To want to put something disgusting in the milk

ariane5 · 14/03/2013 23:15

For the past 3 weeks somebody has stolen the 2 pints I get delivered from my doorstep each friday.

Iam so tempted to mix something horrible in with the half a pint I have in fridge, stick lid back on neatly and put it out for the morning.

Cheeky fuckers.

Any chance you could watch and try and catch them?

starfishmummy · 14/03/2013 23:19

Just leave it somewhere warm so that it goes off.

Stopped the office milk theif in her tracks.

ariane5 · 14/03/2013 23:20

Our milk gets delivered about 5 am, I could get up early but I wouldn't know what to say to whoever it is!

I'm just so angry I know its only 6 pints of milk I've lost but I've had to pay for them and its annoying that somebody is taking it from our doorstep.

Is there anywhere else your milkman could leave it? You can get milk lockers but you shouldn't have to really. Bastards.

GregBishopsBottomBitch · 14/03/2013 23:29

Get up early, wait at the front door, armed with something rank and smelly ready to fire, that'll fucking teach the thieving bastards.

catlady1 · 14/03/2013 23:30

I would. Not something dangerous but something really gross. Not sure what... maybe garlic? Chilli powder? Salt? Or let it go off, like starfish said. You might have to do it a few times for them to get the message though.

StuntGirl · 14/03/2013 23:31

If you don't have anything else to do I'd get up early, wait for the thief, open the door and say "Oh lovely that'll be £x for the milk please". OR open the door and take a picture of them stealing it. Either way will probably be enough to scare them into stopping! Grin

ariane5 · 14/03/2013 23:31

No, nowhere else it could be left.Think I will have to either get a milk locker or just stop getting it delivered.

Its been so frustrating the last 3 fridays, dd1 wants her cereal, we want a cup of tea and dh has to go across to shops as milk has been taken.

I know I'm going to end up looking through spy hole on door for hours in the morning waiting to catch them !

Is it definitely being delivered?

I'd get up and find out what's happening.

OutragedFromLeeds · 14/03/2013 23:33

Do you have a window above your door? I'd go for a bucket of icy water over the thief.

ThingummyBob · 14/03/2013 23:33

I'd add something nasty OP but then I am a right cow Grin

What were you thinking? Eye drops is always a good one. . .

StuntGirl · 14/03/2013 23:34

Ooh nice one leeds. Or a water pistol filled with sour milk, soak the fuckers with it.

ThingummyBob · 14/03/2013 23:36

Leeds what if she gets the actual milkman Shock Grin

Getting up at that time I'd be too bleary eyed to aim properly with any sort of pistol.

I'm actually quite in favour of the bucket of water now. Especially if its someone on their way to work and you soak them through - imagine explaining that to your boss!

ariane5 · 14/03/2013 23:37

Def being delivered, I phoned dairy to check.

It is del so early though but we also get up early anyway around 6 am and its gone by then so I'm wondering if its a neighbour who sees it being delivered and grabs it straight away? Its been driving me mad! Its only milk but its made me so angry

StuntGirl · 14/03/2013 23:38

I'd be angry too ariane. It's theft, it doesn't matter what it is.

LadyPessaryPam · 14/03/2013 23:38

Get some phenolphthalein, it's a lab indicator and a very powerful laxative. I caught a thief many years ago at Uni by doctoring a yoghurt. Only a few drops are needed.

Raum · 14/03/2013 23:39

Record them taking it - put in online

ariane5 · 14/03/2013 23:39

Its glass bottles, no labels so I could easily refill a bottle with anything!

What do eye drops do then ?

Next time you do get a delivery, keep one bottle out on the side near the cooker, or in the airing cupboard for 3 or 4 days, then put that one out for the thief to take.

Or go the quick route - mix in some lemon juice and plain cottage cheese.

Should do the trick - no one likes chunky milk!

LazyMonkeyButler · 14/03/2013 23:41

I'd just get up at 5am, retrieve milk from doorstep, put it in fridge and return to bed.

But for next Friday, I would have 2 pints of the mankiest, sourest milk prepared to do a switcheroo. It would then go - get up at 5am, retrieve milk from doorstep, put it in fridge, replace with rank "something I prepared earlier" milk and return to bed.

That should do the trick! Either that or paint the back half of the bottles & see which neighbour is literally red handed the next day!

whethergirl · 14/03/2013 23:42

I would be dying to find out who it is. Is there no way you can set up a camera? Then put it on youtube?

LadyBigtoes · 14/03/2013 23:44

I don't know. I'd be worried in case it was someone really desperate taking it for their kids. Don't do anything really awful.
