they would carry something to remove skids/runny poo.

It is filthy and minging. If you are going to gave a dog that shits in public places then it is your responsibility to clean up after your dog - properly.

MatersMate · 27/06/2013 11:06

you would need a Bucket though!

YANBU, they should clean it all up properly, not do a half arsed job.
