Russell Howard's apparently insurmountable breast milk issues...

I love RH...every last thing about him....except his apparently massive mental problem regarding breast milk.

Every other show he seems to be pulling faces, gagging and generally freaking out about it...

Russell, darling, it's just milk sweetie. Milk designed by nature for humans to drink. I mean you do realise that cow's milk come out of cow mammary glands don't you?

Maybe you could redress the balance and do a set on how utterly disgusting it is for anyone to drink, see, think about or generally come into contact with cow's milk.....

AIBU to think RH should stop with the whole BM is disgusting meme and if he can't say anything reasonable on the topic then silence on the matter would work just fine?

I don't like the idea of an adult actually feeding from the breast but then adults don't drink from the cows udder either. I'd prefer if adults want to drink milk that instead of using a calfs milk they use milk from a willing human though or a dairy free one.

You can't object to an adult drinking human milk and not cows. It would be more natural to drink human milk anyway. We're the only species to drink milk from another mammal and also to drink it past infancy. We are freaks. Cows milk is GROSS, full of puss.

Not keen on most comedians, Russell no different. Not funny, get laughs in using infantile crude jokes etc.

Picturepuncture · 03/06/2013 16:01

I mean a bloke could drink his own piss with less kerfuffle than he could drink his wife's breast milk.

I disagree!

RiotsNotDiets · 03/06/2013 16:07

It pissed me off too, seeing him so repulsed by breast milk and then an entire studio audience laughing at the repulsiveness of it made me feel like a freak for breastfeeding.

I imagined myself sitting in that audience and feeling humiliated and disgusting, plus, while my STBXH never drank mine, I've hear that it's very common for the baby's father to have a go, so how many people must have felt like they'd done something wrong or dirty when watching that?

I read an article once by a woman living in Mongolia, where natural term breastfeeding is the norm, she said that if she left her expressed milk in the fridge at work people would nick it and drink it! There is so much uptightness about bf in the UK, I already feel like a weirdo for feeding my nearly 2 and a half year old, I could do without hearing what a freak I am when I'm watching the telly and trying to relax.

Having said all of that though, I'm more concerned about how often he makes 'jokes' about being anally raped. He must make about five references to rape per show, I think I must be missing the joke because I just can't see the funny side. Confused

I can't say I've ever noticed RH make a fuss about breast milk. I generally think he's quite funny and the 'good news' or whatever it's called at the end of his show is lovely.

An artist had made a wall of plaster casts of fannies to show how every one looks different. Fairly weird piece of art but RH went round laughing at all the fannies that were 'wrong'. As such I now think he's a bit of a prick.

Another one

RiotsNotDiets · 03/06/2013 16:20

Does anyone actually do teabagging in RL?

ImTooHecsyForYourParty · 03/06/2013 16:20

what does teabagging mean?

I am NOT googling.

My hard drive will already have to be cremated with me when I die.

RiotsNotDiets · 03/06/2013 16:24

Hecsy it's where the man dangles his balls over another person's mouth and dips them in like tea bags. Grin

I think he talks about it in a practical joke sense, like tea bagging a friend while they sleep.

Because sexual assault is obviously hilarious. Hmm

CherylTrole · 03/06/2013 16:59

RH and other comedians joke about MANY things. If they all joked about the same things it would be pretty boring. Like Frankie Boyle, he takes the piss out of everything on the planet. So no one is left out IYSWIM. Sooner or later everyone on the planet could be potentially offended by a comedian?

CherylTrole · 03/06/2013 17:01

RH has made plenty of jokes about semen. So has he offended men then? Confused

thecakeisalie · 03/06/2013 17:17

I do like RH but I agree with you the whole being overly dramatic and disgusted about bm has annoyed me a few times. I keep reminding myself that he's probably a bit naive as he hasn't had kids yet and like others have said comedians will generally pick up on alsorts of topics and offend someone along the way. The odd annoyance isn't enough to make me want to stop watching his show.

CherylTrole · 03/06/2013 17:24

Even so RH must be in the majority of men. It does usually get the boak, screwed up nose effect on TV in any arena.
I dont understand what the fuss is, really I dont? Why does it annoy?

OrangeFireandGoldashes · 03/06/2013 17:46

TBH I'd guess his thought process is less "am I upholding societal prejudices and marginalising a sector of the population while erroneously overlooking the nutritional and biological advantages of human breast milk" so much as "will this get a laugh?"

amazingmumof6 · 03/06/2013 18:12

some of the comments made me remember that scene in Borat when he offers this bloke some cheese, saying his mother made it.

bloke takes a bite, then Borat says "she makes it from her breasts"

guy's face - pricelessGrin

otherwise - meh, I don't actually recall him criticizing a mother bf s bsby as such.

but if he was to ridicule someone who let's say puts bf in coffee, so what? I don't know anyone who does that in RL so yes, that is laughable!

or that woman who breasfed on the tube, with her non-feeding boob ALSO hanging out! yes, I laughed at that! Grin

amazingmumof6 · 03/06/2013 18:13

try again

*bf a baby

** puts BM in coffee

noddyholder · 03/06/2013 18:15

I am immunosuppressed and had a virulent conjunctivitis that all manner of consultants tried everything to cure. My eyesight was starting to suffer and a friend gave me some of hers and I bathed it 4 times and was cured and it never came back!

amazingmumof6 · 03/06/2013 18:19

btw I breastfed all of our 6 children and never get upset or feel offended about any bf related jokes.

maybe I'm just older and wiser.
maybe I just don't give a shit.

and now I'm longing to see all the Bitty sketches of Little Britain!Wink

5madthings · 03/06/2013 18:19

noddy I always used my breast milk to treat conjunctivitis, and when dd got conjunctivitis but I was no longer breeding a friend expressed and gave me some after the eye ointment/drops from the drs hadn't worked, the breast milk cleared it in days.
