Hi

Dh has worked overtime today 8am till 7pm. He picked ds up on way home from grandparents and called me to say ds had tea up there what was I doing for tea?

I had dd all.day and we are out of bread and milk so I told him to go to the shop and get what he wanted for tea, anything except pizza. All I have had to eat today is two sandwiches, im so hungry I want food.

Dh has come back with a pack of four nacho burgers. We have nothing else as the bread one loaf is for pack lunch and breakfast and lunches so I have one nacho burger for tea.

AIBU to be upset and to give my burger to dd and go to bed in a huff with dh?

(dh also got one loaf and a 2pt of milk as well as the pack of nacho burgers)

Why couldn't you eat the bread and make a milky hot drink??

SchroSawMargeryDaw · 12/06/2013 21:09

YABU - Those burgers are really really nice!

DeepPurple · 12/06/2013 21:09

Erm YABU. Surely you have something you can put with the burgers? Why do you need a whole loaf for tomorrow? Why not use some of the loaf now be buy a new one tomorrow?

LeGavrOrf · 12/06/2013 21:10

I know how being knackered and hungry is so depressing.

I have just got in after a long train journey from work all day. Didn't have time to get lunch and had to run for the train. The only sandwiches the buffet had left were egg and fucking rocket, so had bag of m and ms for dinner and a glass of wine. And got in and can't be arsed so will have wine and a lump of cheese for dinner (health)

I am finding this thread really Confused.

isitsnowingyet · 12/06/2013 21:13

Another one here who really likes the Asda Bean/Nacho burger things - surely this is healthy processed food - there are beans in it FGS

LeaveTheBastid · 12/06/2013 21:13

Really don't understand why you have absolutely nothing else at all to eat in the house. Even when we desperately need shopping we always have the basics in and some ancient things floating about in the freezer we could make a meal out of.

A lesson learnt for you. Well, two. 1: don't let the food run so low and 2: be specific about what you want when speaking to DH and don't assume he has acquired psychic abilities since leaving the house that morning.

MissStrawberry · 12/06/2013 21:14

Did you have nothing in the house?

My children have had strange combinations for tea in the past when either something has been missed and gone past the use by or else I have run out of something I thought I had. They survived.

SchroSawMargeryDaw · 12/06/2013 21:16

And actually, I think those nacho burgers would be far more nutritious than practically any micro meal you will find...

LeGavrOrf · 12/06/2013 21:17

I really, really want some nachos now.

ClaimedByMe · 12/06/2013 21:18

justeat.co.uk order yourself a curry

NachoAddict · 12/06/2013 21:19

Yabu but I am always u when I am hungry.

ThoughtsPlease · 12/06/2013 21:20

I find it odd that if the school and nursery are within a mile of each other there isn't anywhere to even buy bread? Usually schools and nurseries are in areas with other amenities, unless you live somewhere rural which sounds odd if you don't drive?!

Anyway I think you need to plan your food shopping better, I am a single parent to 3 DC ranging from 1 to 7 years, we live in a rural location with no shops within several miles, but I do drive, but I cannot nip out at night anywhere for example for anything I may have forgotten.

So I ensure that I constantly plan for whatever we need.

AnAirOfHope · 12/06/2013 21:21

I have found a fusion bag of rice in frezer and having that as ds eat my burger.

I know im being u but I feel like it should be reasonble to go "what just that, im hunger :("

Dh is reading green eggs and ham now to kids, is he gaslighting me or is he just really unlucky!

Agreed, Schro

Am pmsl at the pearl clutching upthread about a BFing mother eating a Shock processed beanburger

Notcontent · 12/06/2013 21:21

Well, I think unless you are on benefits and really struggling, it's silly to have absolutely no food left at home. Even when I am out of fresh food I alway have stuff in my food cupboard like pasta, rice, pesto, tinned tuna, canned tomatoes, baked beans, etc.

I also try to have a few things in my freezer for emergencies - I don't do ready meals, so make large portions of food and freeze them in individual portions.

squeakytoy · 12/06/2013 21:21

I dont believe that there was no food shop at all within a mile of a pub and a school. Very odd.

VinegarDrinker · 12/06/2013 21:21

I might need to make a special trip to Asda tomorrow for some Nacho burgers now

squeakytoy · 12/06/2013 21:22

"Dh is reading green eggs and ham now to kids, is he gaslighting me or is he just really unlucky!"

the poor sod has just done a 13 hours shift and is probably knackered.. I doubt he has the energy to gaslight, he is just getting out of the way of your unreasonableness

MissStrawberry · 12/06/2013 21:23

"Dh is reading green eggs and ham now to kids, is he gaslighting me or is he just really unlucky!"

What? Confused.

surroundedbyblondes · 12/06/2013 21:23

I do actually get where you're coming from. My DH is the nicest and kindest of men but if I asked him to buy something for dinner without giving him specific instructions he would have quite a flap. I do 90% of the food shopping and cooking but ALL the meal-planning at sometimes I would love him to just take control there so that I could relax and enjoy without having to be the grown-up who fixes everything food-wise.

WilsonFrickett · 12/06/2013 21:23

Oh FFS, I wasn't going to pile on but no, he is not gas lighting you. He is tired. He locked your cards by accident. And he grabbed the first thing he saw for dinner. Have something to eat and calm down.

LeGavrOrf · 12/06/2013 21:24

Sometimes life is just like that though.

You might not go to the shops for a but and suddenly there is little in, and you have cupboards full of useless crap or more pitifully plenty of stuff you could cook to make something, but nothing you could just plonk in a pan and eat quickly. I could make loads of stuff from my cupboard ingredients but its the being arsed.

VinegarDrinker · 12/06/2013 21:25

Why not share both the rice and the burgers? Confused That would make a perfectly nice tea

LeGavrOrf · 12/06/2013 21:25

I assume you are joking about the gaslighting.

I think Dr Seuss would have finished me off after a day at work.
