Dh and Nacho burgers

Hi

Dh has worked overtime today 8am till 7pm. He picked ds up on way home from grandparents and called me to say ds had tea up there what was I doing for tea?

I had dd all.day and we are out of bread and milk so I told him to go to the shop and get what he wanted for tea, anything except pizza. All I have had to eat today is two sandwiches, im so hungry I want food.

Dh has come back with a pack of four nacho burgers. We have nothing else as the bread one loaf is for pack lunch and breakfast and lunches so I have one nacho burger for tea.

AIBU to be upset and to give my burger to dd and go to bed in a huff with dh?

(dh also got one loaf and a 2pt of milk as well as the pack of nacho burgers)

Notcontent I still think it's ketchup!! I read it back and it says with tomato sauce blah blah 'and tomatos' thus leading me to believe it has both ketchup AND tomatos. The plot thickens...
Either way, I now really want to try ketchup and pasta - has anyone ever eaten this?
Oh, and WILSOOOOOONNNNN, we need you back to clarify please Grin

NeoMaxiZoomDweebie · 13/06/2013 09:28

Why did DS eat your burger?? There were FOUR! S you're saying DH had three and ds had one leaving none for you?

Odder and odder.

MelanieCheeks · 13/06/2013 09:29

Everyone else ate them because they were "not your" (nacho) burgers....is that it?

melika · 13/06/2013 09:30

The only difference in my house would be is, DH would not contemplate creating a meal, full stop. His version of a meal is what can he order online.

The last meal he created, when I worked a late night was, frozen chips, waffles and fish fingers all fried in deep fat fryer. (How I envy those couples who share the cooking or DH do all the cooking).

Soo.... that's why I would have a back up in freezer like spag bol, chilli, meatballs etc. I can throw out in 20mins.

YABU for thinking your DH (who has no previous history of cooking) can create a nice meal from a local shop.

WilsonFrickett · 13/06/2013 10:00

NOOOOOOOOOO IT IS NOT KETCHUP! Although I have eaten pasta with butter and ketchup in my student days, it is not a combo I can recommend (although now I'm typing about it I am strangely drawn to try it again) It is tinned tomatoes, which form a tomato sauce. Later in post shortened to toms as the wine went down. Grin

VinegarDrinker · 13/06/2013 10:03

Mortified the OP said they were Asda Nacho beanburgers. Which are veggie and delicious and also fairly healthy

AnAirOfHope · 13/06/2013 10:07

Yes veggy burger.

Dh had two, dd had one but only throw most on floor and ds had one, I think ds is having a growth spurt or is eating more as he has started playing football three nights a week at 4 years old.

Oh, Wilson, I feel strangely deflated :(
Might just have to try out the pasta with ketchup for my lunch though, lots of butter and salt, now i'm thinking about it, why wouldn't it be delicious?!

SavoyCabbage · 13/06/2013 10:25

I think he's done his best. Poor bastard. He got dinner - not pizza.

You should overhaul your household management. Get in some emergency rations in case you totally run out of every food again. Tin of soup. Bag of rice. And stash a fiver somewhere.

HibiscusIsland · 13/06/2013 10:28

What are formula companies saying? Are they saying the milk won't be good quality if you don't eat healthily or something? Hmm

diddl · 13/06/2013 10:46

"YABU for thinking your DH (who has no previous history of cooking) can create a nice meal from a local shop."

No previous history of cooking?

I missed where it says that.

So he went straight from Mummy to OP?

Even my teenagers who don't cook much put shopping away & have seen me cooking enough to have an idea!

MidniteScribbler · 13/06/2013 10:52

Honestly, has anyone ever gone to the shops and NOT forgotten something? Long day at work, standing in front of rows of supermarket shelves and your brain just says "read error.... does not compute". You grab whatever off the shelf and just go with it. Perhaps you think there's some chips in the freezer, or some potatoes in the cupboard. Is there is anyone here that works a 13 hour day, long commute and still serves up a gourmet masterchef three course meal every night?

So he forgot some sides. Of all the sins in the world, is it really something to get worked up over? There was bread. Have toast. It's really not that big of a deal. He made a mistake, we've all done it. Don't sweat the small stuff.

Ra88 · 13/06/2013 10:55

why not get off your butt and YOU go to the shop to get food for tea ready for when your dh gets back from work after doing an 11 hour shift! I'd never dream of sending him to the shop after working those hours, and picking up child , just because you have had dd all day !? hard life !

LeGavrOrf · 13/06/2013 11:29

And here come the punctuation brigade...

WilsonFrickett · 13/06/2013 11:41

Sorry bed Sad

Try it anyway and see how you go.

AnAirOfHope · 13/06/2013 12:25

I had a cream cheese and cucumber wrap instead, totally forgot I was supposed to be having the pasta/ketchup delicacy! Well, something to look forward to tomorrow I guess!

Hooray for OP and new bank cards and food Grin. Now, was there any pasta or ketchup in that food order?...

Madamecastafiore · 13/06/2013 12:48

You need some fall back pasta sauces, tins of soup, beans, spaghetti and bags of frozen risotto.

I cannot believe they you have nothing that will make a meal or at least a substantial snackette.

ChazsBrilliantAttitude · 13/06/2013 13:10

Hurrah for chocolate Grin

I usually keep a bag of filled pasta in the freezer and some of those stir in pasta sauces. Also oven chips are handy for emergencies.

"Bollocks is being a SAHM anything like working an 11 hr shift.

Big difference.

And I say this as a SAHM to three dc who used to work long shifts."

I'm a SAHM and also used to work long shifts and I disagree with your opinion :)

WuzzleMonkey · 13/06/2013 14:31

Actually, though it depends what kind of work he does though - if it's very physical then fair point.
