To want to emigrate to somewhere that gets sunshine?

Very fed up of this weather.... Waiting for the spring to arrive but not holding my breathe. AIBU? All I want is to not wear a coat for 8 months of the year!!!

It is very overrated being hot all the time! My daughter recently did evacuation training at school (bush fires perhaps). We have had no rain for ages & one of the local lakes has completely dried up. Over time the sun makes the paint peel off your car!

It Autumn and the other day is was 36!

I live in Australia, we have lots of deadly species. The white-tipped spiders will cause some people's skin to ulcerate horribly but far more deadly are the funnel webs, brown snakes, sharks etc. We have had great weather this summer but didn't last year, it rained nearly everyday.

We did, we love it here and don't have brown recluses. We have snow two hours drive away all winter and several times a year an hour away. It is sunny and mild year round with little exception (if it is raining or grey one day then drive twenty minutes away for different weather).

We've been here thirteen years and aren't bored of it. I heartily recommend it. It was 22 deg here today and we're expecting a low of 12.

There are pluses and minuses of EVERY place, but the weather is not a minus here.

I moved from Ireland to Perth six weeks ago so we are bloody loving the sunshine and totally do not miss the shite weather back home. Sorry to be a smug emigration bore. I haven't seen any spiders yet either although I did see MASSIVE cockroaches.

The coldest it ever gets to here in Singapore is 22 degrees. However the humidity is high so it is sticky. I must admit I love it; I love the bright sun and warmth.

There are snakes, monkeys, lizards and cockroaches around (but not too often thankfully).

I'm in Abu Dhabi and am loving it. I had to wear a jumper for about three weeks over the Christmas period when the temperature dropped to around 14/15C at night but that is it. We do get sand storms sometimes though.

I'm in north Africa and we have blue skies every day. In 2 years, we have had rain about 5 times, and when it rains - it lasts 2-3 minutes.

Its boiling hot in the summer, and right now it's sandstorm season, but i really love the weather here. Shame the food is so shite!

It has only rained here twice in the last year. It is a lovely breezy 28c, the sea is warm and clear. But, every time it rains, we all go out and stand in it and talk about it for days. The grass is always greener.

Ah! Cool! Would have loved to gone and seen them, we are still in the mentality that we can't afford it and I have to get out of that, our quality of life is so muh better here.

I thought the sun always shines in Sydney when I got there is july it rained solidly for 6 weeks it did not stop but you do get lovely summers. It is dull often in la too in winter and surprisingly cold at night even in autumn

It was good but a bit overshadowed by The Temptations and Supremes we saw in Doha last week.

Perfect sunshine ALL day today with a top of 21 in Canberra today. We have cold short winters and lovely warm summers and its nice and dry and sunny most of the time. Ski fields are about two hours away in the winter. Beach is 1.5 hours away in the summer. Sydney short plane flight or 2.5 hour drive away. Love it here

I hate our winters, get SAD really depresses me, I live for the time I can go abroad for (almost) guaranteed sunshine, I love the feeling of the sun on my skin, I almost wept for joy last time I got off a plane in Palma and felt the sun, oh I long for that. Instead stuck here, ice, snow, wind, rain, I can't wait for the summer, sick of it all then I get down when it's July and August and we don't get any.
If I were a risk taker I'd live to live somewhere sunnier, I have family that rely on me so would feel bad moving away, so envious of friends who have done this and seeing their fb status of the temperatures makes me feel green with envy..

It is so hard with FB and emails when you live away. I think that it is very tempting when you move away to belittle what you have left behind. luckily, MN, especially if you are in the ME, do not allow you to boast too much! Living away is fab, I have no desire to live in the UK again and have enjoyed most of my years away, except Africa which was not fun. There are loads of things about home that are close to my heart, autumns, the smell of chimneys in the crisp winter night, the Police, the security of knowing you can't get booted out tomorrow because you have offended the wrong person etc

The problem is I have no desire to live in most of the places listed.

Dubai: Sharia law? No thanks. Also no culture, lots of sand, and who the hell wants to be a woman in the middle-east?
Australia: too far away, no culture, nasty spiders and snakes, full of Australians, DH's job doesn't exist there.
USA: east coast and mid-west has worse winters than here and boiling hot, humid summers - tried that for six years and actually prefer the climate here. West coast and Hawaii, would live there in a heartbeat (and could - we're dual citizens), but DH's job doesn't exist there.
SA: no wish to live in a gated community, too much violence.
Italy: I tried living there and it drove me mad. Bureaucracy is hideous, nepotism is rife, xenophobia is depressing, tourist hordes from Easter to Oct.

I'd move to the south of France, but again, DH's job doesn't exist there and he doesn't speak French, ditto the rest of Europe.

So we're stuck here until DH retires.

My research was correct then. San Diego has the best climate for me.
But strange that there has been no climate change there since I found that book in the library over climates in USA over the last 30 years, and that was in the 1980s.

Singapore - heat yes, but oh lord the dreadful humidity. Spent most of my time there feeling like a soaking wet piece of string. Can't do humidity.

Absolutely love beautiful New Zealand despite it trying to explode all the time - apart from the sandflies of course. Bastards.

Love Australia too, except for the rainforest bits (soaking string syndrome again). Mind you, some of the worst wet weather ever the times I've been there has been the east coast. Come to sunny Australia? Pah - it's a con. .

South Africa has a lovely climate, except when it rains so hard that the ground is covered with really sweet little frogs running everywhere.

Didn't like the Middle East - too much sand and crap attitudes to women.

Love most of the Mediterranean countries for living but didn't like working there so much: am too much instilled into northern European work ethic and efficiency.

India: now there's a culture shock!

China: haven't worked there for 15 years now but every time I was there I realised that was the future - must seem even more so now.....

Having spent so much time in so many countries I still think (with some exceptions) Britain has some of the loveliest scenery in the world.

But I guess the hot air is a tolerable dry one and not humid. Can't do anything when it's humid here in UK. It knocks me out.

underground irrigation. The air is dry and breezy except in the summer when it is very humid and about 53c. Still, beats a crap healthcare system, paying income tax and drizzle.

I've never lived anywhere but central Scotland. I love it and will never emigrate, but this winter has brought me down a bit.

I just want to get on with my usual spring routines (pedicures, weight loss, getting summer clothes out) but its week after week of hibernating on the sofa and shivering in the morning.

I actually no longer care what I look like. This weather does not merit any effort on my part.

I normally don't go out if the weather is horrible as don't drive and live on my own < and am no longer a spring chicken>. But now I have a little dog to walk twice a day, so been buying eskimo outfits in the sales.

One pair of lovely boots has been complimented on 4 times - all by men and my jackets are in lovely colours - never wear dark colours. And I like to colour co-ordinate too . The other day I had red ankle boots and red gloves.
