Dh and Nacho burgers

AnAirOfHope · 12/06/2013 20:13

Hi

Dh has worked overtime today 8am till 7pm. He picked ds up on way home from grandparents and called me to say ds had tea up there what was I doing for tea?

I had dd all.day and we are out of bread and milk so I told him to go to the shop and get what he wanted for tea, anything except pizza. All I have had to eat today is two sandwiches, im so hungry I want food.

Dh has come back with a pack of four nacho burgers. We have nothing else as the bread one loaf is for pack lunch and breakfast and lunches so I have one nacho burger for tea.

AIBU to be upset and to give my burger to dd and go to bed in a huff with dh?

(dh also got one loaf and a 2pt of milk as well as the pack of nacho burgers)

He got what he wanted, just like you told him to!
YABU. He may have had a long tiring day and not want to think about anything more complicated for dinner

Mintyy · 12/06/2013 20:22

Why didn't you ask him to get what you wanted?

Is your dd ill, btw?

catgirl1976 · 12/06/2013 20:23

What is a nacho burger?

IneedAsockamnesty · 12/06/2013 20:24

Unless a nacho burger is a type of pizza he did exactly what you asked him to.

MissStrawberry · 12/06/2013 20:24

I am Confused by your post. What is the problem?

No, do not go to bed in a huff. You aren't three.

FussandMess · 12/06/2013 20:28

I don't understand:

  1. Why you are hungry and haven't eaten properly today

  2. Why you didn't go to the shops instead of running out of food

  3. Why you are expecting your husband to wait on you hand and foot, while you sit indoors

You sound about 4 years old.

AnAirOfHope · 12/06/2013 20:28

He was ment to get tea for two adults and a 1yo, one pack of four burgers is not enough to feed all of us!

squeakytoy · 12/06/2013 20:30

do you live a long way from shops?

UniS · 12/06/2013 20:30

I'd cook 4 burgers for 2 adults and a 7 year old. YABU

He got bread as well, and milk, you didn't give him any specific request, just said to get what HE wanted to eat.

AnAirOfHope · 12/06/2013 20:31

Is your DD ill?

FussandMess · 12/06/2013 20:32

Four burgers is lame but surely you must have chips, potatoes, waffles etc hiding in the freezer?

And everyone has a can of beans in the cupboard somewhere surely?

wannabedomesticgoddess · 12/06/2013 20:33

YANBU. 4 crappy burgers does not a dinner make.

MelanieCheeks · 12/06/2013 20:33

Do you REALLy have nothing else in the house you could eat - cheese and crackers, fruit, yoghurts, eggs?

thestringcheesemassacre · 12/06/2013 20:33

I would do 4 burgers for 3 of us.
You should have been more specific.

MortifiedAdams · 12/06/2013 20:35

My DH would eat that for his tea, however I wouldnt. Which is why when he asks if he needs to etanything from the shop id say "can I have a pizza/salad stuff/pasta dish/salmon fillet" he isnt a mind reader and you said anything except pizzas.

pregnantpause · 12/06/2013 20:37

But four burgers is plenty. the packaging probably states serves four. A burger each. I'm not sure why you can't use bread to put the burger in either. That would be 6 slice from the loaf, how many sandwiches do you use for packed lunch? One and a half slices is adequate for each of you surely?

LeGavrOrf · 12/06/2013 20:38

Christ he must be knackered. Don't you get that feeling after a really long day at work that just going into a shop and picking things up and paying for them is the absolute limit, to actually have to think and choose something would be too much?

I probably would have done the same. Actually I have, bloody knackered and go in the shop, look around with a complete lack of inspiration and buy a pint of milk and some mini Baby bels.

I would just have toast or dinner, or go out to the nearest shop and get something, or order a takeaway, no point in getting stroppy with him. He is probably shattered.

AmberLeaf · 12/06/2013 20:39

Think YABU as you only specified not pizza and didnt ask fr anything in particular.

*what are nacho burgers and where do you buy them?

McNewPants2013 · 12/06/2013 20:40

1 burger each is plenty when served with chips.

squeakytoy · 12/06/2013 20:42

Is there a reason why you couldnt walk to the shops today and do a bit of shopping?

FussandMess · 12/06/2013 20:42

I also don't understand why you are feeding a 1yo so late?

The sensible thing to have done would have been to go to the shop before 4pm, got dinner for everyone, fed dd1 at a sensible hour and then had a nice dinner with dh when the kids were asleep in bed.

I agree, he must be knackered and if I were him I wouldn't be happy with picking my ds and then going shopping while my OH sat indoors doing nothing all day.

velvetspoon · 12/06/2013 20:42

Are these like quarterpounder style burgers, if so one with some pasta/beans/rice or salad (if you haven't got potatoes) is quite enough for tea. You've had 2 sandwiches so it's not like you've had nothing to eat all day and are starving!

And I don't really get why your DH, after an 11 hour working day, then has to go shopping for you? Is there a reason why you couldn't go to the shops yourself today?

AnAirOfHope · 12/06/2013 20:43

Yes my dd is ill she has a temp.

Today I have feed the kids clean bathroom done washing took ds to school, dd to group, back to school for school photo then up to gp for SALT then to football pratice, then to gp back home with dd, bf and she had nap, done online shopping, made bed, sorted clothes out for tomoro. Dh picked ds up went to get the milk and bread and then something for dinner. He gets four burgers thats it nothing else!
