Dh and Nacho burgers

AnAirOfHope · 12/06/2013 20:13

Hi

Dh has worked overtime today 8am till 7pm. He picked ds up on way home from grandparents and called me to say ds had tea up there what was I doing for tea?

I had dd all.day and we are out of bread and milk so I told him to go to the shop and get what he wanted for tea, anything except pizza. All I have had to eat today is two sandwiches, im so hungry I want food.

Dh has come back with a pack of four nacho burgers. We have nothing else as the bread one loaf is for pack lunch and breakfast and lunches so I have one nacho burger for tea.

AIBU to be upset and to give my burger to dd and go to bed in a huff with dh?

(dh also got one loaf and a 2pt of milk as well as the pack of nacho burgers)

^ sorry, ^ is to bed.

AnAirOfHope · 12/06/2013 22:24

Also dd is alergic to egg so I find it readly hard having food in that everyone can eat.

I do meal plan and cook most nights but dh has been taking the frozen batches to work with him for his lunch and we have run out so though it would be good to restock.

Asda do tins of choped toms for 50p
3kg bag of pasta for £2

Farm foods do 30 packs of crisps for £3 good for.pack lunches

Home bargins have haribo sweets small bags of 12 for £1

Haha at the harbos. I have never been to Home Bargains. I must try it.

That is one night's dinner there,

AnAirOfHope · 12/06/2013 22:31

Im sure my son would love that for his tea and an mini milk icelolly Grin

OP posts:
LeGavrOrf · 12/06/2013 22:34

I am sure he would Grin

It is a drudge when you have to think of cooking meals for everyone, especially when someone is ill. Plus I restricted egg when dd was little (she had eczema) and it was surprising how much stuff had egg in it.

Hopefully it will be a better day tomorrow. Buy a wine box!

bedmonster · 12/06/2013 22:38

Very impressive Wilson, although think my dc would look at me in an odd fashion if I served up pasta with ketchup in it! And I've never heard of lentil and rice soup, lots of food for thought there, thankyou for taking time to post. I think I need to start using the freezer a bit more, but actually, I'll probably only stock up with more bloody Ben and jerrys!
My dad used to call things gopping and I just spoke to him which is probably why I used it!

WuzzleMonkey · 12/06/2013 22:46

YABU about what he chose to buy for tea - you told him to choose what he wanted.

Other posters are being unreasonable to tell you that tea was your responsibility because he's been working. You have been working today as well, you're not the bloody food fairy slave.

Notcontent · 12/06/2013 22:49

Bedmonster, I don't think Wilson was proposing to serve pasta with ketchup!!! I think that's tomato sauce as in a tomato pasta sauce.

LetsFaceTheMusicAndDance · 12/06/2013 22:56

Greensleeves, is that you? Grin

Regarding the cards, DH locked mine on Sunday as thought it was his card, rang bank an although I had to wait 2 hours they unlocked it there and then am I just ha to go to a cash machine and remove block

TheDetective · 12/06/2013 23:31

FUCKING HELL. I've just had to wade through pages of shite.

YANBU. Who the fuck eats burgers without a bun. Seriously? WHO? Weirdos that's who!

FWIW the nacho burgers are lovely. I love them. I've had to downgrade to Iceland ones though, as I'm doing slimming worlds and the Asda ones are 6 syns vs 3 syns for Iceland and I need those syns for fucking chocolate okay?!

But burger needs a bun, some salad, and preferably some chips to go with it.

Totally not unreasonable!! And it sounds like a shite day! Doesn't matter how many hours we have been in work - if one of us has been home and can't get to the shop for whatever reason, and the other at work, the person at work nips on the way home.

How's that unreasonable Confused?!?!

Doubtfuldaphne · 12/06/2013 23:43

I'd be annoyed too. It should be built in to your brain what makes a meal. Even if I hadn't slept for a week and I had to get something for dinner I'd still choose an actual dinner!

Maybe he thought he saw some chips knocking about and got it wrong.

As its a one off (I hope) I'd let him off. Just dont rely on him ever again.

aldiwhore · 12/06/2013 23:46

YANBU. Your DH is NBU.

Lesson: order your online shopping before your cupboards are bare and always have at least a few packets of couscous in the cupboard (or beans, or anything you wouldn't choose to eat that is edible).

Hope you feast tomorrow!

TheDetective · 13/06/2013 00:01

Oh and clearly I'd be unreasonable even more because DP would have been informed that he could turn right back round and go back to the shop. Same as I would do if I forgot the vast majority of ingredients to make a meal!!

notanyanymore · 13/06/2013 00:02

For fuck sake why do men apparently need the obvious spelling out to them and why are so women so keen to try and emulate their mothers?! No op YANBU that's a ridiculous thing to get for a family tea. And as for the 'he's been working an 11 hour shift' crap, so have you!! My 10 hour shifts (plus 2 hour commute) are my chill out days in comparison, I get to go to the loo without fit being a military operation and drink whole cups of tea... HOT!!!!

FussandMess · 13/06/2013 00:29

Bollocks is being a SAHM anything like working an 11 hr shift.

Big difference.

And I say this as a SAHM to three dc who used to work long shifts.

Can't help but think that if a woman turned up with the same crap in the same circs she'd be slated with-"Oh, is that REALLY all you could think of getting"?

But a man-ah, bless his little cotton socks-he twied his best.

RhondaJean · 13/06/2013 08:47

Christ op you need to check your portion size I do four if those for two adults a teenager and a fast growing 8 yo, ok with a whole meal roll and salad each but I'd never serve with rice chips etc too! We are not light eaters here either.

I'm not sure I understand your problem tbh. And I don't get how you did the shopping online without a functioning card.

ivanapoo · 13/06/2013 09:12

YANBU, you don't have to be psychic to know what makes up a semi decent meal, and a burger by itself is not it.

Once you're in the hell that is asda is it really much more hassle for an adult to pick up a bit of veg and a bag of salad or coleslaw to go on the side?

But no the poor little diddums man couldn't possibly think of that for himself (after working what sounds like a fairly standard day to me) so it's your fault, according to loads of posters... FFS.

Maybe I'm married to superman but he's out of the house longer than that every day and still manages to pick something decent up if I need him to without needing a full briefing.

Glad you're seeing the funny side now though.

AnAirOfHope · 13/06/2013 09:12

I ordered the food by writting down dh card number and code before he went to work and then did the online shopping.

I could have asked him to go back out to shop but felt that was u as he was so tired and just wanted food and to go to bed.
