Very fed up of this weather.... Waiting for the spring to arrive but not holding my breathe. AIBU? All I want is to not wear a coat for 8 months of the year!!!

OP posts:
OhDearieDearieMe · 28/03/2013 15:49

YANBU at all. It's very wearing being scrunched up and cold the whole time!

TheCrackFox · 28/03/2013 15:52

Yanbu

I am sick of the sight of my boots, coat and gloves. Utterly depressing.

MrsTerryPratchett · 28/03/2013 15:55

Do not underestimate the greatness of a temperate climate. No killer bugs; no fire storm forest fires; no regular heatwave deaths; no 2 metres of snow in the winter.

Also, if you are planning to move may I tell you that I emigrated and there are; bears; cougars; brown recluse spiders who rot your flesh off; earthquakes and possible tsunamis. Raccoon get into my rubbish, deer eat my plants and my friend's children's school was evacuated for a cougar sighting.

LaurieFairyCake · 28/03/2013 15:59

Where the fuck do you live that spiders rot your flesh?!?

MechanicalTheatre · 28/03/2013 16:00

OP, I'm with you. I would be fine with our winters if I knew we were going to get a decent summer. I used to live in Germany and yes, the winters were colder and darker and grimmer than ours, but at least summer was properly hot and lovely.

wankerchief · 28/03/2013 16:01

Spiders rot your flesh?

Shit A brick im never leaving my house again.

FlumpsRule · 28/03/2013 16:03

YADNBU I'm totally fed up with weather. We haven't seen enough sun for years.. Hmm We are all lacking vitamin D & developing SAD - Not to mention extortionate heating bills.... Grumble, grumble... Where would you like to go?

thebody · 28/03/2013 16:03

Yrnbu... Hate hate hate this weather but love this country.

MrsTerryPratchett · 28/03/2013 16:12

Google brown recluse, get images if your stomach is VERY strong. I live in North America.

OccamsRaiser · 28/03/2013 16:33

If you're still feeling down about no sunshine, I hear Cyprus gets 360 days of sunshine each year?

You might lose a percentage of any money you have in the bank, but it would be in the sun!

Labootin · 28/03/2013 16:45

Constant sun can get very boring too.

I miss cold wet days (for about a nano second)

HoHoHoNoYouDont · 28/03/2013 16:46

OMG @ brown recluse spiders.

Are these house spiders or do you have to be out at the back of beyond to encounter one?

VerySmallSqueak · 28/03/2013 16:49

I think I might get the staff to air the mansion in the South of France.

I'd be gone like a shot if I could manage the school run from the Cote D'Azure.

juanca · 28/03/2013 16:56

I live somewhere temperate (18-22ish degrees each day) and I have forgotten what it feels like to feel the cold.

BUT I miss winters a bit! Crunchy walks through frost, pints of ale in pubs with names like The Fat Man's Arms and snuggling up under a duvet.

And yes, I know I'm romanticising winter quite a lot but my point is the grass is always bloody greener, ain't it?

MidnightMasquerader · 28/03/2013 16:57

Can I give you a little ray of hope...?

I'm in the southern hemisphere and the summer before last was an unrelenting wash-out with rain every day. Your 2012 summer ended up being much the same.

This (Indian) summer, winding down, has been a glorious, drought-ridden fiesta (sorry, farmers) that just goes on and on.

Maybe you guys are in for similar?

March is always depressing in the UK. April is where it's at. :)

currentbuns · 28/03/2013 17:03

The forecasters are saying April will be just as bad...

juneau · 28/03/2013 17:03

No YANBU - I've been thinking the same this past week. I'm so fed up of my winter coats, gloves, scraping ice off the car every morning before taking the DC to school, my right thumb, which always cracks in the winter and is soooo sore and it's been like that since before Christmas. As soon as one crack heals up, another one opens up Sad

I actually think I'm suffering from a mild version of SAD. Last year's non-existent summer combined with this long winter has really got to me.

digerd · 28/03/2013 17:13

I would love to have 23 degress all year round. Is there such a place?

When I lived in northern Germany our summers were worse than here. That was from 1975 -1997.

MooseBeTimeForCoffee · 28/03/2013 17:17

Digerd Singapore? It rains a lot though ..

MooseBeTimeForCoffee · 28/03/2013 17:19

Well, there aren't many places where you need to turn the heating off and the a/c on. We've had deep snow since October but its getting warmer all the time. It was warmer here yesterday than it was in the UK.

SofaCanary · 28/03/2013 17:20

It's just so fucking relentless this year, I'm so sick of wearing three layers just to sit in my bloody house, longing for the carefree days of venturing out in nowt more than a t-shirt and jeans...not much to ask really is it.

whosiwhatsit · 28/03/2013 17:27

Thank you, Midnight, I needed that!

DragonMamma · 28/03/2013 17:31

My PIL live in Cyprus.

I'm all for living in the sun but they are skint because of the economy there and so they just have the reverse problems, aircon instead of heating, the pool is leaking, the tiles have gone funny in the heat etc.

I wish it would not be so bloody cold though, I'm bored of my coat.

shockers · 28/03/2013 17:46

You should move to somewhere like Australia (Perth ideally), then you can reply to every fb status your wife's friend puts on with the current temperature where you are... she'll love it and it will never ever become tedious to her Hmm.

MidnightMasquerader · 28/03/2013 17:49

Emigration bores. Gotta love 'em...
