To be fucking fuming

I live in cheltenham and today went to the races with some friends as usual. Had a lovely day went for a meal and a few drinks then went to get a bus.
There was a ten minute wait and so I popped into the chippy to get some chips for me dh.
Group of men in there totally managed to scare and intimidate me.
Would you like a savaloy up your back door you slut etc etc. I was alone I am a 45 yr old mother of five wtf?
I have seriously led a very unsheltered life and although wasn't shocked I am angry to my very core. How feckkng date they?
I gave them a mouthful back but I'm just so angry now.
I'm on the bus and feel like crying.
Why do we have to put up with this bolocks?
I just needed to rant.

I read too much of this kind of 'everyday' abuse on MN. What the fuck is the world coming to? Angry

I asked them if they'd like to discuss it with my dh who would be happy to drive down for a chat and if their mothers were proud of them

That's hideous :( I can't believe the girls in the chippy put up with it, either - it doesn't help any of us when people just let it happen. (Having said that, I wouldn't have /haven't had the guts to stand up for myself in similar intimidating situations.)

I've no idea why we have criminal legislation against racially offensive language, but no equivalent legislation covering sexually offensive language.

Utter twats. I have a work mate who lives in Cheltenham, she's pretty much house bound for the week as she's too nervous to walk on to the next street during race week. It's disgusting that this behaviour goes unreported.

I hope you're ok ledkr, I know you can give as good as you get but that's really not the point here!

Am so sorry - there is another thread on here by someone who lives in Cheltenham saying how vile it is in race week. Her neighbour has rented her house out to some people who sound very like these blokes.

And agree that it should be an offence as other kinds of insult are.

I hope you're feeling a bit better now, but that is just disgusting, no-one should have to hear that. I must say thank god you're angry, because as you say, anyone could have heard it including someone who was very fragile. You've got to say to yourself you are an amazing woman, and they are wankers - you are strong and they have proved themselves to be sad little shits.

I don't think you are overreacting at all.

I have three sons and am 100% confident they would never speak to anyone like that?
I remember asking them if they always spoke to women like that.
