Specially when it is said on here after a good hour or so of titting about!

It is annoying. Normally said by people who aren't so much as busy but complete faffers.

I never got the 'don't get to go to the toilet in peace thing'. Just go to the toilet and shut the door. Toddlers are too small to even reach the handle

YANBU to hate the phrase. That Boots ad on here at the mo sets my teeth on edge. It's so twee.

yanbu i am a mum of 2 and work very part time and i am absolutely NOT busy at all.....apart from if i have lots of social plans like meeting other not busy mums for lunch and shopping sessions

I hate this too. I was in a meeting in a voluntary capacity the other week and a woman actually used the phrase "us busy mums" - don't include me in your bizarre marketing speak, thank you.

some mothers just like to make martyrs out of themselves, and some fathers come to that. I have never got that whole 'not a minute to myself' thing. But then I am selfish

I used to think nothing of 60+ hours a week at work and top it up with after hours' socialising with clients.

I also used to wonder what the deal was with ads targeting "busy mothers", then I became one and now I don't wonder anymore.

I have no idea how a 1 year old can be so time consuming, but there you go

I remember i had to go to a do a few years ago for a worky type thing

everyone was taking a plate of food. The organiser rang me up and kindly said could I do xyz as they KNEW I was a busy mum ;)

Very kind but I really am not!

It's definitely a boakworthy phrase. I do feel much busier than before I had children though. I think it's the relentlessness of it all. They're always there and always demanding something. At least at work you have control over your workload. You can't do that with children, they simply don't get it.

well I'm busy this week. but that's to do with work, nothing to do with being a mum. I adore my holidays because at least then I'm busy doing things I've chosen to do, fun things with the kids.

I have a Facebook friend who is the MASTER of this. Half of her statuses are about being a busy mum, but the other half are about the many and varied TV series she watches devotedly.

I never understand the too busy to put something decent on or brush your hair crowd. Don't start me on wearing pjs to the school drop off.

It is a silly phrase.

I, too, have hot cups of coffee and private time in the loo. It's not that hard, really!

I always drive dd2 to school in my pjs she has to be there by 8 and I have a baby and a toddler to get ready.

I'm a busy mum. I have a 25mo, I'm 6mo pregnant, I often work from home with no childcare, I'm studying an OU course, I do all the household cooking and laundry (other tasks are split), I WOH sometimes too. I do a LOT when DS is sleeping.

But I don't bitch about it. I'm just not available to go for coffee weekly or to sign DS up to a class that happens every Tuesday at the same time.

There were 3 months a few years ago when I did 14-16 hour days, 6 days a week. THAT was busy. I was a bit ill afterwards.

At the moment I'm physically coping with everything and my body doesn't seem likely to pack up like it's started to do in the past.

I do spend time on here. It's necessary to stop thinking about important me/family/work things sometimes and MN is a good way to disengage.

I think there really must be something wrong with your time management if you're not managing to brush your hair or get dressed by school time.

Routine, routine, routine ...

an old fashioned concept these days, but i wouldn't have coped as well with my 3 when they were all little without it.
